Stuck on a GTX 460 so not for me.
Oh well.

I have had nothing but regrets about getting this card, since more or less the moment my notebook arrived. I never realized just how neutered the 680M was as opposed to the 680. What I get for just going "Oh it's a high-end Nvidia card, it'll be just fine!"
How Neutered Is It? According to GPUBoss, about 20FPS on Bioshock Infinite.
I am never getting a gaming notebook again. Fuck the inconvenience of having a desktop - I shouldn't have to kick Bioshock Infinite's graphics down to low to just get my framerate at a number reliably higher than 20 when using anything with "GTX" and "680" in its name.
I also have an M card (755m if I'm correct), and I can run battlefield 3 on ultra. Apart from that, It's more of a college machine anyway, gaming on it is just a bonus like it's a laptop bro
Just tested this on my 780 rig, works perfectly with no fps loss. 1080p @ 60 fps.
This won't work on my GTS 240, then. Too bad, but I wouldn't expect something like this from a graphics card that sounds like a plane when I try to play anything newer than TF2.
I saw this earlier on the driver update. I'm gonna have to try it out.
I think it would be worthwhile making some gameplay videos and upload to youtube.
I'm thinking of trying this out since I'm getting sick of Fraps' giant filesizes but I never had this Geforce Experience thing installed. Can I install and set it up so I only use their recording features? I really don't want to install something only to have it fuck with my games settings or update to a driver, I want to keep doing all that manually.

experience doesn't do anything if you don't want it to
Everyone else should use "Open Broadcaster Software"

Try it. it's SUPERB!
gaming notebook
A gaming notebook
Those exist? :v:
This is really cool, but there are a lot of good recorders that give little to no FPS drops. DxTory for example gives me no FPS loss on most games. I gave 'Action!' a try as well, which is much more polished and streamlined than DxTory and is currently on Steam greenlight. That was even better, even on extremely demanding games I got no FPS drops while using it and the output quality was great.
Its a pity they didnt put this tech in say 6-8 years ago when fraps was the only option because everyone would want this, now there are loads of really good alternatives so it isnt really a game changer for me in deciding what card to get.
My last Nvidia card was an 8800GT in 2007 which ran at temps you could fry an egg on, never used ATI before that but I was on a tight budget and after hours of comparisons and reviews I got a 1GB 4870 and never looked back, such an amazing card for the price compared to Nvidia cards of the same spec which were 50-100% more expensive. Technology like this would have swayed me, but I'm sure they will come out with their own version in time and until then we have plenty of other applications that do a very similar job for just a little bit more of an impact.

This so much.
Been using this for a while and it's absolutely fantastic. Will continue using it for most things, and probably just use ShadowPlay for the "back-in-time" feature.
Seriously, for anyone who haven't tried it: OBS is amazing.
"available exclusively to GeForce customers"
God fucking damn it.
GTX no less :( I don't even have one of those yet.
Goddamn those files are much smaller then Fraps files, and the footage is really nice quality as well. definetly going to switch to this.

The thing is that dxtory still captures lossless video unless you choose different codec (then slows your computer down a lot because of the encoding takes place in cpu) and pretty much rapes your hard drives with huge files (dxtory is more hdd focused than fraps). Not to mention ShadowPlay is free.
Other than that nvidia has been doing great things recently, announcing new, never seen before technologies and their prices are pretty great nowadays (coming from hardcore ati fan and proud 4850 cf owner). Upgraded to gtx660 that cost me $60 less than its equivalent 7870, also the drivers have much better feel. Can't wait to try this as my cpu is pretty old.
It certainly doesn't come close to the quality or flexibility of a software encoder.

By "software encoder", I mean x264.
I'll take hardware encoder with no performance hit over better quality that still gets raped from youtube any day.
I just quickly tried it in Bioshock Infinite where I expected at least *some* frame loss, but no loss whatsoever. Video was high quality and was really smooth, too.
I'm sure veterans would like something with more options, but I personally like how simple and discrete it is. There's a few options in the Geforce Experience hub (including a huge on/off switch), it's quick to familiarize yourself with the hotkeys and dumping directory, and ingame you get a little square in a corner of your choosing that gives you feedback whether Shadowplay has followed your orders (you can disable it, too).
That's pretty amazing. I might just end up using it frequently. I mean, I don't notice it in the background and don't have to worry about activating it ahead of time, why the hell not? Maybe it'll actually make for an entertaining vid.
So thumbs up from me to Nvidia, their Experience manager seems to be progressing nicely!

it's more than enough for youtube which is where 99% of gameplay goes anyway
now i can start making hardcore frag videos and not be overcrowded with 50 gigs
thanks nvidia
fucking kill me I have a gtx 640 and they require a 650
I have a 645!
Just tried it on maxed out Last Light, no stuttering in-game but just the slightest, tiniest inconsistency when viewing the recording back.

ffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
nvm I got it to open
Recorded a 2 minute full HD video and I noticed little to no FPS drops, performance was the same and the file was only 800mb, this is really great i love it
Meh. I only have a GTX 470. Looks like it's DXtory, Mirillis Action, Bandicam, Fraps or something else for me. The 'shadow' recording seems really nice to be honest. Ah well.
Seeya, MSI Afterburner (for video recording)!
What are the minimum and recommended requirements for this (outside of a Kepler GPU)?

How
[editline]29th October 2013[/editline]
Make a shortcut to geForce Experience with -shadowplay as a launch extension.
I'm not sure if this'll harm your PC or not.
Played at 1680x1050, recorded at 1920x1080. :tinfoil:

You own a 780 but not a 1080p monitor? For shame.

he spent so much money on a new PC that he couldn't afford anything else
My philosophy is not to replace something unless it's outlasted it's use. I have a Dell 2005FPW and it's a brilliant screen, if I want to I can always hook up to the 1080p TV I have for the PS3, but I prefer this.
Plus it means I can crank shit up without a care in the world now.
