The young boy's grandmother, Linda Lewis, told the New York Post that the resulting fire was enough to set off alarms in her house, and her grandson was taken to Downstate Medical Center to treat burns on his body but was later released. Lewis told the Post, "he doesn't want to see or go near any phones. He's been crying to his mother." Lewis says the family has been in contact with Samsung but declined further comment.
If you have a note 7, return it now.
It's known world wide that they are being recalled, why do people ignore it and let this happen? "Oh it won't happen to me even though my product is 100% defective!"

Some people don't keep up with current events like this, even though they have a top of the line phone and one would think they'd stay in the loop. Unless Samsung or the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission can send out mass texts to all owners of the Note 7 telling them to return the device there are going to continue to be incidents like this, it's inevitable.
I'm just waiting for the one that gets checked into baggage and starts a cargo fire on an airplane or something, these things are pretty dangerous.
I've seen phone reps/salesmen flat out say don't worry about it unless your phone feels warm, so perhaps people are listening to that.

So I'm not up to speed, is it the battery causing these phones to turn into bombs?
So I'm not up to speed, is it the battery causing these phones to turn into bombs?
Yep, battery overheats and short circuits itself, causing an explosion.
Nvidia simply called on a killswitch that renders the device unusable after signing it up for replacement. I still have the housefire battery myself in my Nvidia Shield..
I'm just waiting for the one that gets checked into baggage and starts a cargo fire on an airplane or something, these things are pretty dangerous.
How many people would possibly die if a samsung killed a plane near a city
Samsung told me to contact carphone warehouse to sort it out (where I bought it) and they said contact Samsung so fuck me I guess.
whoever you bought it from has been instructed to take it back, if they want to argue you can show them their website where it says that

If it will still function people will still use it.

Still using my Note 3 here, there's been one or two occasions where it's got relatively hot but christ, never like this. Samsung are going to be in for a world of shit as lawsuits over this start to emerge.
I'm just waiting for the one that gets checked into baggage and starts a cargo fire on an airplane or something, these things are pretty dangerous.
I do believe the TSA has been told to screen them out during check-in. There was a bulletin issued last week regarding them being potentially dangerous on a flight.
whoever you bought it from has been instructed to take it back, if they want to argue you can show them their website where it says that
Yeah I had a long phone call with them today and eventually got passed to someone senior to get it sorted. The lower support people got confused because it was a SIM only unit, which they don't usually deal with. But in this case they will sort it out with everyone else on the 19th.
ohhhh boy here we go
Stock means nothing in the long run.
I do believe the TSA has been told to screen them out during check-in. We must ensure at all costs that ISIS does not get their hands on a Galaxy Note 7
We must ensure at all costs that ISIS does not get their hands on a Galaxy Note 7
The chances of a Note 7 exploding is still slim, so they'll have to overheat it manually. I'll fix your statement:
We must ensure at all costs that ISIS does not get their hands on a Galaxy Note 7 with Temple Run 2 installed
If you think it's not gonna happen to your phone, Samsung just said that the fault is in batteries manufactured by their subsidiary SDI and 70% of Note 7's are equipped with SDI batteries. So up to 70% of Notes are ticking time bombs. Return your fucking phone.

I was just going off the number of cases vs. the amount of people that have a Note 7. I would return mine because I'd rather not have it explode in my pocket, but I don't think that your phone is likely to explode. There's simply a risk because of a design flaw. With that said, I hate Samsung and will never use their products, so my statements don't make me a fanboy or anything.

The worrying part is that many of them (up to 70% apparently, though if somebody wants to link a source on that it'd be nice) have the potential to explode.
Stock means nothing in the long run.
It is, however, an indicator of how the market think their earnings are gonna go. So yeah, meaningless basically, but I agree - this will impact Samsung, not just from replacing each device, but also from lost future sales. Which is kind of a shame because beyond exploding it's supposedly a pretty good phone. With that said it shouldn't be overblown, Samsung is fucking huge.
I would like to return mine and get a non-explody one when they arrive, but according to Verizon that's just not possible. I have to return mine and buy some other phone with no option to get a safe Note 7 when they're in stock unless I fully pay off the phone I got. They're being really shitty about it when almost every other carrier is offering a loaner while you wait for the new Note 7s.
