I thought he was pretty high off the ground already, that's a huge loop.
I thought he was pretty high off the ground already, that's a huge loop.
He could have recovered if he was higher. It looks like he was no higher than 125 meters.
I could think of a lot worse ways to die at 74.
Obviously you've never flown a plane. Do you have any idea what kind of g-forces the pilot is under during an intense maneuver like that?
You'll know what I mean if you go to an amusment park and ride one of the larger roller-coasters.
wrong
ive flown a plane and done several loops, have you?
itt: people bicker about how youve never flown a plane or no I have, yet miss the fact that he did too much for the crowd, by starting the loop far to low.
Even if he didn't make it, he earns his medal for being fucking awesome. That man had balls (which are more or less of a smear on the grass now)
when he was going down why didnt hell pull up when the dam heli was looking at the ground it seemed to me he blacked out for like a second.

Oh that explains it hes 74 years old. So yea he probably blacked out.
It's a fucking helicopter, how do you make it 'pull up' from a 90-degree dive? Helicopters aren't designed to rotate 90 degrees in the first place, let alone 360.
Can you... see his body in the wreckage?
Can you... see his body in the wreckage?
...
C'mon dude...
That was hardcore.
Can someone look and tell me that's NOT the pilot on the ground at the front of the wreckage at about 2:17...because that's what it looks like to me.
it would appear that it is him
8 Second mark, another pilot gets shot down

I've done a loop in a plane before, mind you it was a single engine but still.
It's not hard unless you try to do it really tight and close to the ground, it's a bit of pull but not too bad.
Damn dude I thought he had there towards the end.
Why is every airshow disaster in Eastern Europe?
I do this in BF2 all the time.

at the part where he's diving and not pulling up for 50+ metres, his rotors weren't able to push air aside because it was blowing in the same direction that his rotors wanted to push it resulting in no lift= death.
you need to shut up in the future unless you've actually been present at your classes retard.
His experience should have covered this... might have been a gust, didn't look too windy or the speed he was travelling at. No one would have made that in the same place at the same time.
Pretty stupid to attempt this at such low altitude.
he should have gone up higher before starting it.
This. He was way too low.
True, he was too low, but he wasn't retarded and just kept going down. it's clearly vissible in the dive that control of the Coptor was impossible. I'm thinking that his rotors lost lift/pull.
ITT: Teenagers thinking they know how to pilot a helicopter.
Meh, at 74 years old this is a pretty badass way to go out.
I do these all the time on Battlefield 2, they are nothing.

I think that guy above you seems to know his stuff :v:
Sad, must have been a supreme badass to attempt such a maneuver.
Rated heart.

I doubt you have flown a plane let alone done several loops.
Can you... see his body in the wreckage?
I did, I saw a corpse.

The helicopter went into the death angle where the rotors can't generate lift or pull, but simply "cuts" the air infront of the helicopter. But you get out of this in second due to wind. Too bad the pilot didn't take it higher, he could've made it.
