Man that's a sensationalist title, should get a prize for it.
Don't other browsers already do this? I know IE used to come with bookmarks pre-loaded for stuff and Safari comes with links to Yahoo and such on the iOS and desktop releases.
I have an add-on that already changes the default behavior of the homepage and new tabs.
Wish there was still a Bad Reading rating. The thread title is very misleading.

fuckbook, the facebook of sex
jokes on you, my title screen is already full of furry and other porn pages
really hope nobody gets their hands on my computer without my supervision tho
Without your supervision? That's the better outcome.
If they find all your furry porn and they're by themselves, they'll just think "okaay" and try their best to ignore it.
If they find it and you're next to them, they'll look up at you like "why would you even?" and you'll have to look into their eyes as they judge you.
If you would read the fucking thing, the only "ads" are in the new tab thing if you don't have 9 things to stick in them. The only people who are going to see this are new users. It's fucking nothing!
This is one of the few times you really can use the phrase "Slippery Slope" and not have it just be an annoying buzzword

You're right, this time it's a logical fallacy.
I use Firefox and still see no ads.

I just mark anything I know my friends won't want to see as "you don't want to see this" then a subfolder after that labeled "oh well, your eyes" because I don't really care if they see it, it's their fault for snooping. :v:
I use Firefox and still see no ads.
May want to try reading a little more thoroughly. If you haven't just installed Firefox then nothing at all will be any different for you.

Guys.
Guys
These are barely what I'd call ads. Their literally the same as the popular websites thing you see when you open a new tab in firefox, but with various websites you don't have to click or care about.
It's really not that big of a deal, its not like an ad pops up every time you load a new webpage.
I use Firefox and still see no ads.
It comes out next update (FF27)
I don't see a problem with online ads as long as they aren't intrusive.
I mean bandwidth and development cost doesn't cover itself folks.
It comes out next update (FF27)
That's the current version...
Good thing I use Pale Moon :v:
That's the current version...
It's funny because the alternate WaterFox doesn't seem to have it

You haven't seen it because you aren't a new user. This is how much of a non-issue this is.
I haven't seen a difference, mainly thanks to AdBlockPlus

I know, I was just pointing out that Scratch wasn't exactly right since they were acting like FF27.0 wasn't out yet.

The same extension that gets paid to unblock certain ads.
The same extension that gets paid to unblock certain ads.
not sure what you're trying to do here. They do get bribed yes, but the "let some unobtrusive ads show" option is just that, an option. I haven't seen an ad in a year.
Before people jump on the hate train, theres a few points to this the article doesn't cover:
- Ads will in no way be able to access any user data
- They will go away after the user has started using the browser
This is no different to pre-populating bookmarks or search engines. However, the blog post does give off the wrong idea. This is a concept of how it should look:

Oh look, it's that thing Safari already does and people have no problems with.

Alternatively you could just use normal Adblock instead of ABP.

I thought Adblock was Chrome only.

Ironically, normal adblock is the ripoff, ABP is the original. I've found ABP to be much more reliable, both in terms of moral standards and actual efficacy at blocking ads.

Just use AdBlock Edge. It's a fork of ABP.
Also Adblock is a ripoff of ABP.

If you are that paranoid about it, use this instead.

What's that? Oh adblock does everything so no probs.
