Wow who in their right mind would give their handguns and rifles away for that cheap? I guess this is a good thing, since the only people who would give their guns away for that cheap are complete idiots unfit for gun ownership.
I want there to be a gun buyback program near me. I can stand outside the station and buy worthy rifles (and AT4 tubes) for 120 bucks.

People are fucking stupid sometimes, and make me want to bury guns in the backyard. I swear somebody needs to slap those dumb pricks in the face who have all the power to make armies of morons listen to them and spit on our "satanic" weaponry, and get somebody in office who maybe, I don't know, ACTUALLY KNOWS HOW A FIREARM EVEN WORKS?????? I mean christ, our govt. is so fucking stupid sometimes I wonder if anybody else who could actually DO something ever thinks the same thing. DAMMIT

DAMMIT
dude this is a completely voluntary gun buyback. no one is going door to door taking away guns or anything. it's basically "if you got a gun that you don't want, come over here and get $100 for it and be on your merry way" no one is "spitting on your weaponry" by offering to buy it from you.
I'd be scared to turn it in. Good to see they're honoring the no questions asked code, will almost definitely encourage more people to do the same thing.
empty AT-4s are roughly as illegal as toilet paper tubes loaded ones are legal with a tax stamp (provided there isn't a specific ordnance banning the AT-4) although you couldn't ever buy one anywhere
empty AT-4s are roughly as illegal as toilet paper tubes loaded ones are legal with a tax stamp (provided there isn't a specific ordnance banning the AT-4) although you couldn't ever buy one anywhere
And yet, you could kill a dozen people with a correctly placed shot with an AT-4. Why it isn't highly illegal to own one astounds me.
And yet, you could kill a dozen people with a correctly placed shot with an AT-4. Why it isn't highly illegal to own one astounds me.
When was the last time you heard of an AT-4 being used in a crime?
When was the last time you heard of an AT-4 being used in a crime?
Never. But that doesn't mean it can't happen, bombings are rare in the US, but have still happened to devastating effect. An AT-4 or RPG would have the same effect but on a smaller scale, not to mention the mass hysteria that it would cause.
I can not believe they are just gonna destroy them. All of the weapons just kinda wasted.
Some of those guns look pretty old, why in the hell would they destroy them..so dumb.

There's no need to further regulate things that nobody can get. That would be akin to saying that AC-130Us should be highly illegal to own. They're both impossible to acquire, and if one did acquire them, making it "HIGHLY ILLEGAL" isn't going to stop them.
And yet, you could kill a dozen people with a correctly placed shot with an AT-4. Why it isn't highly illegal to own one astounds me.
1. Not a real AT-4, but a traning model that shoots 9mm tracer bullets (that have to be manually reloaded by unscrewing the whole back end, no semi automatic baby killing possibilities here). 2. Most AT-4 tubes found in the US are used tubes that are useless outside of a cool item or paintball cannon. You can't reload them. There is a VERY small quantity, if any at all, of AT-4s that would be legal to own in the US. All of which would have been made before 1986. Seeing as their price would be through the roof and the $200 tax stamp and gigantic amount of paper work and background checks involved with transferring it to you would be a massive undertaking, it would be much easier to just buy it on the black market.

Luckily, most criminals do not have access to such connections and can only use normal weapons that any other citizen can buy.

People buy them for exorbitant sums of money and just leave them in their cellars because once they're gone, they're gone.
Okay... what is your point?
that banning them is useless
I don't think AT-4s would be subjected to the whole pre-86 thing, since they're not machine guns.
They fall under AOW/Destructive devices. Same thing goes for live hand grenades. If you can find one made before 86, and your fine with paying the huge amount of money and time, you can get it legally. All to blow it up once.
Okay... what is your point?
That if civilian access to guns wasn't so easy or even available these shootings wouldn't be happening.
That if civilian access to guns wasn't so easy or even available these shootings wouldn't be happening.
Go look at mexicos gun laws and let me know how that went for them.

An AT-4 or RPG would have the same effect but on a smaller scale, not to mention the mass hysteria that it would cause.
dude an at-4 isn't used in crime at all. it would be hideously stupid for someone to spend all the fucking money(i'm talking 10s of thousands of dollars) to procure a working at-4 with ordinance on the black market to use to wreak havoc. it's absolutely unfeasible. even in countries like iraq and shit where getting rocket launchers is a lot more feasible(due to getting them from unstable governments), the shit is so expensive that they are fairly rarely used because it costs a lot of money compared to just building a homemade bomb. worrying about people having what is essentially a giant fancy looking tube is absolutely hysterical. these things are not useful for crime and only useful for people who have a fascination with collecting military shit.
That if civilian access to guns wasn't so easy or even available these shootings wouldn't be happening.
So you're citing Destructive Devices, which have never been used in crime and have nothing to do with these shootings? [editline]28th December 2012[/editline] did you register just to shitpost?
And yet, you could kill a dozen people with a correctly placed shot with an AT-4. Why it isn't highly illegal to own one astounds me.
Because they are outrageously expensive (if not impossible to buy) and if you want to blow something up its about 1000000000x easier and cheaper to manufacture much more deadly explosives (See: oklahoma city bombing)? The guy with the RIDICULOUSLY hard to get class 3 licence who keeps and maintains a 76mm AT gun or a Hellcat as a hobby has gone through more than enough legal hoops to demonstrate that he isnt going to use it to commit a crime, and if you would consider that person a threat you really have basically NO idea what you're talking about.
