Hell yes, SoM was so much fun
Photo mode was a great addition too

The greatest crime of this generation so far is no other game picking up the nemesis system. Seriously it would fit in so many games it's not even funny.

I still can't believe they didn't put it in that Mad Max game they made. It would have been a perfect fit for it!
Probably would have finished the game if there was something similar to it in there.

I feel that the orc's facial expression's were designed with photo mode in mind.
It's a shame I can't say the same about the protagonist

Maybe it's bullshit but there was giant leak for the next Batman game. The leak said it would have the nemesis system and that criminals could level up and become costumed villains.
The nemesis system was really neat because it gave dying consequences other than having to start over
what is there to master?
Fuck off with this video. He's fighting at the edge of one of the weakest camps in the game on a fully levelled character, and all he's doing is spamming dodge. Every time Shadow of Mordor is brought up this stupid video is brought out.
The combat should be hard (preferably by giving the player less health and making enemies smarter), but what he's doing is like dodging enemies in the Undead Burg in Dark Souls and going "Look how easy this game is, the enemies are so slow."
I hope that the nemesis system can be enhanced in this game, not to say it was bad in Shadow of Mordor.
I just had a problem with some uruks that weren't horribly scarred after I beat them using a certain way when they came back, then again it could be due to how randomized the nemeses in SoM were.

When it did happen it was really satisfying, I remember having this overpowered nemesis that could only be killed with one particular wraith ability.
After I burned him to death with said ability- he came back with stark white skin, black veins, and glowing blue eyes- with his bio saying that other Uruks now distrusted and feared him because he was tainted by the wraith.
I love shit like that in games because it's memorable, I ended up making him one of my top warchief's. Making it more consistent would be a great idea.

While I enjoyed Shadow of Mordor, pretty much every aspect of the game asides from the Nemesis system was average, especially the combat.
I'm hoping this game's combat will be something more like you see in Platinum's games and less like something you would see in the Batman Arkham games.
It needs combos like Sleeping Dogs. Sleeping Dogs also had the same simple combat(attack, grab, dodge) but the combos made the game fun and gave you control over the character unlike in this game and the Arkham series where batman does all these sick flips and combos but with only one button press
Shadow of War[sp]dor[/sp]?
What utter and compete incompetence, Indo hope they keep the nemesis system though.
I'm not even a big LotR fan, but the premise of this game has always bugged me from a lore standpoint

From what I've seen of Celebrimboo he seems pretty cool, but his whole premise is rather oddly convenient. The game almost seems to action-y for LOTR, oddly enough. It's still pretty rad though.
but will i be able to live out my fetish dream of playing an uruk in this one
They'll probably do the typical "oh no you were super powerful but at the start of the game somebody fucked you up and you lost your powers"
You dropped your bag and there's totally no way you can go out of your way to go recover that fucking super important bag full of weapons, better chug on with the Wonder Weiner 9000 in the hopes you'll find the Huge McFuckingMurderCannon 900,000,001 again!

Max Payne 3 was the worst fucking game about that. "Hold on, let me drop/offhand this full-sized battle rifle so I can aimlessly point my fucking Taurus at a guy wearing ballistic armor!"
As a big LOTR fan I stayed away from this game because the entire concept just looked like horrible fanfiction. Never knew people actually ended up liking it.

The story wasn't anything special and really just served as a vehicle for the otherwise great gameplay. It suffered from open-world syndrome with a whole bunch of irritating collectibles and some uninteresting sidequests, but the concept is worth a sequel.
I don't really see what people saw in the original game aside form the nemesis system. Bought the game during a sale, figured out that the core combat was brainless and that I could take down strongholds by just mashing the attack and counter button and kill everything without taking damage, doesn't help that you're also invincible if you keep mashing dodge. I was playing on the hardest difficulty and there was absolutely no challenge or anything to be mastered and once I figured that out I promptly uninstalled the game.

Fucks sake, even musou games have more depth than Shadows of Mordor.
The Nemesis System is the only part of the game that anyone cared about

Jonathin Mordor was kill by evil ghosts, but he accidentally one of the evil ghosts n got magic powers n now come back 4 revenge Sauron
fun fact: the PS3/360 versions of this game didn't have the nemesis system
hell, I didn't even know they made PS3/360 versions until recently
edit: i was wrong, they do have the nemesis system but it's very scaled back compared to ps4/xbone/pc. you're even more likely to get the same orcs as you fought before.
check out this amazing footage of the 360 version tho

i'd argue that this is the only open world syndrom-esque game that does not suffer from open world syndrome

It kinda does, however the dynamic added by the nemesis system covers it up. Without Orc captains to hunt down, or be ambushed by- and later corrupt and influence, it would just be a big map with some towers you scale effortlessly to unlock more of the map, with irritating little side quests and dull collectables like herbs and tiles dotted about.
Don't get me wrong I really really like the game, but it definitely has open world syndrome lurking beneath everything it did right.

So yeah. Looks like all your powers poof away at the start of the game. But you get a chrome ring of power. Like a regular ring of power, but MANLY.
Can't wait to see what they have to reveal! Currently doing another playthrough and was just telling my roommate as well about how it's set up for a sequel but haven't heard any news about it. And then this shit pops up in the thread feed. Looks like you're separated from Celebrimbor but maybe the ring that was forged still enables some or all of the wraith abilities minus the occasional conversation that occurs within Talion. Or not, he may have a connection to the wraith with the ring to help find him.
The fact that celebrimbor fucks off seconds into the trailer bothers me a little.
He was the side of the protagonist that I actually found interesting. I always found Talion boring with his generic and bland dead family origin story, so shifting the focus entirely onto him is probably going to make the story less interesting from my perspective.
I imagine he's the damsel to rescue now
I imagine he's the damsel to rescue now
Yeah that's the impression I got, with the silver ring of power granting you the wraith powers instead of Celebrimbor's shade.
I guess this means they are likely going to be ditching the cool phasing between wraith and ranger effects too, bummer.
