I don't see the big deal about changing the lights on a building to celebrate various things.
I'm a new yorker
Insert word into thread: Communism
Prepare for arguments over silly things
Blame Obama.
In my opinion the colors look terrible. Communism or McDonalds?
fuck you you made me hungry :frown:
That's a pretty nice thing they did.
Or the other Chinese Flag(not Communist China).

I wouldn't say the PRC is really our friend. More like a Country that has economic goals and means that coincide with out own.
Or Japan

They just want to join in :frown:
Hadn't you heard the joke?
The soviets wondered why US did nothing when they painted the moon red...
...Until the Americans painted "Coca Cola" after they had finished.
It would be cooler if they used lights to project a portrait of Chairman Mao onto each face of the building
:911:
Why not fly the Chinese flag over the top of the Empire State building while we're at it? After all, our over-exuberant, extremely zealous endeavor to suck up to China should not only be portrayed at night! Let the Chinese colors shine and the Chinese flag fly high and bright in the same city that 9/11 happened!

Wait what does China have to do with 9/11?

What does 9/11 have to do with china?
Also this is just celebrating china not communism idiots.
Wait what does China have to do with 9/11?
Absolutely nothing. I just find it hilariously ironic that the city which America used like the Alamo against terrorism is celebrating the Chinese birthday.
How come we never hear of America celebrating the birthday of other countries? I, myself, would love to see some good ol' celebration of the Ukraine! Maybe Japan? Perhaps even a united Vietnam!
that's pretty cool.

Okay...so what does China have to do with Terrorism?
Okay...so what does China have to do with Terrorism?
Lol, you're misinterpreting me. I'm merely finding it interesting that of all the places to celebrate the birthday of China, it was the same place that eight years ago (almost exactly), America was united to that same city in a surge of patriotism. Now we're using the city to celebrate OTHER countries.
But why does New York and the Empire State Building get all the love? Why not the tower over in Seattle? Why not the Sears Tower? Why should NYC get all the fun?
They've infiltrated our government-

I think you're over-thinking it.

So you're operating under the belief that we are better than everyone else? Sure, it's a bit of a strange thing to celebrate, but at the same time, it's better than spitting in their face. They aren't an enemy, we are economic allies, we need eachother to survive, so why not have a little brotherly love?
America sucking Chinas dick.

How about we neither spit in their faces OR celebrate them?
Also, just because we have economic ties with them doesn't mean they're our best friends. We have economic ties with nations that hate our guts, but money is money. We had economic ties with the former USSR, and we were on the edge of nuclear war with them.
And China isn't that communist as people may think, it's capitalistic as hell...

North Korea is the only true Communist place left on the planet.
North Korea is the only true Communist place left on the planet.
And Cuba, at least according to the USA:s "List2Diss"
And Cuba, at least according to the USA:s "List2Diss"
Cuba has an excellent cigar economy, it's not Communist.
And Cuba, at least according to the USA:s "List2Diss"
The "official" communist nations left on the planet are PRC, NK, Cuba and Vietnam, I believe. But that's only the official. I'm not debating whether they are or not. (At this time, anyways. I'm sure it'll come soon in the thread.)
What?! Get al-Qaeda on the line, now
What?! Get al-Qaeda on the line, now
"Hello Sir, welcome to Al-Qaeda Help and Support, press 1 if your bomb isn't setting off, press 2 if you can't get through airport security, press 3 for a free YALALALALA, press 4 for other issues.
Yay for communism.
China isn't really that Communist once you think about it. They're pretty much a closet capitalist.
Basically yeah it is a closet capitalist but
all of the capitallist areas are near the shores while the inners are communism :P
