this wouldn't have even made the news if it wasn't for the recent school shooting media hysteria going on
Kids bringing guns to school usually make it in the news regardless.
Think about that for a second
I'm from the UK, can't really say I've ever seen .22, nor do I know the actual size of one.

lmfao what the hell good job parents good fucking job
I'm from the UK, can't really say I've ever seen .22, nor do I know the actual size of one.
Well to give you an imperial measurement lesson, .22 = 0.22 of an inch. .22 = 5.7mm that being the diameter of the bullet.
Sixth-grader? What age is that? Because I could sort of see this as a noble thought of the kid they gave it too had been of an age where thinking logically was possible, but given the scenario...
lmfao what the hell good job parents good fucking job
Agreed. What's worse is that the parents didn't understand that the kid might not know 100% what he has. It may not be a WMD, but it sure as hell isn't a toy, no matter what your stance on gun ownership is. [editline]18th December 2012[/editline] [t]http://cheaperthandirt.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/9mm_22lr_800.jpg[/t] Re-iterating, just for edjumakashional purposes: Left is 9x19mm Hollowpoint, common handgun round. The right is .22LR, the same round used in the kids gun.
I'm from the UK, can't really say I've ever seen .22, nor do I know the actual size of one.
.22 means the round has a diameter of .22 inches.
How large are .22 round/their effectiveness?
metric designation would be 5.6x15mmR, so 5.6mm bullet with a 15mm case
I live in this state, weber county specifically, and there was a rumor going around school today that there was a bomb threat. There were like 3 cops walking around the school all day and the administration were watching the hallways. I wasn't concerned and voiced my non-concern about it and several retarded know-it-all bitches shot back some irrelevant argument. TLDR people are retarded.
12 or 13.
More like 11. 12 and 13 is Junior High.
Not a good defense round, but enough to kill someone if you're lucky enough.

young childrens skulls are so very soft
The finnish school shooter Pekka-eric Auvinen used a .22lr pistol and killed 9 and wounded 12. None of them were children.
The finnish school shooter Pekka-eric Auvinen used a .22lr pistol and killed 9 and wounded 12. None of them were children.
People really underestimate .22's, and if I remember right they tumble like a motherfucker inside the body too.
I'm not denying their lethality, I'm simply stating their a poor choice for a defense round.
People really underestimate .22's, and if I remember right they tumble like a motherfucker inside the body too.
they don't tumble, but they'll bounce off a bone if they hit them right
People really underestimate .22's, and if I remember right they tumble like a motherfucker inside the body too.
They tend to stay inside the body, and yes, ricochet off of bones, now having the same energy a larger round would to break/go through it. Skull penetration=lots of bouncing. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, I'm no expert. Ninjaa

Ninjaa
they usually don't bounce around in a skull. most of the time they go right in and out the other side
they usually don't bounce around in a skull. most of the time they go right in and out the other side
Depends on the range, point blank then yes but from range the 5.6x11mm round will probably bounce a bit before being lodged in the brain as it won't have enough energy to break through the other side of the skull. However children have softer skulls, so I'm not really able to comment on that.

What the fuck is wrong with people suddenly?
Eh, I have a .22 lr and it will kill, I've shot many animals with it up to really big coyotes and its stronger than people think it is. In close range ive had 3 holes in the body (Using hollow points). The biggest thing ive seen dropped with one is a deer by my dad.
Hes in 6th grade and still has recess, the fuck? I stopped having recess after elementary school.
they usually don't bounce around in a skull. most of the time they go right in and out the other side
wouldn't the brain being in the way slow it down too much for it to actually exit the skull or am i talking out of my ass again [editline]18th December 2012[/editline]
every other district in the country is doing
uhh no there's like pretty much no national agreement on whether sixth grade is elementary or not sixth grade was middle school in my district
shooting deer with .22LR is illegal, I wouldn't suggest letting anyone else know about it
Finished it off that way actually. :/
wouldn't the brain being in the way slow it down too much for it to actually exit the skull or am i talking out of my ass again
brains are pretty soft, it would be like shooting through jello
Keyword "Unloaded", not the caliber. It could be an unloaded howitzer, for all we care.
Bringing a howitzer for show and tell would make you instantly coolest kid. An afterthought, no one would panic if you brought in artillery. It's too big to feel dangerous. Just saying.
