Microsoft says PS4 is outselling Xbox One because PS3 didn't satisfy customers
There Wii-U is not doing too great, it's becoming what the dreamcast became... They cancelling most of their Wii stuff, and the reason why they still surviving is because they doing tons of business in china.
You're right. The WiiU isn't doing too great. It doesn't have any blockbuster, system-seller games. Historically, though, those are rare for Nintendo consoles.
Also, you mean Japan. Nintendo doesn't do much business in China, mostly because China's Ministry of Culture is hellbent on keeping Japanese influence out of their country. The only reason they're still surviving isn't because they're selling to China, it's because they have a ton of money. They can afford to take some hits, make some mistakes.
I've had an XBOX 360 and the PS3 since 2008. I've had to replace my xbox 360 3 times, But the PS3? Its still surviving to this day.
Didn't realise Facepunch hated Microsoft so badly, holy shit
I like Microsoft, usually. Recently though they've gone off the deep end when it comes to greed. Xbox Live was pretty evident but then the decisions they made before back tracking over public outcry with the Xbox One basically just came out and told everyone "Hey, we don't shower and we'd like to have forceful sex with you"
honestly i had more fun with my 360 than my ps3. the 360 offered a better online experience in total and wasn't as expensive; regardless of how many good games the ps3 has now, it didn't have much worth playing at launch
kind of flipped with the current gen though. but i'm sticking to pc i guess
Nintendo hasn't really changed at all, though. They still don't do microtransactions, they still make interesting enough games in their non-Mario lines, and they still seem to want to innovate at the expense of profit.
Rusty's Real Deal Baseball is literally all micro-transactions.

This was one of the things that really put me of the 360. I had an original Xbox and it always scratched my disks, then when the 360 came out all I heard about was RROD issues and overheating
The only reason I stood by my 360 and didn't sell it was because all of my friends had xboxes, and that was the only way I could play online with them.
Now I have a PS4, and the feature I like the most about it is the livestreaming. I've spent more time watching white trash make fools of themselves than actually playing games.

I had a 360 until like the 3rd or 4th time it died, then I got a PS3.
By Microsoft's logic I should be loving my Xbox One, but I don't because I can get a lot of them on a console that is $100 cheaper, or for the PS3 I already own.
i guess i got lucky with my xbox because i still have the original launch 20gb and it works perfectly
i think it red-ringed once in like 2009 but i just had to leave it for a couple of minutes
I'm surprised we can still here Microsoft from so deep in that grave.
I'm surprised you passed 1st grade.
There was also an MS console before the xbox but retailers took it off the shelves before it even existed to make room for more PS1's
realtalk I only dust off my 360 for a gaming sesh with mates then it goes back in the cupboard for six months until it's my turn to host again
There was? I don't remember it at all, but then again, during those times, the market was dominated by the N64 and the Playstation. Can't remember if the Sega was dying, or was already dead.
We do the same, except with a PS2, and me and my friends are just about to do that in a few hours aswell with a dbz bt3 session :v:
It's the thing about consoles. They are perfect to take to a friend's house and have a split screen session.
Not quite. The PS4 is outselling the Xbox One because the Xbox One didnt satisfy consumers.
I can't tell you how many people I know, myself included, jumped ship from Xbox to PlayStation this generation.
Only reason I would even consider an Xbone at this point is Super Time Force, and that's not enough to sell it.
Which is really bad.
The only reason one should have to prefer one console over the other is because "I like certain exclusives the other console lacks", and not "this console is just an all round awful deal", and nowadays, not even the exclusives are enough to choose one over the other.
But I thought XBone was more focused on media than video games?
They really can't argue this point if they aren't as much of a video game console anymore.
MS forgot how the Playstation brand outsold the Xbox every single time.
PS2 vs Xbox? PS2 won, being the best seller of all time
PS3 vs x360? PS3 also won that last time I heard about it. Even the wii outsold the x360, but it also outsold the PS3.
PS4 vs X1? Yeah, MS knows it...
Besides, the x360 was already so increadibly behind when it was released...
And I'd never be satisfied with an x360 in my life. Small number of bland exclusives compared to the PS3 and having to pay to play online. Seriously, why force people to pay for YET ANOTHER SUBSCRIPTION on top of all the other crap you already have to pay for nowadays?
I'm not really sure where you got the PS3 outselling the 360 numbers from but that isn't the case. The 360 has sold 3 million more units then the PS3. Anyways the way I see it is if you are a fan of shooters buy an Xbox, if you like the 3rd person action adventures buy a PlayStation. All this talk of hardware is stupid as fuck. Which btw the X1 has a better CPU, the PlayStation's GPU is better but who cares? 1080P isn't the standard anymore with 4k coming out on PC. When I had a NES, I never thought god damn I want a Sega Genesis because it has better hardware. I liked my NES for the games it had. Buy a console because it has good games that you like not because it's the popular thing to get amongst 14 year old internet fanboys, or because it can do almighty amazing 1080P, games make a console good not graphics.

Actually people are buying more games for their Xbone than their PS4. The Xbone might be more media-focused than its predecessor and competitors, but to say it's more focused on media than games is just dumb.

What, the PS3 eventually outsold the 360, where are your sources?
http://www.vgchartz.com/embeds/worldwide_totals_lastgen.png?a=579
Here's my source, though it's not a big gap.
Secondly, 1080P is the standard at the moment. Could you link me some cheap 4Ks then? Because I haven't seen many people with it. 1080P is the bare minimum right now, and the fact that a "next-gen" console cannot even achieve 1080P easily in 2014 while also being priced higher than it's competitor says a lot about it.
Games do make a console good, but graphics are just as important, that's why saying "Graphics aren't everything" is a stupid argument.
The increases in graphic fidelity are due to advances in technology, which is achieved by ambition.
Go play on a CRT or Tube TV then if you want to make such an emphasis on it.
By the way, speaking of games, I remember the last exclusive that was released for the 360 was what? Another shooter? At least their competitor still takes care of their brand from the previous generation.
Stop blindly defending shitty practices, there's a problem, and supporting it is not right.
thats funny
im sitting here with my ps3 with about ~ 100 exclusive games that all kick ass
the most the 360 has is a third persion shooter with gore, a racing game and uhhhhhhhhh halo.
[editline]sd[/editline]
oh and dead rising. dont think im missing anything notable now
So now the blindwagon has gone around so far that it's the xbox that has no games now?

Resolution is "just" a number, though. I get what you're saying, but the Xbone could easily run everything at 1080p, they'd just have to change some quality settings. The PS4 is stronger, yes, but not by a huge margin.
Actually, I think this might be a wrong move for Microsoft. Now the XBone is simply a slightly (larger and) underpowered console compared to the PS4 at the exact same price point. Microsoft should probably have made the $450 offer permanent - get the Xbone+Kinect+Titanfall. Suddenly, there's an incentive to get it over the PS4. Now they're simply matching the price point, not the value.
Either they should've done the Xbone at $450 along with an exclusive, or they should've undercut the PS4 at $350 or at least made the $399 a bundle.
So now the blindwagon has gone around so far that it's the xbox that has no games now?
You automatically assume hes hooked up to the 'bandwagon hivemind machine 5.05'
Maybe hes a person with an opinion and honestly found that not many X360 games actually interested him, while many PS3 games did?
People like that exist you know, they don't have to be part of a 'blindwagon' hivemind conspiracy.
Of course PS3 owners didn't enjoy the Xbox 360, they didn't buy an Xbox ya dummy.
Well actually, I own a PS3 and XB360, and still prefer the PS3.
Basically, the XBox is great for community-related social interactions and things of that sort, whereas the PS3 is for more introverted people. I am a huge introvert, so I'm probably going to prefer the PS3, which I do.
[sp]also the Gold Membership fee still pisses me off[/sp]

If people are going to keep using "PS3 HAS NO GAMES HURR DURR" as "proof" that their console is "better," then I see no reason not to go "all of your exclusive games are shit."
Although endorphinsam's actual post is fucking dumb because he's praising exclusives which is a fucking dumb thing to do because frankly I only want to buy a singular console.
Even "PS4 > Xbone" aside, "Sony > MS"
It would be pretty neat to see average user log-in clockings for each console.

I actually don't understand this sudden love for Sony.
I mean, I own a Sony laptop, but this is a company that tried pushing propretary shit for years. Memory stick (as recently as on the fucking PS Vita), mini-disc, memory card for PS2, etc.
Yeah, Microsoft does its fair share of proprietary shit (see: Windows) as well, but when we're talking physical products Sony's obviously on top, and it's charging you out the ass for those.
Sony makes some cool products (for example, the Z2 is an amazing piece of hardware), but they pull a lot of dick moves.
PS3 was a failure compared to PS1 and PS2. PS4 is back on the right track and deffo ahead of xbox again.

As of last year, yeah. How about till now?
And how does being a fan of shooters makes you have to buy an Xbox? Because of Halo? Oh gee yay, another Halo, what joy!...

Memory cards weren't that expensive. It probably wouldn't even drive the whole price of your system to the same as the Xbox, which was kind of expensive in comparison when it came out iirc.
I never really had to pay much for my PS2 stuff at least. Even the games were cheap. I bought like 3 or 4 for 30€ once, and they aren't those kinds of games that you see on a console when its close to dying either.
I suppose the fact that you were planning to introduce a always online Drm System, region locking and force Kinect onto consumers doesn't have to do with your customers jumping ship to Sony Playstation doesn't explain it?
To be honest, I would have welcomed the idea of Xbox One if their marketing wasn't a disaster that drives people away

I still have a first model 360, and it works like a charm. Games lock up from time to time but other than that, mechanical wise, it's fine. Pretty solid system, but not as good as the original Xbox IMO.
Pretty sad that we now live in a world where console failures are normal, sometimes expected, and all the games that come out for them are released unfinished and buggy, to be fixed later.
Remember when you got an N64 game? That shit was finished when it was put on the shelves. Period.
