I'd love something like this, but doesn't stuff like this usually end up with "you killed 50% of enemies in the past 3 levels, now the next map will change accordingly"? I'm not sure if it's just laziness from the developers side when they add mechanics like these or if it's just too much effort to make it all dynamic?
it'd definitely make the experience different anyway though, but imo it feels really artificial when it's scripted to do the exact same thing over and over again when you hit a certain level/percentage of something done.
They need to make it totally hidden and in the background and have enough degrees to it to where the response seems logical. I.E. killing loads of dudes all the time to where you are notoroious and known makes it so they pretty much just have a giant robot guarding the front door, all the guards are well armored and well geared, they might always be on alert, patrol more quickly, etc. Getting into combat might have reinforcements arrive very quickly that are strong and expecting you to show up, etc.
Doing subtle killing and sneaking combonation might have that same level with much less brute firepower, quick (but not super quick) reinforcements, guards that don't fuck around but a little more relaxed, etc.
If they aren't expecting any fighting all the guards might be lazy, not care, etc. But there might be more care taken into making sure nobody can sneak by, so there might be more thorough patrolling and sealing off obvious entrances. The target might become more paranoid and be farther back/harder to get to. After all an unknown threat is often scarier than a known one, especially if your target has real fighting ability too.
The trick to making this all belivable is to introduce degrees, and to never tell the player the metrics/stats at all. Just have them play normally, and let the game make sure the player knows that everyone is on high alert because of all the crazy that has been going on lately.
I always thought that was what made the Outsider so interesting in the first place. [sp]He's the source of all magic in the world, yet he's so ordinary-looking you probably couldn't pick him out of a crowd[/sp]. To me, that's far more compelling than having some flashy, over-done dude.
I would have preferred it if he never actually showed up at all. Letting your imagination run wild works far better than just plopping something in front of you.
Awesome.
I quite liked Dishonored. It has room for improvement in gameplay, like others have mentioned before, but the atmosphere and world-building were awesome.

Total ghosting (never being seen, generally leaving only a handful of guards knocked out) would have a different effect. Your target would be heavily guarded and become more paranoid as the game continues, making them harder to take down (but easier to get to) but other things might be left the same (after all they have no idea how these people keep dying).
Uh, ghosting is getting through a mission without killing or knocking out anyone, as well as not being detected..
I am so happy that they are making a sequel. There was so much lore in the first one, what with the books and maps and tiny details, that it would be an injustice to not continue the Dishonored universe.

In dishonored getting ghost means nothing more than never killing anyone or being detected. You can still knock people out

Hrmmm. Multiplayer eh?
I'm not going to scream "The game is ruined because multi".
But I am concerned that it'll take some time, money, and assets that could be used to make an interesting Single Player.
We shall see how it goes.
here's a non-uglified downscaled image of the poster in the vg article.

probably fake, considering wolfenstein the new order comes out this year and has doom beta access, but then this poster is stating dishonored 2 is coming out in 2016, but also includes doom beta access.

Let's not also forget to keep our eyes out for a possible Fallout 4 teaser.
I hope.
But why would I want to Annihalate the Outsider?
Also, seeing this thread made me replay Dishonoured. I found a whole new set of areas that I'd never found in my prior playthroughs and I was surprised to find out that I got a good ending. [sp]Havelock killed the other conspirators and I killed him. In most of my other playthroughs they started fighting each other and the whole island was on alert.[/sp]
I loved the idea of the story and setting changing based on your actions, but the (killing = always bad) morality system was way too black and white-
im sneaking through a rundown block of apartments filled with rotting corpses in the dead of night, there's a plague victim shambling about puking up wasps and moaning in agony.
the heart gadget tells me hes watched his entire family die, its too late, and there's no chance he'l ever recover, at this point hes just a violent zombie painfully waiting to die.
surely in this situation putting the weeper out of his misery quickly is the most humane thing to do, and shouldn't constitute another "civilian murdered" pip on your record.
Dishonored is one of my favorite games. I bought it on a whim and I'm glad I did. Haven't played the final DLC yet though.

He was using a little something we like to call "The Right Way"

I guess you could call it "True Ghost" in this context. Almost every rule applies, except for maybe 7.

That's the ending I got on my first play through. :v:
