Watched the video, was expecting something a bit more compelling to be honest. Although his argument is fine it has a lot more to do with internet addiction than it does with porn addiction. The only point that's seemingly specific to porn is erectile disfunction. A far better way to describe the video is that it's against addictive internet behaviors, seeing as how I can get info about anything in seconds on the internet without having to truly look for it like previous generations did (which causes the same dopamine release). Honestly the depression, social anxiety, OCD etc etc etc argument has a lot more to do with the novelty of the internet and how it is the internet allows us to get EVERYTHING easier as opposed to JUST porn. I'm not saying his points are wrong but I am saying that almost all of his arguments could be used against the internet in general, which is what makes porn more accesible and is therefore the "bigger picture" of this whole topic. It is very possible that quitting porn may be helpful in the ways he described but if somebody is expecting to see these changes from STRICTLY not watching porn than they will likely be disappointed. Sure if your having erection issues it may be night and day for you but if you fall into the whole "depression, social anxiety, ocd etc" category than no longer watching porn doesn't really look like the big cure. Cutting back on the internet a lot is according to the information in this video.

We are driven by the need to know. The internet gives us that near instantaneously.
I don't think that finding info releases dopamine.
One of the many things dopamine does is make learning new things pleasureable (assuming we have interest in the topic). It is one of the largest reasons we always want to know more about certain things and why it is learning about certain things is fun.
Porn with lots of different women. How long is it supposed to be before you see the benefits of this, anyway?
If you watched the video you would know. For teenagers it could take 3-5 months before ED isn't a problem anymore.
If you watched the video you would know. For teenagers it could take 3-5 months before ED isn't a problem anymore.
I did watch the video, but the thing is, I don't currently suffer from ED.
I did watch the video, but the thing is, I don't currently suffer from ED.
Then you might notice a positive amount of concentration and general feel-good in 2-4 weeks, possibly. But you don't necessarily have any negative effects from masturbation. It's not like this is all set in stone and definite true science, it's just what we've noticed so far, there could be other reasons that actually causes ED or a more boring life with lack of interest for things.
Watching that video...I might actually go this route. Fuckin shitty.

feels like this pseudo-science talk only really applies to actual addicts, you know, people who cannot stop watching porn, not people who just watch porn and jerk off to it. [editline]20th April 2012[/editline] also tedx is an independent ted branch that lets anybody present.
I've stopped fapping and watching porn for about a week now. Blowing a load occasionally reduces the risk of ball and prostate cancer apparently. I find it hard to jerk without any porn though :( The whole idea is that it's the unlimited women we can view that desensitizes us, etc. What if we fapped to a single video or picture (instead of having like 4 tabs open like I normally do)? :v:
