Valve to show off new game/experience at VR Showcase (Jan 28th)
I actually wouldn't be surprised if it WAS hl3, valve really wants VR to take off and releasing the new half life game with it would be a surefire way to do that.
Thing is that if Half-Life 3 doesn't live up to it's insane hype then the VR unit will fall with it.
If anything, they'll bundle it with something that won't make it suffer as big a hype punch, like Left4Dead3 or a Portal 2 expansion.
hl3 was explicitly said to never be on vr anyway
Where?
hl3 was explicitly said to never be on vr anyway
No, it was said to never be specifically built for vr, not that it wouldn't support vr.
Where?
wrong (from article above)
As reported by VG247, Faliszek was asked following his talk about VR at EGX if Half-Life 3 would be a virtual reality game. "No," he replied, before moving on to discuss how the bandwidth requirements of VR headsets mean they won't be going wireless anytime soon. But the Half-Life inquisitor wasn't ready to give up quite so easily, so he asked again
Why does the title say "new game"? The tweet says "content showcase", not "game". Misleading clickbait garbage.

Litarally all that says is that it isn't being built exclusively as a vr game. That's what the interviewer was asking.
There's no way in hell that they're helping to make a vr headset and then turn around and make a new game in one of their flagship franchises not have any kind of support for it.
For me my hopes are HL3 > Awesome New IP > Other old IPs > Lame New IP > Nothing
Since HL3 is mostly out of the question for this I'm hoping for an awesome new IP.
the toxxes are going to get as annoying as hell because basically none of them are serious bets
If something Half Life related is announced at the showcase i'll eat a permaban
and just like that, a thread related to valve but absolutely not related in any way to hl3 automatically turns to discuss hl3
never change

"you guys aren't speculating about the things i WANT you to speculate over!!! boo hoo"
the news here is an announcement of an announcement, what conversational value did you think it actually held
"you guys aren't speculating about the things i WANT you to speculate over!!! boo hoo"
i was not complaining about that. actually, i wasn't complaining about anything. let them discuss whatever they want. i was just pointing out a trend i noticed that has been popping up.
I feel like that every announcement that Valve makes themselves from now on should be "Valve will show a non-Half-Life related product at X" just so people don't go "OMG, Half-Life 3!!!"
Half-Life: Source implemented into Source 2 :v:
If hl3 gets released where would we prove that we ate whole pizzas each
If its not a game, valve is really being fucking dumb. They have no first party games for their headset, they need something to sell it over the other ones.
I have extreme doubts that its not a game.
Hope for the best, expect the worst is what i always say.
And from what we know, i hope its Half-Life, but expect it to be Left 4 Dead 3. I'm happy either way.
Left 4 Dead 3 would be a pretty smart move as a showcase for VR and Source 2's capabilities. Being able to render hundreds of zombies on incredibly huge maps with impressive imagery, and all. Plus whatever neat stuff they have in there.
L4D3 or Portal 3 on VR would be interesting, L4D3 especially because they have no size limit in Source 2, so you could probably make an open world L4D game,
Or they could've finally made a new HL game, who knows.
Oh my god imagine an open world L4D3 though man.
The problem with most zombie survival games is that the zombies are shit. But L4D zombies are amazing. Just walking through an abandoned town with some of your buddies, looting gear, when suddenly you step on a noise trap or set off a car alarm and you are thrown into chaos as hundreds of sprinting dead people charge towards your building. You'd have to barricade the place and fight them off just to escape with the loot you found.
No more "PVP oh by the way there are zombies sometimes" games. You have me hyped for something I never knew I wanted.
Pretty much every time they show off some new shit like the Source Engine, or cool new lightning technology, or a VR headset, they show it off with some new project.
CS:S and HL2 demonstrated Source, Lost Coast demonstrated that whatever shit it did, HDR or something, Portal 2 and its global lightning, im probably forgetting some stuff.
Im optimistic.
Oh wow, it's another nothing. Why do You even care? Jus sit down and wait. After reveal we can talk.

Excuse us for wanting to have some conversation and speculate as to what it could be.
Lets all just sit quietly and never talk about anything, then.
Half-Life: Source implemented into Source 2 :v:
Please no. Valve already fucked their previous games by updating them.
Why does the title say "new game"? The tweet says "content showcase", not "game". Misleading clickbait garbage.
Yeah, Valve must be just showing off a new cat video they made. That's content right
:weeb:
Combining VR and L4D sounds good to me. Immersive zombie killing sounds terrifying and fun. Fingers crossed for something good.
Please no. Valve already fucked their previous games by updating them.
If Source 2 was actually enough of a departure from Source 1 that ports would affect the game as much as Half Life was changed by Source, i'd actually start to feel excited
Day of Defeat: Allied Offensive
I'll take it. Seriously a fucking Day of Defeat game with a competitive scene and VR would be seriously awesome.
Excuse us for wanting to have some conversation and speculate as to what it could be.

Well, I will be either surprised or just say "I knew it", while You may be surprised or disappointed. I prefer my philosophy because it's safer.
so hype im singing Ode to joy now
Well, I will be either surprised or just say "I knew it", while You may be surprised or disappointed. I prefer my philosophy because it's safer.
Why would you want to be safe.
They should have outright stated "This isn't a Half Life entry" if it wasn't, Valve is going to have a lot of upset people if it's a port of Portal or a new L4D
Why would they say anything? They have a bunch of fans on chains and GIMP suits at this point after everything considered.
[editline]17th January 2016[/editline]
All they need to do is announce a new game and they'll get a legion of people giving attention to it as they beg their master to whip them.
holy shit a small portal VR spinoff would be amazing. That and Ricochet. I want to look downwards off the platforms with it and stumble into one and have a heart attack.
