i think it looks ok
The memes don't actually have anything to do with the logo though, right?
I wonder what was the fucking point of putting a cat in there. To be "cool" I guess. [t]http://i.imgur.com/4YiAFxE.png[/t]

[t]http://i.imgur.com/4YiAFxE.png[/t]
The cat's name is Lil Bub and is a bit of a "meme" in a way, so it sort of fits in with the other images they used that use.. well, memes. I think the new logo by itself is fine, but they should really drop the meme stuff and the weird colorful frilly shit. It's.. confusing to look at.
Couldn't resist.
At least they can only work their way up in terms of logo quality now.
Feels like they're incorporating all the aesthetic faults of the internet into their brand. The cacophony of unsorted images, messy icons and text inputs, and orderly lines mixed with elaborate, random art... Nice. I mean, sure, I feel they kinda do grasp how browsing the internet 'feels', but it's not the good parts about it.
The memes aren't actually part of the logo though, right?
sounds like random garageband loops
eh, it's alright
Bear in mind that Mozilla themselves aren't exactly a public facing company, most of their work is in the development of web standards after all. so "in jokes" like the '://' aren't anywhere near as abhorrent to use in the logo as people who interact with them tend to actually know what that means. The public "know" Mozilla for Firefox. But the public image Mozilla have opted for this is to just use the Firefox name. The browser is just Firefox. The mobile OS is Firefox OS. The mobile browser is Firefox Mobile. Mozilla's name isn't really used in the branding of their one remaining popular product. It appears on the product, sure. But it's not what I'd call common knowledge.
I like the :// because that's how I feel when I try to use Firefox and it crashes 3 times in 5 minutes
I like it, it has a 90s style deconstructive style to it that I really dig.
Couldn't resist.
All I could think of when I saw it was this
The logo itself (the text with the '://' protocol separator is really really neat, I dig it being a nerd) but the images...? The 'OK', the memes? I like the "a e s t h e t i c s" they're trying to go for, however while the coloring is okay, and the first logo with the 'OK' hand is actually bearable, the last two filled with dead internet memes are just bad. As long as they don't touch the Firefox logo I'll be neutral towards the matter as I don't visit their webpage daily, or see their logo as often as I see Firefox's.
This looks like some really bad clip art to me...
Oh wow. This is my area of expertise, as a design journalist and freelance graphic designer. 0/10 with rice*. It's shit. This is basically the one thing you're not supposed to do in logo design, and graphic design more generally. :// is an obscure thing that most people aren't even aware of today, as browsers abstract it and hide it away under a prettier "domain.com" display. With the exception of nerds, very few people who use Mozilla's products are going to get this. Which is basically making a logo out of an in-joke. Your public-facing brand image should not be an in-joke. Aside from the obvious, the font is shit, the leading is shit, the memes are shit, and the colors are far too loud and irrelevant. Furthermore, it doesn't do anything creative or innovative. There was an interesting concept for a morphological logo that they showed off last year that, while not immediately obvious or even very good, was at least interesting enough to be created. It conveyed the message of Mozilla a little bit better, which is an always-changing data-driven software company. This logo, by comparison, likely had a design meeting that probably went something like "Hey, you guys know that thing web browsers used to do that nobody really understood? What if we put that in the logo?" Anyway, yeah, it's shit. It's unequivocally, entirely, totally shit. *I thought it was relevant, as Mozilla appears to be a meme company now.
If you think that's bad, you should have seen their other designs. it looks exactly like my ISP's logo, also retarded "Cool Kids" type
fuck the pictures, the logo is nice but fuck the pictures
Looks like vaporwave lol
gonna miss this cool motherfucker [t]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/5c/Mozilla_dinosaur_head_logo.png[/t]
lol so the consensus is that this new logo is a piece of shit, but somehow this old one is a good logo... it's literally fine what are you guys talking about I swear everytime a logo for a tech company gets a redesign where it simplifies and gets rid of the datedness, everyone bitches and calls it a shitty logo. Is it just because people don't like things they're not used to, so they try and make up something they don't like about it? This logo's great. It's versatile, it's modern, but also it pays homage to the earlier internet.

it looks hella good tbh
People who say they like it: Are you talking about the base logo or the ones with clipart and memes completely randomly strewn about?
People who say they like it: Are you talking about the base logo or the ones with clipart and memes completely randomly strewn about?
The whole thing. They're well designed digital collages. It's a shame they're memes, that's pretty lame, though memes are an important post modern cultural icon of our time, but as photomontages go, they're well designed, these things aren't random, you don't pay a massive design studio for random. They pay homage to a lot of 90s work while still feeling contemporary.
The meme stuff is dumb IMO, but the actual "Moz://a" part of the logo is great and frankly, this:
gonna miss this cool motherfucker [t]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/5c/Mozilla_dinosaur_head_logo.png[/t]
Is just shitty. It looks like some college football team's logo... As crummy as the memes are it's at least more representative of what Mozilla actually is.

Its ok
Someone made an edit of the Open Button design with Firefox colours and it looked much better than everything else they showed.
I actually like the internet of people design a lot with the logotype. It looks a lot more professional while being interesting to look at.
If you think that's bad, you should have seen their other designs. It's a terrible logo that means nothing, but the idea behind it was creative. Truth be told, though, none of them are particularly good. And, honestly, the old logo wasn't great either. So this is probably a net-zero change.
