Guild Wars? Realllllly? Something so Obscure shouldn't be able to have a case in court... If a Murderer can walk free because a Security Guard walked through the crime scene before Detectives showed up, and his defense says Oh it was a contaminated crime scene, then this obscure shit shouldn't fly either What system do all these games share? The fucking Internet?
This is way too vague to even be worth a case.
What exactly are they copying?
Somethin tells me there's some loophole I'm missing that they're using to drive the suing forward, even though its been quite a few years already.
Hahaha. I like how they didn't sue CCP. :smug:
CCP is Icelandic therefore they might have different laws when it comes to this kind of thing.
Oh god not this patent war shit. Enough already, patent trolls should just fucking burn. That company needs a torch through it's window.

You can pull the "but mi idia wa stollin, naw i gits no kredits." shit, but really, you'll just look like a dumbass. If you care that much about a little fucking thing like getting credit, you are just fucking stupid. Just because someone else tacks their name on doesn't mean you lose any real profit or user base. And it prevents other people from expanding on that idea when, most likely, they've got the ability to do ten times as well as you.

multiplayer gaming is dead!
multiplayer gaming is dead!
No it's not, the suing company's probably going to get their ass kicked.
I hope Jagex loses and they have to shut down Runescape. And have Blizzard lose and shut down WoW. There will be suicide.
I hope the people at that company get Swine Flu right before their court date. and miss it. and have warrants issued for all of their arrests. Fucking dicks, just because you patented your software doesn't mean other companies didn't develop it themselves. fuck off, you shouldn't be able to make such a broad patent anyways.
You think they'll sue octopi next?
What? Will there be no such thing as a multiplayer game that DOESN'T use their apparent system?
I think it means the exact same thing, ala WoW. A game like TF2 you'll never see the exact same thing because you see through your players eyes. Maybe.
All those companies deserve it. Runescape can die, maplestory can die, what the fuck is turbine, etc. Except maybe sony and activision because I want MW2
Nexon made Maplestory, I'm afraid.
COMBO WHORE!! Wow holy shit, suing all these companies all at once, looks weird when you see Jagex and Blizzard both facing a challenge that is not each other, rather they being in the same situation. Well some nerd will speak up and defend one or more of these.
this is going to backlash so hard.
I hereby patent the post reply button and next page button. If any of you fucks are reading this or replying, pay up.

I have a patent: IP addresses and how they are formed now give me monies or i will sue ur ass
I thought of something and didn't act on it now I have no money wait whats this law oh snap I can sue people awesome
I don't really know what to say about this, don't care about runsecape. It can die for all I care but the others I'm not so sure.
What a ignorant little tool. How can runescape die? It's bigger than most games listed there. It wont effect jagex in the slightest. [editline]12:09PM[/editline]
I have a patent: IP addresses and how they are formed now give me monies or i will sue ur ass
So many loopholes in that i don't know where to start
This patent appears to be "a multiplayer game". Not good news for anyone, and yet again a reason why software parents should not be allowed.
Exactly what I was thinking.
Apparently Paltalk Holdings Inc. made a patent of their type of computer data sharing that allow all users to see the same environments. They've filed claims that the Sony, Turbine, Jagex, Blizzard, and NCsoft have infringed on their patent in the games EverQuest, LOTR online, Runescape, World of Warcraft, and Guild Wars. In 2006 the same company sued Microsoft and won. (Microsoft settled with them. Amount undisclosed.) I doubt it'll be a big hit to Blizzard or Sony, but I'm not sure about the other companies.
true enough... blizzard and sony wont feel a thing if they loose a couple of millions >.> especially sony.. they can get the same amount of money they lost in months if not weeks. Have you even played the game or am I wasting my time talking to someone who has no clue what they're talking about?
So this patent is designed to stop competitors from entering the market? Didn't microsoft get sue'd for doing the very same thing? (not patenting, but "damaging competitors")
They have over a million active subscribers. Have you even played the game or am I wasting my time talking to someone who has no clue what they're talking about?
ofc i have played it..... but still MOST OF THE PEOPLE DONT PAY. you cant argue with me there. its just true. and over a million? big fucking deal. Blizzard charges 10 bucks a month for 8 million players.
