Why not all of them? no one is worth less intrinsically than another
But who would you rather teach first? The person willing and eager to learn, or the person who is not interested and motivated? Who would you rather help first? The person who is trying to become a better person, or the person who wants to continue committing selfish and evil acts?
I'm just shocked he did it the day after it was born. Like he seriously just couldn't wait or something, the moment he saw a new child on the planet, he just had to right there right now.
Yeah as opposed to doing it when they're 12 or older thats so much better...
I don't think we should kill this guy, I think he should be put to experimentation so that we can figure out what the hell is wrong with him. Not to help him or "reinstate him to society", but literally just to know how the hell this guy can even "function", what thoughts are even going through his head. To figure out what on earth posessed him to something like this - continously at that. Like, I'm sitting here trying to work it out and this guy is a total enigma. I'm drawing blanks. I'm absolutely fascinated by the human mind, I love everything about it and I love studying it and working out the wonders of the brain - but I can't even process this, I don't even know where to start. All I can think is: WHY? My brain is like a library, okay? Open all day, closes at night. And my thoughts are like people, coming in and finding facts and sources to get information and opinions. But this specific thought, it steps up to the doors and they just close. Immediately. And the thought wonders why. And the guards say "There's nothing for you here." And that never happens. I've never been this dumbfounded and unable to even begin to understand. HELP. [editline].[/editline] Also I might just have made the best analogy ever.
Yeah as opposed to doing it when they're 12 or older thats so much better...
Neither is better
What a freak
What. The. Fuck. This lowlife scum should get the death penalty.
Why not all of them? no one is worth less intrinsically than another
Real life doesn't work this way, as others have pointed out. We cannot help everyone simultaneously, and not everyone can be helped. Just philosophically, there's no consensus on who exactly deserves to be helped and why it's right to help them or why we should ignore them for that matter. So we have to prioritize and accept the fact not everyone is valuable, that some people are more valuable than others are, and that some people still truly have no value or purpose to exist period within the parameters we've set to determine how our society shall function and what it shall stand for in its principles (their lifestyle just doesn't jive with ours-- whether they're murderers, rapists, thieves, general douchebags, etc.). And that's just how simple it is. This notion that all human life has value needs to die, because it's unrealistic to the point of being completely false. I remember when bin Laden was killed, and people were speaking this same high-minded moralist bullshit and scolding us for celebrating his death because "it's wrong; all life has value, even his!" Ridiculous.
This is one of the rare circumstances that I advocate the death penalty.
Exactly I really wish the corrections system in the US/Britain/Australasia was geared towards actually encouraging reform with compassion and teaching people how to be better, rather than throwing every convicted criminal in a shit-hole where the only thing they're gonna learn is how to be really good at recidivism
once maybe, but he continued for 5 years....so ya he's actually really fucked up
"You should expect a sentence to reflect your level of criminality."
Hopefully that means death after a single appeal.
The BBC is jealous.
YOOOOOOOOOO that's gross
That is the most fucked up thing i've read in a while.
-snip dumbpost-
I can't believe people in here don't want to give this guy a death sentence. HE RAPED A FUCKING BABY
Because some people here don't react with emotions or anger. I think he deserves a proper trial for crimes done that fit him with a proper sentence and locked away. In the perfect world he would receive mental help. Desiring him to be tortured or killed does not stop what has happened.
I don't see what a death sentence would result in at all, his crime was extremely horrendous but killing him does nothing. It's petty revenge, no one is benefitted from his death at all.
Also on a more blunt level, this is an internet forum mostly populated by 20 year old gamers. I don't feel that you should be taking anyone's opinion seriously, not even mine.
I don't see what a death sentence would result in at all, his crime was extremely horrendous but killing him does nothing. There's fucked up, and then there's really, REALLY fucked up beyond all repair.
I get that these sort of people are often suffering from genuine issues and need therapy/counselling but fucking hell, a one day old baby? Preying on children is crossing the fucking line as it is but this is just depravity at its base form. I honestly wouldn't feel any sympathy whatsoever if an attack of similar brutality (but not sexual) was made upon this fuck in prison.
well, at least you support the right revenge prison violence!!! just lock the fuck up, killing ain't gonna do shit but satisfy revenge boners.
death sentence is more expensive than life in prison.
Justice comes at any cost
I don't see what a death sentence would result in at all, his crime was extremely horrendous but killing him does nothing. It's petty revenge, no one is benefitted from his death at all.
the benefits of keeping him alive are just about as questionable. i just want to express the fact that i am against capital punishment, but i'm not very keen on the idea of reintroducing anyone who has committed such atrocious acts back into society. this is a deeply disturbed individual, and if you think about what sort of implications would follow the very unlikely rehabilitation of said individual, you'd wonder just how someone could live with themselves after doing something so traumatizing. this is an issue beyond my judgment, i'm utterly befuddled by what could drive one to do something so inhumane for something as petty as personal benefit.
I wonder if the people against the death penalty realise life in prison with no chance of parole is torture. So death=cruelty and revenge driven, and life in a concrete cell and fenced off exercise yard for 50 years AND THEN death=compassion? Brilliant

Brilliant
I can't speak for the morality of killing people vs letting them rot for 50 years. You know what I can speak for? False positives that have happened in the past where innocent people were killed under the death penalty and than found to be innocent. It is preferable to have life in prison because guilty people stay there where they can cause no harm and innocent people can be released and gain their life back.
I think this is just too far gone to be corrected. I just can't imagine a mind that is capable and has the urge to do such things being corrected in any kind of detention facility.
Yea, I dont see any way to rehabilitate a guy who raped a child right out of the womb practically, I just dont get how anyone could molest a child that small, I cant even fathom it guy should atleast get life without parole so the govt doesnt have to waste money to kill him, inmates would probably do that to him anyways
to everyone calling for the guy to be killed the death sentence is unbelievably barbaric, no matter what the individual in question does bye
Congrats, you just restated the opening argument that's been regurgitated since the death penalty has existed. It's still here in some states, so clearly that tactic is a bit flawed. So are you gonna back it up and participate in the greater discussion or are you just gonna continue this cunty cowardly passive agressive "bye" shit?
