After listening to feedback, EA kills the Online Pass for all future titles

EA is listening to the community?
Is this even real life any more?
Now if they'll release future Star Wars games on Steam....
Not fair how one publisher gets exclusive rights. Before that announcement I was looking forward to SW titles made by dev teams that aren't total slaves.
Didn't the CEO say they will try to not get on the America's Worst Company thing again? Because this is a good start.
what did i post
I'm a little nervous about this...is EA just going to make everything one-time so that used games won't play online at all?

Did they? Where?
And the reason they got those dumb awards is because it just so happened EA stirred up the community just when the voting started. Mass Effect 3's ending for last year and always-online SimCity this year.
The downside of course is that this will be just another reason for EA to try to restrict used game sales, with the online pass model they could still make money off them.
Call me when they kill day one DLC.
Maybe they'll release future games on Steam.
Or Wii U.
Wow, now I can rent EA games again. I wonder if other publishers are going to follow this, just like they followed EA when they introduced these passes with BFBC2

I seriously find no problem with day one DLC. It's always something that either doesn't change the game in any real way (cars, skins, buildings, etc), something that changes it in a small way like guns, or the pre-order/special edition DLC.
Maybe EA is realizing that they need to improve or they'll become the next Ubisoft.
Although I can't say I'm happy with Ubisoft either I also can't say they're as bad as EA. Activision seems like a better comparison but, then again, I haven't had to suffer a lot of Ubi's more negative business decisions lately since I only recently started becoming more focused on PC gaming.
Good riddance.

Somehow I don't see Activision giving up their $40 online passes. Gotta find Bobby Kotick's millions somewhere.
I'd reserve judgement until we find out if they are really doing away with this due to user dissatisfaction or because they've devised a different, more lucrative to themselves way of doing this. For all we know, they could announce something along the lines of "multiplayer is now handled through Origin 4 Consolez, which has both a activation fee(per game) and a monthly subscription".

Activision has online passes? News to me.
Holy shit, they are finally changing. I never thought this day would come.
Shouldn't have taken this long but good on them.

They don't have online passes.
Don't get me wrong, it was a really neat idea and had a just cause backing it up, but it's just not a viable solution overall. I hope the industry does find a way to stem used sales though, used sales are the worst because none of the money (literally NONE) goes to the developers.

Everything done by a company you don't like isn't an angle to get money.
Watch as they replace it with Pay-per-Play.
maybe they'll remove microtransactions

Sure, Valve should do that too.
There is hope for the world yet. EA actually listened to the consumer.
You guys thought I was crazy when I trusted Gibeau to be better than Riccitiello.
Good news for console players - I'd never buy a console game new at full price.
I am suspicious since it's EA that they will find something more horrible to replace them with.
With PC games I'm kind of ok with single activation for multiplayer and online services because the prices tend to be way lower for the games initially.
with the new consoles rumored not to be able to play used games, the online pass would be pointless anyways.
key word in your sentence is rumored
I'm not entirely sure they would go that far, a lot of people can't afford to buy brand new games - they'd lose out unless they reduced the standard new price across the board.

Rumored after an EA exec LITERALLY said that the passes are going away?

Wait I read that wrong. Excuse me
Activision has online passes? News to me.
Do they not? I could have sworn I saw a Gamestop employee shaking down some kid for a $40 online pass who was buying a used CoD title. That was a while ago, though.
