- Public homosexuality is either discouraged or illegal
- Religious policy takes precedent over civil rights
In the middle east gays can marry they just cant have gay sex.
Why am I a raging homophobe for thinking life would be easier if everyone were sexually attracted to persons whom they are anatomically more compatible with?
I support gay marriage and rights and stuff but I still am of the opinion that the world would be a bit nicer without
What do you mean less sexual competition, lesbians and less children. Gays are awesome.
You answered your own question. Your opinion is just as valid as the opinion that the world would be better without Jews or any other minority.
If through some marvelous mysterious miracle there were no gay people, and nobody were gay, meaning nobody had legitimate homosexual feelings, we wouldn't have to worry about discrimination, two people getting married who are incapable of producing offspring with one another, etc. How is that not easier? It sounds offensive but it's true.
Goddammit my state, why you so redundant
this is taking "anti-bullying" too far.
So long as there are 'minors' in this world there will always be bullying. You can only hope to make people tell someone about it. I bet even though its banned people are still going to find out, especially when there is the internet, dictionaries, etc. I really doubt you can stop it entirely.
This is still a dumb bill regardless of the age range, you aren't teaching acceptance by banning discussion of homosexuals. Acceptance is something parents have to teach too. But lets back up here ... whats wrong about teaching about sexual orientation?(of course within sex education classes and whatnot)
Or back up even more.. is sexual orientation REALLY important to 8th graders? Some people don't 'know' their sexual orientation until they are out of high school, or even past that. If you're going to teach it, teach the entire fucking subject, if not, then don't teach it at all. It's misleading and is what probably would CAUSE bullying in the first place.

And the only purpose to love is to be sexually compatible and make baby? You can hope all you want the world becomes easier thus making discrimination disappear, but for the rest of eternity until the end of the human race differences will always be there. If it were not for these differences we would be extinct.

Interracial heterosexuals were treated so well, I totally see how your world works out.

This law is essentially pro-bullying. Schools in Tennessee won't be able to discuss homosexuality in any way until 9th grade, which will make homophobia more rampant since homosexuality will seem even more alien to kids.

Maybe there'd be less conflict if everybody agreed about everything, yes, there'd be no wars, no hate, and no people with personalities, but what we're discussing here is reality, not fantasy.

What Tennessee is trying to do with this education bill is painfully obvious: They're trying to keep kids from learning about homosexuality so that the kids will never form their own opinions about it before they've grown - and human beings fear and hate what they don't understand. It's a low, low move, and the people who proposed this bill ought to be castrated. This bill will effectively ensure that the bigotry in Tennessee against homosexuals does NOT go away with new generations.

Uh okay glad to hear it

I think you're being a bit excessively overdramatic
More like, they are of the silly belief that teaching kids about gay people will make everyone gay, and they don't want that to happen. This isn't some horrible nefarious plot.
Also if this were a thread about wars and I said "It'd be nice if there were no wars" you wouldn't get onto me.
If this were a thread about world hunger and I said "It'd be nice if everyone had food to eat" you
wouldn't get onto me.
But I made a statement about something that could have been different, however is not different, and everyone immediately gets on my ass for "fantasy versus reality", probably just because you're uncomfortable with my statement in some way

No, they aren't. They aren't that stupid, but they're trying to make stupid people believe that. They know exactly what they're doing, and it is EXACTLY as nefarious as I made it out to be.

Really?
Pretty much all the anti-gay marriage folk are of the (untrue) belief that being gay is a choice, and therefore they're attempting to encourage kids not to make the choice to become something they think is immoral. YOU, however, insist that they're part of this evil master plot of hatred, and claim it's worthy of castration on their part.
well thats gay.

Why don't you look at nature. some (if not all) animals have a potential to be homosexual. You are essentially saying that the world would be nicer without an element in nature. There is only one way to fix it: kill every single human fucking being on the planet. There will now be no more gay humans. That said, I really don't think your statement on disliking it adds anything to your point. As I said, you can only do one thing about it..
This is perhaps the gayest law I have ever read in my entire life.
Why does this always turn to "You mean we have to commit MASS MURDER OF SOME FORM OR FASHION!"? No! That's not what I mean.
I mean if just for some natural miraculous reason, nobody had any real homosexual feelings, also meaning that there were no closet homosexuals, only open, true, heterosexuals.
Was Jesus a woman?
No. So, no one should be a woman!

Was Jesus rich? Nope, so no one should be Waitaminute...

No, you didn't carefully read what I typed. I said that the masses, the sheep, may believe that being gay is a choice. But those leading these campaigns know the truth. They're intelligent people with grudges, agendas, and they get the masses on their side by spouting all the lies and the bullshit propaganda. Yes, I do think the ones leading the movement should be dealt with harshly, because there have seldom been clearer manifestations of human evil.

My goodness aren't you the dramatic one, using phrases "the masses, the sheep" and "manifestations of human evil" really puts the icing on the cake there
Sure I would. Because "What ifs" are irrelevant and don't mean a goddamn thing. You'd like it if there weren't gay people, and there weren't bisexual people, but there are. Everywhere. Just because you'd rather they didn't exist doesn't mean they don't, and it doesn't mean that they can be ignored. That is what the rest of us are saying. We're not uncomfortable with the idea. We're just very disappointed in you.

Good job Elecbullet, instead of actually making an attempt to argue, you take the easy route and decide to insult your opposition.

That bit right there does create a bit of problems though

I'm tired of everyone getting overdramatic like something out of a dystopic novel or something
That bit right there does create a bit of problems though
You'd rather that gays, lesbians and bisexuals didn't exist.
There is no difference between that and wishing that colored people and non-christians did not exist. It does not reflect reality, and it's really a sign of immaturity.

I like the part where he basically compared homosexuality to starvation.
The keyword here is Tennessee.

I'm not christian I might add
Jeesh though I say one phrase and it gets out of hand
And I did not mean to imply that homosexuality was as bad a thing as world hunger, it is NOT. However I was pointing out that you initially got onto me for "fantasy versus reality" whereas you wouldn't if I were discussing world hunger
More like, they are of the silly belief that teaching kids about gay people will make everyone gay, and they don't want that to happen. This isn't some horrible nefarious plot.

Let me put this in perspective for you by changing the word "gay" for "black."
"More like, they are of the silly belief that teaching kids about black people will make everyone black, and they don't want that to happen. This isn't some horrible nefarious plot."
That sure does make a lot of sense, and is obviously something educated, intelligent republican politicians believe, right?

What you fail to realize is that homosexuality is not a bad thing at all.
Why does this always turn to "You mean we have to commit MASS MURDER OF SOME FORM OR FASHION!"? No! That's not what I mean.

I never said it was what you meant, I said that's the only way to fix it. My point is it's not really a good argument to express your opposition to aspects of nature, it gives you only one option should you want to take action, which is to destroy nature, or more specifically, life itself. Can you explain how that adds to your point? If you want to tell me that it's not the only way to deal with it, then do expand, I just can't think of anything.
I just don't understand your position man. You are assuming that the nonexistence of homosexuals solves the problem of itself. Fine. But why should homosexuality cease to exist? Just cause SOME people don't like it , doesn't mean it should be abolished. Man, that would be a wonderful world. Your perfect world.
This is almost as bad as the Scopes trial. Tennessee is way too much of fundamentalist Christian state or at least that's what their legislators are.

I don't see the point?
