okay thanks for helping to further prove my point
Didn't you say atheism is no religion If I misread it, my bad
The CoE was made so someone could divorce. Do you really expect a church of that caliber to follow tradition?
English religions are beginning to accept gays. Makes the US look REALLY backward...
US has been really backward since the 60s.
Isn't that when the whole Hippie movement started?
Isn't that when the whole Hippie movement started?
please crawl in a hole
I do so enjoy your posts sometimes Sanius
This is a good thing indeed. :)
Okay so there's 80 different words for it. Pick one and stick with it for fucks sake, everyone on FP is an atheist and they still shit on religion every chance they get, same thing with Richard Dawkins, they all obviously hate religion yet they're still calling themselves atheists.
Did the mean old atheists set off your persecution complex? Poor dear. Come back when Dawkins starts issuing fatwas or trying to dictate how people should live, and maybe you'd have an argument. And how exactly does someone 'shit on' religion? Has there been a wave of atheist delinquents rubbing poo on church windows that I haven't heard about?
atheist is a blanket-term anyway. could mean anything from agnostic atheist to gnostic antitheist
The Church of Sweden accepted gay marriage, and even priests quite a while ago. One of the priests in my local church is gay.
I have to agree with the kid somewhat, atheists do tend to make a stupidly big deal out of it
In what way? A few books and the odd snidely-worded forum post? Of course, some atheists are rude and obnoxious but the same could be said of any group - and in some cases, genuine criticism (ie. Is it really nescessary to scare children into obedience with threats of eternal torture?) gets an immediate kneejerk reaction where the religious are all too willing to scream about how their way of life is being marginalised.
It's funny how "militant christian" refers to someone who firebombs abortion clinics, and "militant Islam" means a belief system which encourages the killing of infidels and the stoning of women, but when someone says "militant atheist" you're probably thinking of a ~70 year old english guy who wrote a few books about evolution and rational thought. From now on I refuse to take anyone using the term "militant atheist" seriously.

You should learn the difference between "no religion" and "atheist"
Yeah there's a difference, one doesn't give a shit about religion and the other opposes it.
He immediately got shit for this even though he knows what they meant. He exaggerated the definitions a bit but he knew what they meant. But no, we had to immediately proclaim both his definitions as wrong and provide a marginally different word, when they're all incredibly similar.
They also need to review reality

No religion means you don't follow a belief system with a mythology. Atheism means you don't actively believe in a deity. Simple. I just wanted to put it out there

Atheism means you don't actively believe in a deity. Simple.
Think of it this way. "No religion", by your definitions, is stricter than "atheist", right? Because you can have a religion and be atheist. However, the way people actually use the term, "atheist" is a stronger term than "having no religion". You'd never say "Oh he's an atheist, but he'd never go so far as to call himself not religious." However, you might say "Oh he says he's not religious, but he'd never go so far as to say he's an atheist."

The way people use the term a lot of the time isn't right though (the aforementioned false dichotomy between atheists and agnostics comes to mind). There still seems to be a massive stigma attached to the word atheist, which is ridiculous really. Being an atheist doesn't technically disqualify you from believing in all sorts of ridiculous shit like witches and werewolves and lizardmen either. It's one of many characteristics that your personal philosophy could have. [editline]3rd July 2011[/editline] To clarify I really should have said "non-religious nation" instead of "atheist nation", because of reasons stated.
What does it matter if a priest is gay or not? It's not like he can do anything anyways. Lusts of a straight priest = lusts of a gay priest because either way he's supposed to stay celebate.
yesssssss
Over 50% aren't religious? Well that's pretty cool, I wonder what it's like in other European countries?
(Darker colour = more people beleive in a god)
-snip-
A good priest should just believe in God, and know the Bible really well. Why would his sexuality matter?
Whoa calm the fuck down, we're on the internet why are you being so serious? It's internet speak for hating on something, any time religion is mentioned on facepunch it usually turns into a retard clusterfuck as people come from every part of the forum to say religion is stupid, causing all wars, killing billions, and taking us back to the dark ages.
I'm perfectly calm, thank you. :) And oddly enough, the internet is full of shit-slinging. It happens everywhere. Anyone here could find extensive satire or mockery of any worldview in seconds using Google. You could probably find (if you wanted to) explicit rule 34 of any celebrity ever, or websites exclaiming that said individuals, or people that follow them, are a pox on society and need to die in a hole. What's so special about mocking religion?
In modern society, non-believers are to keep quiet at all times otherwise be labelled as an extremist
Is it possible to have a liberal city in Alabama? Because I don't feel at all like most people portray the South in Dothan, Alabama. What you said definitely doesn't apply here.
(Darker colour = more people beleive in a god)
The chart is dated. Its a little bit higher now.
