I personally wanna learn more. I am not a fan of secretive governments or governments at all. Of course with such information going public there is always a risk.
You make it sound like wikileaks is the People magazine for the government. I'm not going to lie, I think all of the information that's been released is fascinating too. But that doesn't mean we should know it.
I already explained that this stuff was well known. I already said I do not agree with endangering people at these places just to prove a point to the world. Wikileaks is still just an information repository and should be treated as such.
Then it needs better moderation.
It's fascism if your government makes decisions that you cannot change.
The cables? These are thoughts an ideas, not secret policy changes.
They show that the war on terror has been blown out of proportion and a political decision was made on ignorance. Presumably either because someone somewhere is an idiot. Or because someone somewhere wanted it. Neither is acceptable in any way.

Has it killed people? No. Has it damaged international relationships? Nope.
"BUT IT"S BAAAAAAD!"
Then it needs better moderation.
Nah I say let them release all the information they have and continue doing so. Would be quite the sight to see.

Information is always good, even if the information is nuclear launch codes.
Then it needs better moderation.
It has good moderation. I can assure you, and I will eat a hat on this, there will not be a terror attack because of this ridiculous list.

I know you are possibly joking, but even if nuclear launch codes were leaked they would be utterly useless. I mean how many people have access to the equipment to order the launch (My understanding is that in the US the president carries it with them).

Well thats the joke.
They'd probably do a purge for moles and change them anyway.
Further? For everyone that understands reality, this is the first real hit to their reputation. They haven't caused other deaths or diplomatic issues, so that's right out the window in terms of damaging their reputation.
No, they haven't caused any deaths. However, much criticism has arisen due to their recent mass leakage of all the diplomatic documents. Critics claim that the huge, indiscriminate dumping of documents is /not/ good, justifiable whistle-blowing, i.e. the Iraq War leaks of Wikileaks and the Pentagon Papers by Daniel Ellsberg, but unnecessarily damages international communication ability and the confidence of privacy at a government level. Frankly, if you believe in complete, full-blown transparency about every single detail, you're naive - government DOES have a right to privacy, as well as the people who transmit information to the government. Yes, major issues that relate completely to the public should be clear, but not every single detail. This'll be simply another weight.
There is no reason for this type of information to be released. Generally I think the whole reason wikileaks should be releasing things is to keep the government transparent when it comes to matters dealing with their citizens or any other affairs.
There is no one to benefit or care about this sort of information. It would be like releasing a picture of Obama's pajamas. We don't need to see this.
I don't think this release is right. This can actually danger the safety of workers at these locations.
Why the fuck would you people support them. It's a god damn terrorist organization.
I don't think this release is right. This can actually danger the safety of workers at these locations.
How?
All these things would at least have already been considered by anyone wanting to attack.
Eh, Whatever respect I had for Wikileaks is gone now...hey, has Area 51 showed up at all on the list. I wanna good laugh.
Why the fuck would you people support them. It's a god damn terrorist organization.
By your logic newspapers are also terrorist organization's because they also publish leaked documents and have done for many many years.
Anything that infringes on the governments right to supreme power is obviously terrorist and a threat to the free world.
How?

As I keep saying. These places were publicly known already but now they are going to be prime targets for many organizations. By putting this info out as a leak and showing that it is potentially valuable to the USA and the rest of the world and including all those facilities, hundreds if not thousands of lives of people who work at these places could be in danger.
Its really that simple.
Has it killed people? No. Has it damaged international relationships? Nope.
"BUT IT"S BAAAAAAD!"
Has it damaged the trust and relationship you with your government? Principally, I dislike it. Just as principally, many people support it.

Never said I did. But the "damage" you're talking about hasn't really happened.

"ignorance is bliss"? Yeah, so you have nothing to say at all, figured.

I guess not :sigh:
Oh well.
Blaming wikilinks is like blaming the gun for murder and not the person who pulled the trigger.
Wikilinks just gives us the information, its up to the individual on how they decide to use it.
how does this apply to "vital US targets" information being released?
Why the fuck would you people support them. It's a god damn terrorist organization.
on this forum there are a lot of 16 year olds going through an identity crisis as part of puberty, they're trying out the whole "im a communist rebel, criminals are awesome, fuck the government and fuck my parents for making me take out the trash" image. no need to take it serious
Never said I did. But the "damage" you're talking about hasn't really happened.
It undoubtedly has. All foreign governments, organisations, individuals and anyone who wants to transmit information, good or bad, of a needfully confidential nature will certainly be thinking twice, thus hampering effective and truthful communication. I'm not saying Wikileaks doesn't have it's place - as I said, stuff like the Iraq Files are important documents which deserve to be revealed to the public. However, there are more consequences to unmitigated leaking than you'd first think.
how does this apply to "vital US targets" information being released?
How doesnt it?
They give info, we sit here and read it. Some people might read it and consider using info for wrong reasons while others may decide to use the info for something worthwhile.
But also
As I keep saying. These places were publicly known already but now they are going to be prime targets for many organizations. What are you talking about? I responded with a question for you... Ignorance is bliss, yeah. I mean, I enjoy the spirit and idea of "fuck the government" mentality as much as the next 18 year old (I mean, look at my avatar). But when it really comes down to it, Wikileaks is only increasing tension for the sake of increasing tension. Thinking this information is interesting doesn't warrant its release. I really don't think anything is going to come of any of it, but the fact that now people are going to dislike the current government more for continuing practices that have been standard fare, and become knowledgeable of information trivial for them but potentially dangerous in the wrong hands bothers me.
Dear Wikileaks,
Area 51 please
This is what I'd sing in Wikileak's face
"Who do you carry the torch for my young man?
Do you believe in anything?
Do you carry it around just to burn things down?
What did you learn tonight?
you're shouting so loud you barely enjoy this broken thing
you're a voice that never sings, is what I say
You were freezing over hell
You were bringing on the end, you do so well
You can only blame yourself, it's what I say!"
The Archer's Arrows have Broken-Brand New
I did skip a few lines.
It's starting to look like Wikileaks has it out against the US, I mean I didn't believe that when they targeted the US for every other major leak, but now they're just going overboard with it.
When can we see a leak involving another country?

Once all this blows over and after they leak some of the supposed upcoming military blueprints/documents.
And no one was harmed.
but really i dont know what to think about this one because this information is kind of very important and vital. more then the last leaks it did
