For every person who's trying to present a logical conversation there's another who's saying we should wipe away millions of people for their beliefs.
Has that ever actually happened
Has that ever actually happened
When being a sick fuck gets infectious, a mass murder tends to follow in its wake. Class example is Germany in general.
I'm pretty sure Norway should be on that list. I think around 50% of our population are atheists. I myself have nothing against religion, as long as it's not thrown at me. Now as I think about it, I barely know any religious people at all. Nor are anyone on my father or mothers side of the family religious.

In reality, no one gives a fuck. It's just a bunch of cozy holidays and such to most of us. your religion has Jackshit to do if your political views are correct, it's not even relevant in politics. in short, we're America as it should have been when it comes to freedom to think what you want. i'd like to see a non-christian get a majority vote in U.S... before hell freezes over would be cool too. Quite nice, really.
What a nice thread filled with tolerance to religion!
I have nothing against religion when it can back its claims up with empirical, objective evidence.
I don't wan't religion to completely be eradicated, but I do want it to be removed enough that it doesn't stop scientific progress and removes the chance for any of these 'religious' wars.
I don't think religion will vanish all together. what it most likely will do is evolve! change over time! i'm not saying that christians will eventually say "allright perhaps we where wrong about the 6000 year old earth thing!" and then say that the 7 days of creating the universe actually was 7 billion something years. I just don't see any "new testament" coming out for christians. What i believe will happen is a change of religions! new religions will be formed, The New Age scene is an example of this. although not a full fletched religion i think but you get what i'm saying no? Just like all the old pagan religions went extinct, so will christianity and islam. because religions aren't something that can go on forever.
imagine if humans never had morals now imagine that world
Morals are not defined by what religion you follow.

And no, religion by it's very foundation is a problem for me, believe whatever the fuck you want but the second you inflict that OPINION on anyone else I'm jumping into the fray.
Yeah but when can it ever do that?
I'm pretty sure that's his point :v:
Yeah but when can it ever do that?
It can't. That's the point.
Thank god!

Good luck mate.
well in this fight he does not stand alone. he has my sword!
I hate it when people force their views on others. What's worse is that most religions actively encourage it. European christians a fine about it, but U.S. Baptists are just prejudicial bigots and the east is just plain violent about it.
And my axe!
And my shoestring!
And my axe!
And my Richard Dawkins!

FLYING CARS TOMORROW FOLKS. Not 2100. Tomorrow!

Should I stop due to fear that people will deride my opinion? Fuck no, because then they stay set in their ways and they will drag humanity kicking and screaming back into the fucking dark ages in the name of morals, good intentions and holiness. I'm not gonna sit back and fucking allow that, humanity has came too far to just get swallowed back up by the fucking primordial ooze we clawed our way out of kicking and screaming.
Good, get rid of this shit so we can move on. Also, to the dumbasses who think religion gives morals and taking it away will make everyone evil Did the people who lived in the times before religion not have any morals at all, killed their own and drank blood for breakfast? No, they acted exactly the same as us now :v:
You mean back then when we had fur and lived in caves?
Implying back then we didn't worship the sun, the moon and the animals and forces around us. See Neolithic religions.

I was thinking more along the lines of H bombs but fuck that I ain't fighting anyone with a naked jeff goldblume, that's a far stronger psychological weapon on it's own.
I don't see how religion can hinder scientific progress.
