Wikileaks: List of facilities 'vital to US security' leaked

This was bound to happen, just was a matter of time. And thus begins the fall...
I like the part where people said I was stupid for disliking wikileaks because something exactly like this would happen
I'd be fine with them if it weren't for the fact that information that is made secret for a good reason is being shown by them.
First post sums up my opinions sufficiently.
Although the information may have already been available, this puts the facilities in the eyes of terrorist organizations because they have been deemed "necessary" by the U.S. government.
Eh, read through 'em, about the most "important" are "Ontario Waneta Dam, British Columbia: Earthfill/concrete hydropower dam Darlington Nuclear Power Plant", "Nadym Gas Pipeline Junction: The most critical gas facility in the world" and "Hydro Quebec, Quebec: Critical irreplaceable source of power to portions of Northeast U. S."
Oh look...no power. Fan-fucking-tastic. This isn't deadly information to terrorists, this is bad information for nations interested in making a strike against us.
This actually could be harmful to people it shouldn't effect if it's used by a malevolent party.
Just imagine, you're a soldier who just so happened to get bit by a snake but hey no anti-venom, terrorists blew up the anti-venom HQ in Australia.
This could lead to a plethora of snake based terrorist weaponry.
Samuel L. Jackson does not like this, he does not like this one bit!
jesus christ news section is the most fucking predictable lot of morons
the first three threads he was a FREEDOM FIGHTER because a bunch of bullshit SOMEONE ELSE SAID and now he's GONE TOO FAR and is CROSSING LINES for showing us where SHIT SOMEONE ELSE BUILT is, and now he is DANGEROUS and POLITICALLY MOTIVATED when before he was just doing WHAT WAS RIGHT to uncover all those SUPER SECRET TOP SECRETS THAT HAVE CHANGED SO GODDAMN MUCH
I like Julian Assange, to clarify.
fuck you idiots

Brilliant fucking thread! Buildings exist, and someone told us they exist, so people are ~obviously~ going to get hurt! No need doing any fact checking or research on any of these installations, just blindly judging how much of a "blow" the us is taking based on the name alone!! Woo woo!!
Oh look...no power. Fan-fucking-tastic. This isn't deadly information to terrorists, this is bad information for nations interested in making a strike against us.
yeah except other nations that would make a strike against us would have a list, if not a better list, regardless of this one existing
It's not the "Oh, wikileaks isn't doing anything to harm!" part, its the point that... what if they release some information that is a threat to security? which in the US's opinion, it very bad... I personally don't blame the government for wanting wikileaks down.
I don't see why people see this as going too far. Wikileaks is treating each leak equally. They have no right to discriminate against certain leaks when the policy on their site states that they'll leak anything and everything. Besides, look at the purpose for which this list was created: defense. Now those facilities are going to probably strengthen their standards like they should have in the first place. Plus, it's not like terrorists didn't know this stuff already. It's not too hard to track shipments and find the most critical US supply lines.
I thank you for educating me in this matter even further on the matter. Have a gold star, good sir.
This is too far. It was fine when Wikileaks released information about corruption and stuff that the average US citizen would care about, but this is just aiding terrorism.
This is just spitting in the face of the big kid bullying you around.
Wtf Julian.
Wtf.
Well, in my opinion, when you put it that way I see no wrong there.
This is too far. It was fine when Wikileaks released information about corruption and stuff that the average US citizen would care about, but this is just aiding terrorism.
Like any competent terrorists organization didn't already have a list of easy targets :colbert:
This is just a reminder on, that the world needs to wake up and get their shit together.
Imagine if it were ONLY terrorists that had this list, and not practically everyone with a internet connection.
I mean, what IF someone leaked this list (or similar) to terrorists without wikileaks or anyone else knowing about it.
Think about that.

because if fucking terrorists wanted to blow up a hydro station or a pipeline they would definitely not know about it until reading about it in this specific batch of cables as information on these huge fucking buildings that have existed for years is so scarce they were literally invisible to the naked eye before this, plus terrorists naturally are fickle and when they set their sights on a target easily lose interest and pick new ones off of a list
i see fucking exactly where you're coming from
Area 51 is not on the list.
Me disappoint.
I definitely disagree. They only provide small, random amounts of practically useless information. What's the point of knowing what our governments have done in secret besides to piss us off? Has there been any document released that shed positive light on anyone in office? And now something like this gets released, just furthering Assange's intentions to pull some Joker-esque shit and fuck everyone over. You either have full government transparency, where we know everything they think and do, or we stay in the dark. All WikiLeaks has done is wipe some of the dust off of the window into our government, and everyone is freaking out about the small bits they can now see.
Do you know how the PRC's foreign intelligence networks work? They send out tens of thousands of foreign exchange students, businessmen and the like and instruct them to photograph and memorize EVERYTHING. These people send back small, random amounts of practically useless information.
Then the PRC puts the pieces of the puzzle together.
I could not help but grin so widely reading the first few posts. What they are doing in general is completely going too far.
Now he's just digging deeper.
I kinda feel that WikiLeaks has another card in their sleeve even when they will be terminated.
Wikileaks has an agenda. I must find out what it is... Hnnng.
And I told you so.

This paragraph right here is just oozing with insanity.
"Terrorists" are not one big organization with an intelligence network and communications. There are German terrorists, Czech terrorists, Arabian terrorists, Persian terrorists, African terrorists, American terrorists, the list goes on and on.
Each one is fighting for a separate ideology, most of them radical. So radical that despite their goals (anti NATO, anti US, anti whatever), they won't ever work together because it would violate their views. They aren't infiltrating every level of the government they're fighting and usually don't even have contacts inside them. They get their news the same way we do, via media agencies. Hell, even government officials get most of their news from the media. George H. W. Bush turned to CNN instead of the CIA for up to date news on Desert Storm.
The organizations, especially as it pertains to this leak, would also be fighting in foreign lands. If these locations were unknown to you, having lived in the West your entire life, you can bet the vast majority weren't even a blip on their radar.
So, to say that "terrorists" would "know" all of these locations is just as insane as saying you or I know all the locations of vital importance to the Russian Federation.
To imply that a massive road map of these locations, complete with consequences of damage, is worthless to them is even more retarded.
I've looked through the list and most of it is industrial stuff such as oil, gas and metal industries.
These things aren't hard to spot so I don't see why this would help terrorists?
If America is the big kid on the block, then Assange just posted information on how it still pisses it's bed to the entire school.

That would make sense if this was a list of corruption charges or human rights abuses.
This is more like a list of discount firearms sales in the tri county area and a vague schedule of Americas daily life.
Someone reserve me a spot in Britain in case the US goes down the shit hole.

My bed's got room for 2.
As I see it, this is pretty much a direct assault on the US

What, come on. Just because it's "their policy" doesn't mean they have to follow it to insanity, and are absolved of the consequences of doing so. I mean, say they received a hypothetical document which listed information crucial to a successful terrorist attack on U.S soil, and had absolutely no benefit in being released. What are you going to do - "oh well we don't have a choice bad luck US". No, that'd be insane; the equivalent of driving off a cliff because your portable GPS route planner told you to.

lmao, they have no right to do this in general
Ever since 9/11 the US has been seeing terrorists behind every friggen corner...

That makes Assange the in-the-middle average kid who is one brave little hard assed bastard.
