YYYY/MM/DD is where it's at you guys are all fucking weirdos.
And now the thread is a date format debate...
Well the news article wasn't news worthy. Maybe we should have a thread to discuss time and date formats. Anyway, ISO 8601 is best format for displaying date and time. 2013-11-16T05:19:36+00:00

Anyway, ISO 8601 is best format for displaying date and time. 2013-11-16T05:19:36+00:00
Well I find this debate interesting. I didn't know there were many time and date formats.
That really too fucking bad I think stupid fucking YYYY/MM/DD or DD/MM/YYYY shit is retarded too but you don't see me crying about it. In the U.S.A. and iirc Canada we have our shit placed exactly like we say it. November 16, 2013 Thus 11/16/2013 Stop fucking complaining about such a non issue. If you want to know the proper release date of a movie then just Google it.
Hate to do this. Cyan = DMY Rest are a mix of MDY and some werid formats. Kinda the minority really.
month day year/day month year shit
Who the fuck cares
and who cares if we are the minority. The whole point of my post was to say the U.S. doesn't have to do shit the way you do.
I am simply suggesting that perhaps to save everyone in the world having confusion people should adopt a common format. Clearly the best one for this would be the most common one. MDY doesn't even make logical sense.
That's all that I have to say.
American and I format my dates as such: 16 November 2013
I've always thought that dd/mm/yy should be the standard since it goes left to right from the most important number to the least, most of the time i'm just interested to know what day it is since that's the one number that changes 30 fucking times a month and in most languages we read from left to right so that should be the number we get to see first and not the damn month. Also, confusion.

Future historians will look back and say that this thread started the second revolutionary war.
No it makes perfectly logical sense. We aren't using your dumb pyramids with Year > Month > Day and vice versa. We're writing the date down exactly as we say it. It is the easiest and most literal way of doing it for people in the U.S. You keep saying it doesn't make sense because you aren't even putting the tiniest effort to understand why people here use it. and personally I don't even care if everyone else is confused. That's really too bad
This sort of attitude thing that causes a lot of people have issues with your country and the people who inhabit it, FYI.
We will get the same news next month on the 11th in Australia >_>
Really piss off alot of people from the U.K. don't even attempt to fucking understand the U.S. but have the gall to spout shit like they know everything about our countries culture. For fucks sake you couldn't even understand why our country uses MM/DD/YYYY. Because really, how fucking hard is it to understand that "We say it like this so thats why our date format is similar." Its not a hard concept but you have to keep saying its illogical because it really needs to be fucking placed in Greater than --> Less than or vice versa in order for it to be logical.
why are you so upset about this
why are you so upset about this
Why are people so upset about the U.S. method of writing the date [editline]oh hamburgers[/editline] Maybe I should stop reading threads late at night
actually it's 11-12-2013 14:15 don't try to sneak away two digits
Why are people so upset about the U.S. method of writing the date
No one apart from Primigenes seems to have any emotions about this either way.
No one apart from Primigenes seems to have any emotions about this either way.
Bradyns cares about it, but I guess my sleep-deprived brain exaggerated the argument. At least I reread the thread before I decided to actually continue the rant. :v:
You know there is at least one family that is trying to pull something like this off every time the couple has sex.
and who cares if we are the minority. The whole point of my post was to say the U.S. doesn't have to do shit the way you do.
You don't think it would be better for everyone if the US just adopted the date format most used by other countries just out of shear convience? It's the same bullshit with the metric system and how the US is the only developed country in the world that doesn't use it, which is fucking dumb. "aw but we're americans and we dont need no dumbass metric system cause that just ain't the way we americans do things, we like to make things incredibly difficult and complicated for everyone else!
This is a common misconception. The United States is actually officially on the Metric system. See this link: Metric Conversion Act. "It declared the Metric system 'the preferred system of weights and measures for United States trade and commerce", but permitted the use of United States customary units in non-business activities.'" Metric is taught in schools, is used in the medicine world all the time, business use it, every drink you buy has both metric and imperial units on it, and the US military uses it for all their activities. It's really no different to how the UK does it. People in the UK use a hodgepodge of customary units just like people in the US do. It's a matter of convenience really. Adopting something where you live just because everyone else uses it is a hassle for what little gain there is to be gained.
That could be a pretty cool thing to tell when he will be asked to tell a little about himself
I was gonna correct you on saying "he" and "himself" but then I remembered that gender is of course a spectrum and chances are the baby already identifies as a man. title confused me because it's not December. >:(
title confused me because it's not December. >:(
Maybe it's a time-travelling baby.
Well to be fair there are like only 4 other people in the world born in the exact same second unless the math is wrong.
Maybe it's a time-travelling baby.
that's probably it.
Well to be fair there are like only 4 other people in the world born in the exact same second unless the math is wrong.
That makes it 440 kids born on 12/11/13 14:15. Because 14:15 is a minute, not a second.
That makes it 440 kids born on 12/11/13 14:15. Because 14:15 is a minute, not a second.
Oh yeah... Pardon my idiocy I just woke up :downs:
Why do Americans refer to 24 time as "military time".
Because the 24 hour clock is more known for being used by the military over here.
Frankly I still have trouble understanding 9/11 it's 11/9 for fucks sake. [/rant] [sp]though in total honesty, that's me talking as a brit. zero fucks given about how other people do it, it's their choice. It's like how you lay out addition or whatever in a maths book, vertically or horizontally i guess[/sp]
