• Russia claims captured Russian troops 'in Ukraine by accident'

Lol russians.
Something's extremely fishy, but if the soldiers' testaments are true then I have a feeling all the military reforms in Russia still haven't brought their troops up to par with the others.
Save us, oh Holy Trinity of Conscript, Muffinzerg and Katamari-... Kamatra-... Kaxamat-.. That third guy.
KARIMATRIX! I SUMMON THEE! Now this thread is doomed, here, I spared you all the waiting.
Could well have been an accident, deploying to the front and drove too far. Disguising the vehicle identification would make sense if you are building up forces and don't want spies to get an accurate count on your numbers.
Why not wormholes? Also explains that 150km jump, that was told above.

Wait they're paratroopers? 'Yes so that cyka Dimitri accidentally heff open hetch on airplen and everyone on plane accidentally trip on something at same time and stumble out the beck and land in Ukraine, is of accident and beeg misunderstend nyet worryings'
Wait they're paratroopers? In Russia paratroopers are one of the elite parts of military forces and are often used without any parachutes involved.

'Yes so that cyka Dimitri accidentally heff open hetch on airplen and everyone on plane accidentally trip on something at same time and stumble out the beck and land in Ukraine, is of accident and beeg misunderstend nyet worryings'
They also coincidentally happened to have all been wearing parachutes at the time. They were just captured by accident.
Russia's PR response basically amounts to: *Handwave* "These are not the troops you are looking for."
Some say if you say Karimatrix three times fast he comes through your monitor and turns you into a russian.
Yeah, but they can be easily discerned on bodies. Also, what sense do they make in this situation? As far as i know, their main purpose is to distinguish bodies (which is undesirable in secret missions) and to provide some medical information. The latter usually can also be found on a uniform.
It's kinda two sided. On one hand you want to maintain a way to keep them from being seen to fast and on the other you want the conventions to apply to them as well. Plus imagine if the Ukrainians attacked and killed the lot. Putin would have a powder keg on how the evil ukrainians are killing our soldiers who only came as part of a humanitarian mission or something.

Putin's bait isn't working.
Don't worry, any second now we'll have some Russians coming in to tell us that this is just Western propaganda and should be ignored.
While I agree with you in this case, I still do think it's good to remain sceptical about all media, even western. People too often think "Oh, this is western media. Propaganda is impossible!" If I'm ever uncertain about a news story, I look at the same story from 3 or 4 sources from around the world. Whichever parts of the story remain the same in all of them are likely to be true, and the ones that change by region are likely propaganda.
Okay, I think I've figured out why they didn't know where they were:
Okay, that's just hilarious. How fucking deep in denial can they be? [editline]26th August 2014[/editline] Also, how shit are you at "black ops" missions when you paint over the markings on your vehicles, but you let your soldiers keep their dogtags?[/QUOTE They're not in denial they just suck at invading Ukraine and are lying about it.
