I don't see the point?
I'm unsurprised.
I never said it was what you meant, I said that's the only way to fix it. My point is it's not really a good argument to express your opposition to aspects of nature, it gives you only one option should you want to take action, which is to destroy nature, or more specifically, life itself. Can you explain how that adds to your point? If you want to tell me that it's not the only way to deal with it, then do expand, I just can't think of anything.
I just don't understand your position man. You are assuming that the nonexistence of homosexuals solves the problem of itself. Fine. But why should homosexuality cease to exist? Just cause SOME people don't like it , doesn't mean it should be abolished. Man, that would be a wonderful world. Your perfect world.
Christ it can't be abolished and I realize that
What I am saying is like saying "the world would be nicer if everyone were right-handed". Lefthandedness has not created anything in and of itself. There have been many great left-handed people, but that doesn't mean the world wouldn't be nicer.
It's only when you replace "lefthanded" with other words that people seem to take offense, apparently. Also it doesn't mean that I am saying "the only solution is a Final Solution" or something.
This law is essentially pro-bullying. Schools in Tennessee won't be able to discuss homosexuality in any way until 9th grade, which will make homophobia more rampant since homosexuality will seem even more alien to kids.
It's their cause so i put it there, other than that I agree with you. At the end of my post I state why I think it only leads to more bullying, which, kind of makes it pro-bullying in the end.. but again, that's what this bill is about, anti-bullying.
I don't see the point?
Unless everyone is identical, you won't end discrimination. Completely pointless differences are already the source of most discrimination, so what are you realistically expecting from suggesting that the world would be better if there were no gays.
I'm unsurprised.
I see how the black race could be substituted in here but that was an odd post to substitute it into

You're completely missing the point of what we're trying to say. We're saying that your musings serve no more purpose than saying "I wish everything was blue 'cause I like the color blue and I'd like everything better if it were blue."
The rest of us are discussing, again, reality, and the real world. Not fantasy worlds and hypothetical situations that do not, and never will, exist.

Again I think it's odd that people only object to fantasies on the basis of "they're fantasies" if they are offensive in some way
The keyword here is Tennessee.
and republican
Again I think it's odd that people only object to fantasies on the basis of "they're fantasies" if they are offensive in some way
Yeah, surprising when people are offended by offensive things...
Again I think it's odd that people only object to fantasies on the basis of "they're fantasies" if they are offensive in some way
Not the point. The point is that you're off-topic, and fantasizing about alternate realities really contributes nothing to the discussion.
Yeah, surprising when people are offended by offensive things...
But when they are asked for a reason for being offended they have to say "it's a fantasy!"
But when they are asked for a reason for being offended they have to say "it's a fantasy!"
Are you incapable of reading? Nobody has said your fantasy of an all-heterosexual world is offensive because "it's a fantasy."
But when they are asked for a reason for being offended they have to say "it's a fantasy!"
Personally, I'm offended because you either prefer a world without gay people just on your own preference, or a delusion about how the world works.
If through some marvelous mysterious miracle there were no gay people, and nobody were gay, meaning nobody had legitimate homosexual feelings, we wouldn't have to worry about discrimination, two people getting married who are incapable of producing offspring with one another, etc. How is that not easier? It sounds offensive but it's true.
Are you of the belief that things would be easier if we were all white, too?
Are you of the belief that things would be easier if we were all white, too?
I don't doubt that he is.
Are you incapable of reading? Nobody has said your fantasy of an all-heterosexual world is offensive because "it's a fantasy."
I shouldn't have said "being offended" I should have said "objecting", oh well
I shouldn't have said "being offended" I should have said "objecting", oh well
Are you incapable of reading? Nobody has objected to your fantasy of an all-heterosexual world because "it's a fantasy."
Are you of the belief that things would be easier if we were all white, too?
Heeeey Zeke, how ya doing man
Now on subject, as uncomfortable as it makes you feel...
Maybe there'd be less conflict if everybody agreed about everything, yes, there'd be no wars, no hate, and no people with personalities, but what we're discussing here is reality, not fantasy.
Aw, for the love of ...
YOU're lecturing HIM on going off topic? Contribute to the discussion or :frog:.

Sorry, I wasn't, if anything I was lecturing myself V:v:V

the difference is how that is handled by society. Let me quote your original post:
"
If through some marvelous mysterious miracle there were no gay people, and nobody were gay, meaning nobody had legitimate homosexual feelings, we wouldn't have to worry about discrimination, two people getting married who are incapable of producing offspring with one another, etc. How is that not easier? It sounds offensive but it's true. "
discrimination .. as far as I'm concerned, no law in the US remotely suggest discrimination of left handed people. it's not a problem in general society, nearly everyone is accepting of left handed people. We're talking about a bill and the wider issue of discrimination against homosexuals. That issue is not really unanimously agreed upon in American society is it?
and even then, I'd still ask someone opposed to left handedness why they oppose it.
regardless I'm not arguing whether the problem is itself, I said 'fine'. You just said that above. My last 3 statements are an assumption of what I understand your enlargement is for not liking homosexuals.
So i ask you again.. why do you oppose it? Is it simply because homosexuals can't reproduce? What is the negative aspect of homosexuality that you oppose. Not the reactions from some people (lets remember not everyone is opposed to others sexuality, right?).
Sorry, I wasn't, if anything I was lecturing myself V:v:V
Are you of the belief that things would be easier if we were all white, too?
I'm posting it again because you avoided the question
Elecbullet, the world would only be a better place without certain minorities for people who have a problem with those minorities. I believe you've made your intentions clear.
Are you of the belief that things would be easier if we were all white, too?

Yeah pretty much
I trailed off there because I meant for you to fill in the blank with yes
I didn't ask for this debate you know, I said something and people objected to it
Yeah pretty much

I don't think anyone is objecting the debate, i think it's relevant. we're still talking about the motives and opinions of those who oppose, accept, or support homosexuality.
the difference is how that is handled by society. Let me quote your original post:

So as I was saying yeah, I am of the idea that a world where everyone were right-handed would be easier for more compatibility. I don't know if you do Web design, but it's like saying "the world would be easier if everyone used Firefox", or at least "if nobody used Internet Explorer". This is because you can write a Website, have it work perfectly in Firefox, and then open it up in IE, and it doesn't work, and then open it up in IE 7 and the page doesn't even display, instead it is a jumbled mess.
One less thing for society to account for.
I don't know if you do Web design, but it's like saying "the world would be easier if everyone used Firefox", or at least "if nobody used Internet Explorer".
You've taken about as wrong an approach as you can. The last time "the world would be easier if everyone used <browser>" happened, it was Internet Explorer. See where that got us?
The solution to differences isn't to eliminate the difference, it's to figure out the best way to work with those differences.
Also I just realized this
Let's take a look at my first post in this thread.
It'd be great if everyone were heterosexual but this isn't the case. ...
Looking back, what I did was I proposed a fantasy, and then I immediately said the fantasy was not true so I don't know why everyone is getting on to me about fantasies
A fantasy is a fantasy because it's not true? Holy shit.
You've dug yourself into a hole that you can't get out of. "The world would be better if everybody was a heterosexual" is a nicer way of saying "I wish all faggots would die."
Yeah don't say gay because it's offensive
[sp]and also retarded[/sp]
