I still like 7 because it works. I stuck with XP for a long time till only a few years ago. When i do build a new computer, i'll try it but this is not the time.
I noticed this week ago. Scared the shit out of me because I thought it would upgrade to W10 after restarting PC. I would love to go W10 but it's not finished OS at the moment. Sure some are doing fine but I'd like to be 100% sure that the programs I use everyday works. So, I'm still waiting.
I just want to know if the Origin Command and Conquer games still work in Windows 10, all of them. From C&C to Red Alerts to Tiberian Suns to Generals.
Wow, I even reserved a copy of Windows 10 because I plan to switch over in the next few months, but ever since last month, every 6 hours or so the "Upgrade to Windows 10 now" notification keeps appearing whenever I'm idle on the desktop, thankfully not pulling this shit while I'm playing games at the least. Hell, I can't even shut down propperly anymore because it keeps trying to force me to install Windows 10, I can't even opt out of it in the windows update on the control panel, like, why is microsoft so desperate? I'll upgrade when I'm ready.
I think I'll stick with 7, thanks.
Where is the folder exactly?
Where is the folder exactly?
C:\$Windows.~BT (Hidden folder ofc and on 5.7GB) Edit I might start disabling auto-update from microsoft. After their 'tracking' updates (kb3068708, kb3022345, kb3075249, kb3080149) and now this.
Wow. I paid for Win8, not 10. I don't want 10, it's too soon to be as stable as an OS. Stop pushing your shite on meeeee
If you're holding out on 10 you're doing yourself a disservice, 10 is fast and compatible with 99% of things 7 and 8 are. I'm totally ok with Microsoft trying to rid the consumer world of old operating systems.
Thanks but no thanks! My liquid cooling drivers aren't windows 10 compatible, so I'd rather not trash my computer!
C:\$Windows.~BT (Hidden folder ofc and on 5.7GB)
I have the ~BT folder, but it is only several KB in size. Another hidden folder exists however with the same, but with ~WS instead of ~BT. The ~WS folder is the 5.7GB size you mentioned. I wonder if this means anything since I've only seen mentions of this ~BT folder...
What are they gonna do, steal my identity? It's not like I'm important anyway. Destroy my credit? I don't have any. Take my money? I have none of that either.
do u find solace in the fact ur life is so shit it isnt worth stealing
You fucking cocksuckers. I have a 4 gigabyte internet plan and I was wondering why I'm at 10 gigs now. With $15 a gig every gig over the limit, Microsoft just fucked me of $90. Way to go cockslobers. I don't even have auto updates on. You god damn fucks.
"ITS JUST 90 DOLLARS LOL GET A BETTER CONNECTION GOD WHAT ARE YOU A FUCKEN RETARD?? WHO PAYS THAT MUCH FOR INTERNET LOL" People wonder why this whole Win10 thing has made me so goddamn angry, but at least that didn't happen to me. Let me guess, you have Verizon? My connection just gets throttled if I exceed 10GB, but I feel your pain bro. This shit is ridiculous.
Hey guys, I'm planning an install of 7 on my MacBook Air, so I need that GWX.EXE KB#
I reserved a copy when it released and I still haven't gotten any kind of go-ahead from microsoft yet.
download the media creation tool from microsofts website. your ok message got stuck like on my mom's PC. my mate is having terrible crashing issues with windows 10 but he can't downgrade (no idea why). If microsoft is forcing people to move to win10 and they still have stupid bugs like this, they're gonna have a lot of angry people.

Just upgraded recently, have to say I'm kinda disappointed with windows 10. It's slower than 8.1 and you can't disable windows updates easily. New photo viewer is nice though, can actually display gifs, only took them like ten years to add that back in from xp.
Why the hell is everyone pointing fingers at Windows 10 stating its a botnet / spyware OS? I have seen nothing, absolutely nothing confirming this so far.
Media has done a very good job with their fearmongering.
Why is everyone so calm about this? This is clearly something Microsoft shouldn't do.
What the fuck? This better not be happening on my end.
Or what? :smug:
Why is everyone so calm about this? This is clearly something Microsoft shouldn't do.
They shouldn't automatically download the free updated OS if you have automatic updates turned on? I mean sure there are things wrong with it, but it's not that absurd.
Why is everyone so calm about this? This is clearly something Microsoft shouldn't do.
Anybody that has worked with Windows Update knows this is par for the course. Like I said, it has one job, and it does not give a fuck about anything else.
I'm going to be totally honest, I don't see what the problem is. It automatically downloading if you have auto download updates enabled checks out. Windows Update is literally doing its job. Its motto is "I've got one job so fuck everything else". Which was literally the case in 7 until recently. :v:
Downloading an update for an existing product is not the same thing as downloading a different product. Imagine you owning GTA 4 on Steam, and suddenly it automatically downloads GTA 5 "just in case" you want to buy it in the future, it's fucking stupid I mean, you live in the U.S, lots of people there have limited data plans/month, for me it's just wasted SSD space, for people in places like that it also means limited access to the Internet
your computer could become part of a huge botnet that is used to take down websites on a daily basis and you could very well be completely unaware of it because you chose to be willfully ignorant. malware does not solely affect you when you are infected.
Windows 10 has been confirmed left and right to be a botnet on its own, as well as Microsoft rolling out updates for Windows 7 and 8 to give them similar telemetry background services as 10, so why would I willfully install updates to force my installation of Windows 7 into that type of state? Even ignorning the botnet stuff since it's "not totally confirmed", Windows 10 is still largely unstable for most of what I would need to do. It doesn't work well with VR for starters, at least not yet. The last thing I want to do is update to a "free" OS and not have the ability to use a $375 piece of equipment. No thank you.
I wonder if theres a future for desktop linux for consumers. Im under no illusions that linux is easy for the average consumer, and I dont think Ubuntu would be it, but Linux already dominates the mobile market and since most peoples' computers are facebook machines nowadays, and the growing popularity of webapps vs. native code, I wouldn't be surprised if something like ChromeOS came to be a big competitor of windows.
