Looks like the west finally has a reason to be in Afghanistan.
I heavily doubt this will benefit Afghanistan much, it will be handed over to a western corporation and the western world will get most of the benefits.
Because we were just going remove Al Qaeda for the lulz since Bush was a warmonger and TOTALLY not in response to The East Africa U.S. embassy bombings and the USS Cole Bombing! :downs:
I never said they attacked Taliban for no reason, illiterate child.
Perfect opportunity for hearts and minds, take ownership of the reserves start mining it and give half the profits at least to the afghan people and set up a non corrupt government for them. [editline]11:42AM[/editline]
This makes me happy :) Finally some good news for America!
Why is this good for america? If they don't give it to the afghans there will be out rage and attacks on US troops will get a hundred times more frequent and worse.
Yes, the United States government has an elite, covert team of mineral prospectors deployed to all regions of the world. Whenever one is found, all that has to happen is a catastrophic terrorist attack on the United States, the first of it's kind on any comparable scale. It's the perfect plan, and we just unraveled it.
well they went for oil in the first place so why not this?
We know it's that much, they don't. "Hey, uh we found some -nudge- junk -nudge- and since it is no use to you, we'll just take it and -nudge- dump it in an imaginary hole -nudge- like we have with our money. -nudge-"
Somehow I have the feeling that this would drive afghani nationalists to fight harder.
Lithium is a pretty nice and useful element. These are good news.
It'll be awesome news for the company that claims the resources.
Well, I guess it's Afghanistan's national property for now, and it will have to be (under more or less fair conditions) sold to some company which will mine it, no?
On the downside, "blood for lithium" just doesn't have the same ring.
this conflict just keeps going and going and going
"No war for lithium" just doesn't roll off the tongue... [editline]01:08AM[/editline] Oh fark GunFox.
