You have 2.78? Lucky, Over here it's already over $3 a gallon.
NO! No. Listen to me, pay attention when you read my post. $2.78 per gallon is the TYPICAL price in America. That means the price can be higher or lower, but they roughly average $2.78 per gallon. I live in Ireland, where we pay $6.62 per gollon, TYPICALLY. So if you bought 10 gallons it would cost you around $27.80, if I bought 10 gallons it would cost me around $66.20.
Do you understand now? I can't make it any simpler.

Get this into your thick skull:
YOU ARE UNDERPAYING COMPARED TO THE REST OF THE WORLD.
Stop being so damn self centered, you seem like more and more of a troll with every passing post.
Well, most Germans aren't happy about the prize either, we just don't make such a fuss about it.
That's pretty much my point. No one likes how much we pay, but the Americans, the guys who are getting off easy, are bitching about it constantly.
How many necessities does the government provide you? We In the US usually have to get what we need ourselves. We have to pay for Our doctor visits (check ups and such), we have to buy our food and/or the seeds to grow it. We have to pay our electric bills, Water bills (dependent on how you get it), sewer bills. Not to mention the taxes and the fact that some of us actually subscribe for internet access.
When you're jobless, higher gas prices mean you have to narrow your job search range.
If you have a job, that means less disposable money or "entertainment money", or even less food or medicine money.
So yea, Gas prices are a big deal in the US.
Are you assuming that people in other countries doesn't have to pay money to the doctor? That they don't need to buy food, electric bills, water bills and all the other bills?
You do know that in countries such as Sweden they take away 33% of what you earn, then on top of that you have to pay 20% VAT on everything you buy.
You do know that in countries such as Sweden
I don't think he knows too much about the rest of the world.
Hey guys? I know that you're really busy and all, but seriously, consider saving a few braincells by putting him on your ignore list.

In Ireland they take 42% of what you earn, we pay 23% VAT and they charge use for basic services such as trash collection (and soon WATER) seperately.

Ignorance is a blight, if we ignore it it'll only get worse.

True that.
That's pretty much my point. No one likes how much we pay, but the Americans, the guys who are getting off easy, are bitching about it constantly.
And the kids in Europe are bitching becaus their tuition prices are going up. By that logic they shouldn't complain either.

You know why they are complaining? Because of this:
The reason I never heard of it was because none of my Schools taught me about it.
We pay around 1200 USD every year to the community (about 30 houses in total) to fund trash collection, snow plowing and similar stuff. I don't think water is included as the bill is static.

Please, don't compare yourself to Obama in any way.

They're complaining because they don't want to have to pay more.

They're complaining because they want to be able to afford not being ignorant morons who have no clue about anything at all. Like you.
Isn't that what I said?

Oh, I don't think I explained right. Trash collection is already part of the tax, we have to buy 'bin tickets' to actually have it picked up. For a rubbish bin it's €4.50, for the recycling bin it's €1.50 and for the compst bin it's another €1.50, if the tag isn't on your bin it doesn't get emptied and you need a new ticket every time. Water is also taxed, but now they want to charge for it seperately too. There's quite a lot of double taxes here.
Frontline: Fuel of War anyone?

Makes me glad I don't live there. Sounds expensive.
Makes me glad I don't live there. Sounds expensive.
It is. That's why I get pissed off whenever an American complains about oil prices or sales tax or income tax.
Makes me glad I don't live there. Sounds expensive.
You made me bang my head on my desk out of sheer frustration. Are you glad?
Clean renewable energy please, we shouldn't have any excuses by this point.
Something like this does not exist - only on the paper. Every "renewable resource" actually isn't clean if you count also the way it got produced. And even the current "renewable resources" aren't sufficient for mankind's energy demands.
It is. That's why I get pissed off whenever an American complains about oil prices or sales tax or income tax.
I can sort of under stand.
And I've never seen you, nor anyone else from Germany, complain about oil prices.
If this is hard sarcasm, then you are true.
Seriously, everyone in Germany complains about oil-prices. They are increasing every year. I remember good old times (1995) when one litre only cost 0.7 € (equivalent of $3.5/Gallon). In only 15 years, the price has more than doubled (up to 1.5 € per litre or $7.5/Gallon).

Everyone in Germany complained about it. The reason for the prices are taxes on one side and "economical playing" of the oil-companies like this:

Oil company: "Huh, the price of one gallon increased by 1 cent. Let's increase the price in Germany by 5 cent. - They won't really notice"

Oil company: "Huh, the price of one gallon dropped by 1 cent. Let's not change the price in Germany - They won't really notice"

Oil company: "Huh, it's vacation time. Many people will drive with their cars. Let's increase the price"

Oil company: "Huh, action time is over. We think many people now got used to the higher prices due to vacation time so let's just leave them that high"
Sure, I may have been a little harsh with these statements, but that's how it actually works here in Germany and everyone complains except for the oil companies.

The level of complaining around here is still much lower than in the US.
