When have people ever paid attention to what's okay
Mostly everyone has gone over the speed limit in their car
You're not meant to,
you're putting others at risk
But still people do it

Herp.
Read the first line.
You can still search "torrent"
It just wont auto complete (to(rrent) <-- rrent being in the autocomplete) and it wont instant search

Did you agree with yourself so you can feel better about the box's or what.
BING IS MY NEW HOMEPAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!i!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love how much over-reacting is in this thread. I wouldn't have even noticed the change to google if I hadn't seen this thread.
I highly doubt this is any sort of potential censorship, they wouldn't risk that, there's no unobvious way they could go from this to censoring anything without the internet freaking the fuck out, and they aren't going to risk that, and by the odd chance they do, they'll fix it faster than fuck--
Yarg! They be stealin' me maps!
How will I find my linux distros now?
No matter how much you guys want it to be piracy is not okay.
I'd agree, but they mark up the prices to such a ridiculous level there's no wonder people pirate shit
I love how much over-reacting is in this thread. I wouldn't have even noticed the change to google if I hadn't seen this thread.
uhhh it's not the effect of the censorship that matters, it's the idea that google censored anything at all.
and don't bring up the fact that porn related terms are blocked too, that's for practicality. if they weren't blocked, you would be bombarded by pornographic terms every time you started to search for something.
Like the first poster stated, Google clearly is evil.

It's a sad day when corporations bend to corporate interests... Wait, what?

They're just making sure they're covered. In the same way that you don't want to accidentally search for porn, maybe there are people that don't want to accidentally search for warez? Sounds stupid perhaps but I don't really see the problem. I highly doubt google will actually restrict the searching for warez, considering that they haven't restricted searching for porn after all this time of porn autocomplete not being around. The point that this could lead the way to full on censorship is retarded also for that reason, that it has already been around concerning porn. And probably other topics that we haven't noticed!
People are exaggerating this way too much, like I said, I wouldn't have even realised were it not for this thread, and I'm sure other people searching for torrents wouldn't have realised.
Why doesn't the torrent industry just change it's name to something else?

Sue for what? It is a private company and a private website. Not having your website show up is not a right but a privilege.

google does not depend on the 5 thousand or so neck beards who will boycott them for this. everyone and their grandmother uses google.
Grandmothers do not know or care what a torrent is.
Pirates are the scum of the fucking earth, poor fucks.
Murderers and rapists have nothing on pirates.
:downs:
You can't get autocomplete results when you start typing in "Incest gangbang scat videos", doesn't mean people into that shit (:rimshot:) can't google it.
Came in expecting Nazis, found only the usual.
I mean, Google doesn't autocomplete "Asian Ass Porn" for me, so yeah... call me when it's big.
One is attempting to stop children from accidentally seeing pornography because nudity is bad or something
the other is listening to suits in a boardroom who'd like to see the internet locked down eventually
there's a difference
Autocomplete today, the world tomorrow.
Oh NO! I have to..... Type in the full search term myself? :smithicide:
Even if they blocked the search terms, it wouldn't really matter.
Most downloads you can just find by searching for <whatever> download anyway, legal or not.
