The one about stoning gays.
Not that this should stop a church from marrying them, just as long as they kill them afterwards :v:
Was majority approval for interracial marriage seriously below 50% until 1995?
the generation way before us died and then shared their ideals with their children, and then those ones had children, and that generation figured out how bullshit it was
the internet is probably the biggest reason it suddenly spiked slightly in approval.
Man, 2014 has been a great year for gay marriage.
pretty wild how just in 2000-2004 it was "Lol you aren't getting married"
now there's a HUGE spike in legality and the momentum is still going
I liked this comic that xkcd made:

There's really no reason for gay marriage to be illegal at this point. Well over 50% of the population approve of it, and it doesn't affect anybody who doesn't like it unless they choose to be offended because of some words in a book.
I know people who oppose a federal ruling allowing same sex marriage not for religious reasons, but because "the government shouldn't be involved in marriage". I have no idea what this is supposed to mean.
So are gay people in Alaska called "Snomos"?
Then the church is not founded on traditional Christian values.
Maybe we should follow the words of the bible regarding marriage of non-virgin women, as in those marriages aren't valid and we should execute the women.
It's kind of exciting to watch history in the making.
2014: The year gay marriage threw down in the US
(After decades of civil rights activism, of course.)
Then the church is not founded on traditional Christian values.
Now I'm not Christian and admittedly don't know shit about Christianity, but how the fuck can there be 'traditional Christian values' when, as I understand it, Christianity is a very wide religion with a ton of different groups in that religion that all think different things?
Hell, how can there be traditional values when religion is a pretty damn personal thing and everyone has their own perspective and interpretations of their holy book?
If a Church approves of gay marriage, how are those not Christian values? Those are literally the values espoused by a Christian institution.
this makes no sense to me at all

but mah religious freedoms demand that i should be able to force them to not be able to marry!
seriously this and companies refusing to provide coverage under ACA for religious reasons can get behedded by religious zealots for all i care, when one person's beliefs affect thousands of their workers negatively or when one small group enacts sweeping legislation that discriminates against targeted groups on religious grounds then the feds have the authority to step in
