what's wrong with the bass drum sound?
It's being counterpointed by a compressed all to hell snare, because who the fuck knows why.
I've legit never understood the metallica craze like they're an ok band yet every highschooler or 40 year old man acts like its a part of a genre that is only good thing out there
This is pretty much their last big tour I imagine. Blink182 and Good Charlotte should also stop
Good Charlotte had a second album? :v:
I've legit never understood the metallica craze like they're an ok band yet every highschooler or 40 year old man acts like its a part of a genre that is only good thing out there
Because they were fucking huge in the 80s and still are now, ehen most people think of metal, they think of metallica, they eere kinda huge for the genre. But metallica back then is pretty different to what it is now. People cant let go
How I imagine Kirk's solo was written: James: Alright Kirk, we're gonna need a badass solo here Kirk: k whatev, start recording *turns on wah* *plays e minor pentatonic* *whiffs the ending* James: that's incredible let's leave it as is
Always been a big fan, so I'm excited to see how the album turns out. I just hope this isn't a good example. Sounds a little too "playing it safe" imo, song's over before you even know it.

Metallica was the biggest fucking thing ever back in the day. Look up The Big Four.
The drums are way too loud and overpowering. Why do they give lars an opinion on mixing?
I dunno, when I think of Metalica, I think real big sound. This sounded small. The vocals were really dry, the lead guitar had nothing special. Kinda disappointing.
Kinda reminds me of a half-assed creeping death
Meh. I've listened to some Metallica, mostly And Justice For All and that was pretty good but this... It sounds weak and repetitive, I couldn't make it more then halfway through it. Then again, I just find that my taste lies with nordic metal bands so idk.
Not a Metallica fan... I liked it, but i've heard them do better so I have to agree with some of these comments. Not everyone can be Radiohead I guess ;)
I get the feeling they're trying to play it safer because when they go with something out of the box, say like St.Anger or S&M, they're being told to fuck off and stick to their roots. Hence the shorter song played in a more "traditional" arrangement. But even that is not good enough is it ? They can never win lol. That being said, it took me a couple of listens to actually enjoy it somewhat. It is far from being their best though. Nyeh, gotta wait for the rest of the album before I can truely judge.
The song is okay, but unfortunately it's just okay. The writing I think could be best described as "every death magnetic song rolled into one song" and the production quality is not exactly great. It confuses me how a band as great and as successful as Metallica could have such a weak guitar tone on their records. If I James Hetfield money, my rig would sound like classic James Hetfield all the time. Do they not like having decent sounding guitar tones or something?
I'm not a fan of Metallica, but what the fuck is with that mixing? It is absolutely terrible.

Metallica can't seem to top their black album, but one can always hope.
All these bands are releasing new albums and here I am still waiting for a new Aquabats album
Aquabats' only good song is Pizza Day though, but to each their own.
Sounded better live but I still dont like it
This song is pretty much supposed to be a crowd pleaser, the only thing that sucks about it is the mixing. Writing is simple, to get people moving.
Metallica can't seem to top their black album, but one can always hope.
personally i think the black album is probably metallica's worst album so it's not exactly hard to top it
Metallica can't seem to top their black album, but one can always hope.
Their earlier records are way better than the black album.
i must be the only one in the world to consider the black album and load as their best sounding albums with load & reload having some of the coolest songs (bleeding me and fixxxer)
Metallica did their best work in the 90s. Fite me
Metallica did their best work in the 90s. Fite me
They became a bunch of sellouts from the black album onwards. I only listened up to the master of puppets album.
Uh, the intro sounded like a rejected demo of 'all nightmare long' with all the drive from the muted triplet strokes missing and I'm not really a fan of the main riff, especially since its almost the only riff played up until the solo. Also, the Pre-Solo interlude has GOT to be a joke, It all just sounds like bits and pieces someone farted out during session breaks and the solo was just thrown in there half-heartedly when the one other riff became too repetitive five times over. Percussion is fine, but then again, if that double base near the end ever actually comes out of Lars instead of a studio I'll eat his pedals. I guess the most depressing part is James singing, he's really lost all of his former voice at this point. I mean, the guy is getting older and you can't really blame him for that but if they can't even fix it in the studio, maybe he should explore different styles of singing, come up with something clever and surprising (that doesn't involve Lou Reed) instead of trying to re-live the glory days. Oh and the lyrics. It's not that they can't write good songs every once in a while but I swear this is just taken straight off the frst piece of scrap paper they found on the studio floor All in all, I would call this song the definition of lackluster. And I don't mind that it sounds like every song on Death Magnetic, I didn't mind that album at all. There's not really any reason to judge the entire album based on that one song, but I'm already skeptical. Well shit.

The older stuff before the black album was pretty great, definitely more metal, but the black album is the one I can listen to from start to finish, its awesome.
