And if you look in this thread, you will see bible thumping christians in an argument with angsty teen atheists. Seriously though, am I the only one who doesn't worry to much about whats after death. The way I see it, whatever will happen is gonna happen, and arguments wont change it.
I believe nothing at all will happen after death, and therefor I do not worry about what will happen after death.
The most logical answer as to what happens when all your bodies functions seize to work, is that your awareness of life, death, and everything else will seize to exist.
Your conscious mind is reliant on your brain to function, without your brain you will not have a mind.
After you die, you will not be able to give a flying fuck that you died.
You will seize to exist, your awareness of your death will never occur, your mind will forever be gone, and you will never feel an ounce of sadness about having passed on.
Death is a resting, at the end of the day I will only look forwards to it.
Crusades and the Inquisition weren't Bad, God said so.
The crusades was caused by the corruption of the Pope and the Saracens were mearly defending their lands.
It had little to do with religion.
As a Secular Daoist and ordained Dudeist minister, I couldn't give a damn.
The crusades was caused by the corruption of the Pope and the Saracens were mearly defending their lands.

yes it did.
how else would the pope get thousands of men to go out there to kill people when the religion they follow specially states not to kill people?, "god said it was alright :downs:", oh and isn't the pope supposed to be uncorruptable?.
As much as I had hoped the US would be on there, I knew deep down the it wouldn't.
Excellent refutation, you sure showed me!
Yes I did.
oh and this is funny,
now correct me if I'm wrong, before you enter heaven you must be judged for your "sins." now no matter what you did you can ask Jesus to forgive you and since Jesus forgives everyone you get absolved of your sins and can enter Heaven.
so essentially what this means is there's no point in any of this and all I have to do is ask a yes man for forgiveness and I'll get to go to a place of eternal happiness regardless of what I did?.
Wow that sets one Hell of a precedent, heh Hell.
Well, I think it's like, if you really regret what you've done and sincerely ask for forgiveness then yeah, pretty much that's it. If you want to kill shitload of people and then go "lol sorry me no mean to :3" that's probably not gonna work. You could try that other religion tho...
I open up the In The News subforum, and instead of seeing discussions about important, pressing, world-changing events the first five threads I find are:
"Religion may become extinct in nine nations, study says" - 238 posts
"Curing homosexuality? There's an app for that." - 277 posts
"Texas Bill Would Outlaw Discrimination Against Creationists" - 175 posts
"'Heaven is for Real' Book About Boy's Experiance in Afterlife" - 7 posts (>100 anticipated)
Really, Facepunch? Just go start your own religion and act exactly like those which you claim to hate.

But Jesus forgives EVERYONE who asks.

It's a forum, we discuss things.
It's Religious discussion Day apparently.
Why be happy that something that shaped how we live today is becoming extinct?
I don't mean God making people of shit like that I mean hisotry, for example the Crusades, Aztecs, Indians.
Without religion the world would never be how it is now.
damn I sure miss them Nazis :colbert:

Things like this create controversy and drama, and are a great thing to eat popcorn to. Besides, we have a thread about religion that's civilized and still not closed. Shush.
But Jesus forgives EVERYONE who asks.
Nah I'm pretty sure you have to be sincerely sorry for your sins.

Seems like most atheists are just as pushy as religious extremists.
Maybe both sides can I dunno, get over it and just let others live their lives?

Every day is Religious discu[sp]hatred[/sp]ssion day.

well it's an interesting topic for discussion.
If religion is gone before the 22nd century, I will die happily knowing that people have actually grown somewhat marginally smarter over time.
Every day is Religious discu[sp]hatred[/sp]ssion day.
No, if we all hated religion, there wouldn't be 200+ posts in a news topic somewhat about religion.

What are you talking about? People come to this thread and go "stupid atheists religion is good because this this this and that" and we simply reply. We aren't even aggressive. Well except when dealing with canary, he's braindead.

I'll agree. Atheists' perceived "anger" is mainly a reaction against religious extremism.
Nope, says right in the 2000 year old book , "Jesus unconditionally forgives everyone who asks for forgiveness."
And how is he supposed to know if you're sincere or not?.
Oh wait, he's magic.
if stupid exists religion will
I have nothing against personal faith, people can believe in whatever they want, but organized religion - authoritarian religion - is something we should be reading about in history book and not in the news.

So fight fire with fire?
Great plan.
if stupid exists religion will
Thanks for that well thought out input, it really adds to our argument and shows that we have and are openly discussing the logical and rational issues we have with credibility of Religion's teachings and are in no way mindlessly bashing it.
Thank You.
I can't wait 'till it actually dies out. I hate religion.
