Maybe those of you who were supporting him are seeing what an idiot he is. He's now released documents that affect almost all major nations. If this guy goes missing I don't think I'd be surprised, nor would I care.
As I have said and as you would know if you read the information
Yes the information was publicly available about the cables under water and even many of the land ones. All the facilities were also publicly known. However the real issue here is that now it is known these facilities are of vital importance to the USA and much of the world, not just that but Wikileaks has them all listed in one spot.

As I said in a previous post, people (who people are worried about finding out) would have to be very stupid to not realise these things are important to the US government.
Yeah but at the time before major publication of this information that would have mainly been on speculation, now its publicly known. This kind of information is not only dangerous to Governments but also to civilians.
What - you can't resolve Wikileaks of any responsibility. That's like selling a gun to a serial killer and going "oh well i'm not choosing how to use it". There was absolutely no good purpose to be gained from releasing this, and further corrodes Wikileaks' reputation.
There's a difference between a gun and information.
There's a difference between a gun and information.
Both can kill.
Well Id change my locks :smug:
well the United States doesn't have the luxury of relocating every single one of it's vulnerabilities in the same way you can change your locks. You get what I'm saying but you're dodging the point.
Both can kill.
No. You still need a gun to use information with a murderous intent.

Wikileaks is a large organization that could easily go about without Assannge's involvement. A cynical part of me thinks that the way certain people (Mainly in the various Governments) are making Assange out to be the person doing the leaking (and in some cases, suggesting he is stealing data from the US) is to make people collectively hate Assange and making it about him not his organization. (Collectively hate, what a horrible phrase. Sounds like something right out of 1984)
I'm honestly not seeing what's so bad here, the list is meaningless that's why it got published. The kind of places terrorists attack are embassies, public spaces, hospitals, things like that. Terrorists aren't waging a co-ordinated effort to bring down the infrastructure of the whole world. This list is plain delusional. And if they were making such an effort they'd already have a list like this of their own.

Threads about wikileaks alone prove that putting Assange into the public eye was a genius move. By giving wikileaks a face and name people/governments have something to hate and News stations have something more to go off of than a faceless organization.
No. You still need a gun to use information with a murderous intent.
Gun is a tool, information is weapon
This is pretty useless as a target list, it doesn't give any details about security or exactly how vulnerable these locations are. It's just a list of what US embassy staff consider to be important. I think this is more important as evidence of just how interconnected and dependent we are on the rest of the world.
This wikileaks deal got spread wide. Even my parents know about him now.
You must have some sort of illness because that is not what those words mean.
Blaming wikilinks is like blaming the gun for murder and not the person who pulled the trigger. Wikilinks just gives us the information, its up to the individual on how they decide to use it.
I definitely disagree. They only provide small, random amounts of practically useless information. What's the point of knowing what our governments have done in secret besides to piss us off? Has there been any document released that shed positive light on anyone in office? And now something like this gets released, just furthering Assange's intentions to pull some Joker-esque shit and fuck everyone over. You either have full government transparency, where we know everything they think and do, or we stay in the dark. All WikiLeaks has done is wipe some of the dust off of the window into our government, and everyone is freaking out about the small bits they can now see.
And if they were making such an effort they'd already have a list like this of their own.
Ah someone who has a bit of common sense when thinking about anyone who actually wants to attack the US (or any country for that matter). Do people really think that these people sit around with no plan and no info gathering and are suddenly amazed because they have info?
The more our government is threatened, the safer I feel.
Some of them probably do sit around with no plan, which is why they go the obvious places, places with people, places people like, places with the "enemy".
Some of them probably do sit around with no plan, which is why they go the obvious places, places with people, places people like, places with the "enemy".
But even that is a rough plan, they most certainly do not need Wikileaks to tell them where to attack.

The fact that people are freaking out over small leaks is proof enough that the rest of the files wikileaks has yet to publish are extremely important.
They act as if it's some sort of global army with a strategist behind it we are fighting. Let's be realistic, the people that is being fought are people who are pissed off at the world and blow shit up instead of cutting. People who hate the foreign soldiers, people who hate other people in their country, people who hate a religion, people who hate a political view. It's not an army.

My grief isn't with him, it's the organization. I hope you don't think that's a good thing, why do we need even more important and secretive documents released?
Because if they is doing some dirt or acting crazy we should know so we can stop it. That's the point of a democracy, if you don't like it you can change it. But if these things are kept secret and the public kept content through deception nobody can change it. And then it is fascism.

I am not a fan of secretive governments or governments at all. Of course with such information going public there is always a risk.
Assange is not the only person and is merely a small part of Wikileaks. The fact that people are freaking out over small leaks is proof enough that the rest of the files wikileaks has yet to publish are extremely important.
That doesn't prove anything. People are freaking out because there's no good reason people need to know the cables. People are entitled to have their own personal opinions and conversations with eachother, and when these are released to the public it severally inhibits the semi-free speech politicians have. And the leaking of these vulnerabilities? That's not information the American people are entitled to know, like the war documents. That's just stupid dickwaving information leaking by wikileaks.
Because if they is doing some dirt or acting crazy we should know so we can stop it. That's the point of a democracy, if you don't like it you can change it. If you support these leaks because of the basic principle that "we should know everything" you're SOL, because this is like .01% of the secrets our government has.
What - you can't resolve Wikileaks of any responsibility. That's like selling a gun to a serial killer and going "oh well i'm not choosing how to use it". For everyone that understands reality, this is the first real hit to their reputation. They haven't caused other deaths or diplomatic issues, so that's right out the window in terms of damaging their reputation.

These are not vulnerabilities these are things that diplomats feel are important to the US government in the country they are in. (Note DIPLOMATS, not the US government)
The only reason it doesn't go out of hand is because we have investigative press like this who exposes the shit so we can fix it through a democratic process. You people need to learn some fucking history. You're supporting fascism because the government told you it was the cool thing to do. And you never questioned it. This is how a corrupt government takes control away from the people.
I hate to break it to you, but every government everywhere has dirt and acts crazy. All we are saying is any bit of information is interesting. There are far more people who would read/skim info and say its interesting than there are who would use info to do harm.
And the leaking of these vulnerabilities? That's not information the American people are entitled to know, like the war documents. That's just stupid dickwaving information leaking by wikileaks.
I already explained that this stuff was well known. I already said I do not agree with endangering people at these places just to prove a point to the world. Wikileaks is still just an information repository and should be treated as such.
Have you actually read this thread, the article, or the cable?
