Microsoft's "Cortana" Voice Assistant to hit Lumias in April, voice over done by Halo's Jen Taylor
This whole article seems extremely fishy to me for the following reasons:
-PhoneArena is a shit sensationalist site, and the "via" site that originally reported the news is WMPoweruser.com, which is known for posting all sorts of outrageous and baseless rumors about Windows Phone. Also the "leaker" isn't credible at all.
-Why would it only hit Lumia phones if it's Microsoft who's behind this? You might say "well, MS owns Nokia now" but it still doesn't make sense since Microsoft is in talks with other handset makers to build Windows Phones, so why would they put them down by keeping such a crucial feature to their own phones only?
if you think of it that way, sure. but would it really surprise you if microsoft wanted their phones to have a significant advantage over other windows phones? did it really surprise anyone when apple only made siri a feature for the iphone 4s when the iphone 4 was perfectly capable? they want to move more units and they want those units to be theirs. premium units, if possible.

in any case, i'm sure it will be available for most windows phones eventually.
Cortana, what does my pocket smell like?

It's different. Apple has already capitalized a large percentage of the market. Microsoft knows that in order to succeed in the mobile space they need more handsets, and Nokia's efforts alone aren't enough. This is why they're considering dropping licensing fees for WP and enter special deals with several companies (like Samsung and Sony) so that they can get more handsets and more choices for the consumer and thus increase their market share. Remember that the money is not at the handsets themselves, but all the services that the costumer can consume through them i.e. the app store sales, music sales, etc..
Great, now every time I hear this I'll think of my friend's sister spamming ~"Oh my god we're almost there" in no mercy
L4D always makes me think of the massive spam we did at churchguy with the vocalization-commands. We got several years worth of "DING DONG DING DONG DIDIDIDIDINGO DONG DDDDING DONG"
I wish I could get EDI from mass effect on my phone :(

Hmm, that's the third time today, keep me updated

I wouldn't mind GLADOS or Weatley. Hell, give us Three Dawg from Fallout 3 & I'll be a loyal customer.
Why. I can't even take it seriously.

They could point you forward.
Maybe a bit to the left, right, up, or down as well.
This is actually really fucking cool. I kind of hopped off the halo train after 3, but I really wish I had a windows phone now.
I bet all she'll do is yell "slip space rupture!" every 15 minutes.
Nah. Should say "This phone's shields are not rated for slipspace!" every 15 seconds.
It'd be an accurate Halo 4 simulator. Complete with an utter lack of acknowledgement that the bullets are clearly rated for slipspace judging by the retarded amount of Hitscan going on.
The video in the article is really cool. I got really excited when at around the 8:00 mark, the program started to say what he was saying in Chinese. Very nice.
Also, I really want the Cortana VO on my phone.
I've got an App on my phone that lets you talk into the phone, and it translates what you say instantly into whatever language you set it. It's almost fucking perfect, too. It'll also read it out loud, and it doesn't even sound like a terrible robot voice to boot

I had no idea about the potential licensing deals. Then my best guess is that their executives are stupid, and they should hire you. :v:
FEAR 2
As I was playing that it was bugging me all the way up until that one guy [sp]gets killed in front of you and the girl she plays by Alma[/sp] when I figured it out.

If you wanted to you could possibly extract all the different phenoms from all their lines in the games and make it yourself, but that's HARD
I have a Nokia windows phone! Too bad I don't want this. I'd much rather they just fucking stop dicking around and release the 1020 for Verizon.

I'm thinking of moving to WP on TMobile at the end of the year when my contract with Verizon is up, I'm hoping they'll have some Flagships, like the 1020, or it's replacement by then.
You can buy unlocked phones from Canada that will work with tmobile's bands
I.E. the unlocked rogers 1020 will run on pretty much any carrier (pentaband).
Its seriously one of the worst things about windows phone is that nokia does exclusivity contracts for each and every device, meaning they force each device for a specific carrier. And guess which carrier gets the most love and exclusives? AT&T, which is by far the worst, most price-gouging one in the US.
Outside of the US this isn't an issue, pretty much every device will run on anything.
