Google caves to entertainment industry, begins censoring certain terms
They're just making sure they're covered. In the same way that you don't want to accidentally search for porn, maybe there are people that don't want to accidentally search for warez? Sounds stupid perhaps but I don't really see the problem. I highly doubt google will actually restrict the searching for warez, considering that they haven't restricted searching for porn after all this time of porn autocomplete not being around. The point that this could lead the way to full on censorship is retarded also for that reason, that it has already been around concerning porn. And probably other topics that we haven't noticed!
People are exaggerating this way too much, like I said, I wouldn't have even realised were it not for this thread, and I'm sure other people searching for torrents wouldn't have realised.
If pornography related terms weren't blocked, you would basically get nothing but pornography related suggestions when beginning your search. Schools use google, kids use google, my grandparents use google. The idea is to keep you from being exposed to pornography via the instant search and highly explicity language via autocomplete every time you begin to type in innocent search terms. It's not a matter of morality or censorship, it's practicality.
Very rarely would you be inadvertently exposed to warez via the instant search/autocomplete, and who would find that offensive anyway?
This isn't pragmatism, this is Google caving into the RIAA and the MPAA. What about dangerous precedent is so hard to understand? History shows one act of censorship is never enough. It always escalates. And believe me, if they had their way, they'd do a lot more than remove autocomplete results.
Big whoop, it doesn't automatically finish your search for bittorrent.
This has never stopped me from finding porn it is not a big deal
I don't use autocomplete anyways, it's a hunk of shit.
autocomplete was working for me earlier but weird

They do have their way. Google is well within their rights to completely remove any torrent-related results if they wanted to.
All you people making a big deal out of it are overreacting morons
Overreactive, yes, morons.. not really. It is a bit of a bad sign of things to come.
