KKK Imperial Wizard Found Dead in a Missouri River

Got what he deserved. It's too bad it didn't happen sooner, but at least he's dead now.
So they got charged for this right?
Don't tell me you get straight up given evidence of animal abuse handed to you and nothing happens about it
Not as far as I know. With the bleached cat, they claimed they were trying to treat it for fleas, and ended up voluntarily surrendering it. In my experience, a voluntary surrender is about the best you can hope for, because forcing a surrender of an animal is very difficult under Missouri law, and actually prosecuting requires damnable evidence of clear and intentional physical abuse or neglect, like starvation.

Wow, I am surprised that the evidence of bleaching isn't enough, I take it that people are rarely charged for abuse unless there is hard evidence?
I can't really say either way. All I saw was the end-result on the animal, which was pretty horrific, but as far as the legal repurcussions (or lack thereof) I can only speculate. All I can vouch for is that our animal welfare laws are somewhat lacking here in Missouri. There have been several occasions where an animal's life has been at risk, but we've been unable to act. It's incredibly frustrating.

:v: Timing is key everyone
No it began as a pyramid scam.

Keep in mind this was the 2nd Klan. The original Klan had similar names, though the ones the current (3rd) Klan uses are based directly off of the 2nd's.

I'm happy that my state has some pretty strict animal welfare laws. We have a very large exotic animal trade here so the laws dealing with pets and the like are very extensive.

That seems to be true for many places which is sad.

According to the article, they were trolls dressed up in sheets as a joke.
As for BDA? Abusing and causing trauma on any being is objective ly wrong and stupid. Life difficult enough and when something suffers emotional scars, it makes the world worse over time.

If you read the article it says this:
That levity did not last long. The Klan soon discovered that their childish pranks frightened newly freed blacks. Others noticed this and donned their own sheets. Some of these new “members” were more bent on terrorism and intimidation than amusement. “The time was ‘rotten-ripe’ for the development of the Klan as a means to control the newly freed Negro and his Northern friends,” Chalmers writes. In 1867, Klan representatives from several cities convened in Nashville to establish what Chalmers calls an interstate, “self-appointed police organization.”
The "Klan" was originally started by a few friends in the south as basically a friends club where they got drunk and had fun. However, their antics soon became popular among racists for one reason or another.

For clarification: the 1st Klan was the original white supremacy movement that was moreso a systematic response to the awfulness of reconstruction and the destruction caused by the civil war, propagated by the war-torn people of the south. They blamed their suffering on northerners and blacks and essentially created a loose terrorist organization that spanned all across the south before the federal government destroyed them. The 2nd Klan was the one mentioned in the article, a scam that was brought about by a movie and quickly died. The 3rd Klan is the current one, run by bigoted idiots who idealize the old version, much in the same way that modern neo-nazis do.
