I've tried US rations, that fucking peanut butter is the best thing I've ever tasted.
I tried the Singapore one, in camp. Terrible. They give you chicken porridge. Who the fuck eats porridge in the middle of the jungle. Worse of all, I took my platoon mates portions because I thought it'll be good.
Glutinous rice with chicken and peanut is waaaayy better :v:
If you get a chance try the US Chicken Ala king MRE. Not the best food obviously, but its surprisingly delicious.
the USA of American food rations are clearly the best.
I've tried US rations, that fucking peanut butter is the best thing I've ever tasted.
It is always a happy day when I get blueberry cobbler in my MRE package.
The tabasco was the source of many jokes when I was in the CCF, one guy had at least 5 poured into his dinner one time.
I could probably do 5. Pretty sure I could. I've used the best part of a tablespoon over two pieces of cheese on toast before, and they look like they're 4 ml or so. I'd be swearing profusely at whoever decided to stick it in there though.
I'm surprised the German rations don't contain beer. Well Avvy, excuse me for not reading the article.
The chicken tikka seems so typical of the British army, at the army shows I've been to all the army chefs have at the food stand is chicken tikka, and on the army info pack dvd the only thing you see cooking is the stuff
I had an American spaghetti MRE once. It was literally a thousand times better than any spaghetti that comes out of a can.
I were in the Norwegian army a year ago. The package shown in the picture is one we at least only got in the summer. The food itself tastes like and looks like catfood. And it is not often you get the tooty frooties... Since the guys who delivered the packages to us often scavenged all the good stuff.
Thats just fucking douchy.
I had an American spaghetti MRE once. It was literally a thousand times better than any spaghetti that comes out of a can.
Some MREs are really fucking good, like the Beef stew one, or the Maple Sausage. But the majority are absolutely awful. Word of advice, avoid the veggie burger and the Beef Brisket, the veggie burger is half caramelized and burned, the Beef brisket is basically foil packed dog food, even when hot. If you want a case or two though, go to Ebay, try to pay less than $60 with shipping. I nabbed a case for $45, but shipping was $20, so i paid $65 for 12 meals, and about half of them were so nasty i had to throw them out, not that they were bad, just tasted like ass.
america is the only one that has pizza so they win by default [editline]26th February 2014[/editline]
can-opener-cum-spoon
a what
america is the only one that has pizza so they win by default [editline]26th February 2014[/editline] a what
Cum is a latin word which can mean "with" and a few other things. In that instance it's just another way to write "the can opener also acts as a spoon".
Keep in mind that these rations arent meant to just be taken as a packed lunch to office. a lot of these contain a shitton of sodium, much more than your typical food. Soldiers sweat a lot during their work and they need to extra packed salt and calories so that they may function properly out in the field. Id rather not eat these often unless youre daily activities are as strenuous and demanding as an infantryman.
I'm surprised by how many countries have muesli in their MREs. Seems to be more popular in Europe than I thought.
These food rations are no luxury. Probably can keep you from starving for three days at max.
These food rations are no luxury. Probably can keep you from starving for three days at max.
Wrongo. Complete opposite, they're jam packed with carbs, calories, sodium, and fats. They're designed to keep you going for very long periods of time. Because of this, at least in the U.S. Military, Service members by regulation are not supposed to eat them for more than 21 days straight.
These food rations are no luxury. Probably can keep you from starving for three days at max.
iirc they are loaded with fuckloads of calories to keep your body going
I want to try Japanese rations. They come with rice (obviously) fish dishes, sausages, crackers and pickles. Which sounds great to me. [t]http://www.geocities.jp/lm_ration/image/jp2-01.jpg[/t] [t]http://www.geocities.jp/lm_ration/image/jp1.jpg[/t]
These food rations are no luxury. Probably can keep you from starving for three days at max.
I know the American MRE has around 1300 calories, and I would expect that others have similar figures. http://www.mreinfo.com/us/mre/mres.html
I remember seeing this posted on imgur a few days ago, and it reminded me that I had a few MREs left over, so I went to go check to see when they expire. They were packaged in 2011, and wont go bad until 2016.
I have some MRE's from 2010. Buffalo Chicken (Out of Production) Best kind of MRE. The Dairy Drink Mix was recalled due to Somanila scare, so I can't drink that but everything else will be good for a rainy day or an two day long airsoft match.
"Military chocolate. The taste of victory". Mmmmmm....
Or, as American troops during the second world war called it, "Hitler's Secret Weapon".

Those food choices look especially terrible (canned shiitake and takuan?) No thanks.
really surprised Estonia is on here
Ours has some surprisingly good stuff
even more surprised about this
Cheese Tortellini best MRE.
Cheese Tortellini best MRE.
Chilli and beans. Fight me!
Chilli and beans. Fight me!
Does Chili and Beans come with The Brownie? Didn't think so!
Why don't our rations have booze like the Italians get?
Why don't our rations have booze like the Italians get?
Impairs judgement and motor skills.
