So you're taking the extreme and using it as the basis for your argument. Yeah, that's not solid ground.
they did use half life 2 as a tech demo, as in the full game
Is it the extreme? I think it's a basic concept of the series - to run and gun. I'll say it again that you CAN make an HL universe experience in VR but you cannot make Half-Life 3.

The Vive can function perfectly fine without the room sensors in place, they're by no means mandatory for the majority of VR titles. Many VR titles wouldn't even have a use for them. So this "You'd HAVE to use them and get up and run and dodge and dive!" thing just doesn't work.

Did you read the rest of the post?
Seated playing with Controller/KBM makes it nauseating for people with motion sickness, and there's no point in playing VR if you're going to be seated. Might as well be using 3d glasses.

You'll likely have problems with VR if you have motion sickness at all. And again, not many games are going to support full body/room actions. Any game that isn't exclusive to the Vive absolutely will no make it mandatory, and likely won't have it at all, because they'll want cross-compatibility with other VR headsets. And people have been playing with VR seated fine for a while now, or they've got controllers. Or they've got flight sticks, or steering wheels, whatever they'd normally use for a game. Again, an extreme.
Valve doesn't create games anymore, they get others to do it. Which is interesting because they are suppose to hire the best in the industry which raises the question of what do they do with their time?
What are priorities and allocation of resources
Just because Valve hasn't made a game in a whole less than 3 years, it doesn't mean they're never going to make games ever again. They've just viewed VR and technology development as a priority for the past few years, and they don't have the resources to work on that, a new engine, steam, and games at the same time.
They should have outright stated "This isn't a Half Life entry" if it wasn't, Valve is going to have a lot of upset people if it's a port of Portal or a new L4D
You're joking, right

Like I know this post is 4 pages late but lmao seriously
Actually, Ricochet would work great with the Vive. The Vive let's you walk around a small space, Ricochet is all tiny platforms over the void. It's absolutely perfect.

Why would Valve ever make a VR game that wouldn't support room-scale VR when they have literally just spent years investing into making it possible?
said game will more than likely take full advantage of all the capabilities of the vive. Half life is DEFINITELY the wrong choice for this.

VR L4D3, use Vive hand jongulars to apply first aid. Safehouses are room sized now, are actually the main menu.
Looks like it was all a ruse, HTC lied again

Just to clarify for everyone, the content showcase is about highlighting select 3rd party experiences. Valve is not showing content there.

aw, they've done some really good vr demos. Would have been nice, oh well.
God fucking damn HTC....
One disappointment after another.
Not even surprised one bit.
Lmao the disappointment never fucking ends.
hope you guys aren't blaming valve for this lol
dream is over.
Why do you guys do this to yourselves
Why do you guys do this to yourselves
Wasn't really our faults considering how HTC worded it
Why do you guys do this to yourselves
HTC uttered the words "valve is unveiling"
it's their fault, what else could they expect?
