It's very natural. Earth goes through climate changes all the time. Humanity's entire history has existed in a warm period between ice ages. It's just that anthropogenic causes are accelerating and effecting things to where nature can't keep up and adapt thus why we see annual coral beaching events getting more and more severe. However I heard reports of coral reefs in the Red Sea adapting and thriving in temperatures that would cause other reefs to die. Funny enough, that because of the strict laws making Saudi Arabia an undesirable tourist hot spot, the coral reefs in the Red Sea are probably the healthiest on the planet. I went to Hawaii this summer and snorkeled in a "Nature Reserve" and the reef consisted of algae covered rocks and a coral here and there. Tourism kills reefs. Humans and Reefs are a horrible combination.
If humanity is accelerating the global warming trend, it isn't natural though, right?
It's a natural cycle. Not manmade.
That's what I'm saying. Humanity is shooting itself in the foot. Were like a chain smoker with cancer. We are solving absolutely nothing by pumping shit into the atmosphere. If we were to stop it would buy us a few thousand years of good, healthy oceans to prolong humanity. Right now I honestly don't know if the oceans have a few hundred years left in it. Then go back to my previous posts about the global economy/society collapsing.

That Carlin rant is pretty much the best thing out there when it comes to this whole situation. The planet will recover eventually and will be fine. WE are the ones that are fucked come the "apocalypse", whatever you may label that.
Mars is going through the same change cycles.
so?
[editline]10th August 2011[/editline]
earth and mars aren't the same planet fyi
[editline]10th August 2011[/editline]
for example, only one of the two planets is covered with global warming deniers
Uhm, you guys do realize this is correct right? Your hate for fox news is corrupting your mind thinking thats WHATEVER they say is wrong. Global warming is real, guess what? It happens all the time throughout time and it will go back to normal like it always does. WELCOME TO NATURE.

In history, the temperatures rose and dropped a lot. If you look at the statistics of it, you can see that it went into a big rise after the ice age, then dropped and now it's rising again. It's all normal and part of nature.
That's not the problem, everyone knows it's natural, the problem is that humans are speeding the process up and nature can't keep up with it.
He was stating that denying evolution was "fucking retarded" I was merely stating that evolution is still considered as an accepted theory.
But after doing some research ive found out that its considered proven so I redact my previous statement.
Denying an accepted theory IS stupid. Theory doesn't mean the same thing in science that is does otherwise, if a scientific idea is called a theory then that means it's as close to proven as is practically possible.
so?
[editline]10th August 2011[/editline]
earth and mars aren't the same planet fyi
[editline]10th August 2011[/editline]
for example, only one of the two planets is covered with global warming deniers
They're identical in a sense. But since you don't know anything about global warming/cooling ages, I'll leave the basic research to you.
Global warming happens naturally due to the Earth's orbit not being a perfect circle and shit like that.
Lets see here. How long does it take for Earth to make one orbit around the sun? 365.2 days. (That's a year in case you didn't know)
And how long has the whole global warming thing been discussed, researched, etc? Well, I don't know an exact date this problem was detected or whatever, but I do know it was more then a year ago.
The "Earth's orbit not being in a perfect circle" thing along with the fact that our planet is tilted explains our seasons, not the global warming.

The ellipse itself is moving too so yea, our median distance is changing too but that's still out of the question as a cause since IT'S HAPPENING AS FAST AS NEVER BEFOREAND THE BEGINNING IS JUST WHEN WE STARTED RELEASING HUGE AMOUNTS OF CO2 into the atmosphere.
But maybe I am wrong and we are making the world a better place just for the sake of it.
God forbid that.
Facepunch is hilarious, still believing in man-made global warming.
Facepunch is hilarious, still believing in man-made global warming.
i am literally going to beat the shit out of you
Fox, you so silly.
Thank you fox news, for reminding me that people actually think that global warming isn't a thing.
I've gone at least 3 months without even thinking about global warming, much less the 'debate' behind it
i am literally going to beat the shit out of you
Mind if I join?
Facepunch is hilarious, still believing in man-made global warming.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume you're trolling.
Nope
That doesn't disprove what I said at all. It just said that something forced the change to happen. Which happened to be something natural, since over 99% of the changes happened when the human race was not around.

This is the first person in the thread that actually says something completely true.
Although the wildlife adapts to it.

You haven't read what I've said at all then. I will show you pictures if I have too. Everything I said is fact.
Facepunch is hilarious, still believing in man-made global warming.
Fun fact, Leaf Runner has no idea what he's talking about.
It's little spikes. Since the beginning of the industrial revolution, ours is a HUGE fucking spike.

while that graph is true, it's misleading because it doesn't show enough beforehand to compare it to. 200 years isn't enough, try 20,000

try again plox
[editline]11th August 2011[/editline]
Even if it does have an official sounding name like "World Climate Report"
Okay.

What can FP deduce from this.
i am literally going to beat the shit out of you
I don't think you know what the word "literally' means.
And no, I'm not trolling. Global Warming is real, but mankind has little to no effect on it. The earth goes through natural cycles and ice ages.
In history, the temperatures rose and dropped a lot. If you look at the statistics of it, you can see that it went into a big rise after the ice age, then dropped and now it's rising again. It's all normal and part of nature.
Why are people agreeing with this but at the same time disagreeing with this
It happens all the time throughout time and it will go back to normal like it always does. WELCOME TO NATURE.
I mean there both bullshit but facepunch be consistent with your bullshit.

You are wrong sir. We do effect it.
You are wrong sir. We do effect it.
It's like a drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of things. If you think otherwise, please cite scientific evidence.
Facepunch is hilarious, still believing in the scientific consensus backed by proof.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_opinion_on_climate_change
"In the judgment of most climate scientists, Earth’s warming in recent decades has been caused primarily by human activities that have increased the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere"
"Climate conditions in the past provide evidence that rising atmospheric carbon dioxide levels are associated with rising global temperatures. Human activities, primarily the burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil, and natural gas), and secondarily the clearing of land, have increased the concentration of carbon dioxide, methane, and other heat-trapping ("greenhouse") gases in the atmosphere...There is international scientific consensus that most of the warming observed over the last 50 years is attributable to human activities."
