except a game can be fun and worth playing. but the experience can be ruined by such drm.
So then don't buy the game.
Didn't someone on the first page post something about the packaged version (not digital drive) not requiring constant online connection to play?
yeah but people only read the title of the thread
It's very ironic that free pirated version is better than paid commercial one.
I feel bad for crackers, having to fix shitty drm and everything.
Where did I say that they have ruined PC gaming?
Screwing over legit users isn't the way to go.
It isn't screwing over the legit users wow. Has this even been confirmed? No. And even if it was true it's not like they are doing it to spite those who bought the game. They have to try things to prevent piracy.
They can't help it if every now and then on rare occurances your internet will cut out.
no its because valve knows pirates dont get tf2 hats and that guarantees them sales..
Well actually people who pirated tf2 can have any item they want.
Jeez It's 2011 you can't blame EA for assuming people have constant internet connections now.

Wow how would you know this, are you a pirate???
i don't really care because my internet connection rarely disconnects

They have to defend against pirates but it usually just makes it more annoying for legit users to use the product. A pirate will just install it and play.
A good example that proves my point even though it is about movies.

I was planning on saving up money for this but now? No thanks. I've got no problems with GFWL but the Active connection DRM can go royally fuck itself. :colbert:

That's not even close to being accurate. I've been able to put in blu-ray discs and skip right to the movie for every blu-ray I've owned.
PS how would matrix dvd have trailers for blu-rays when the dvd for the matrix came out years before blu ray

i don't
developers are like artists they create something great and then someone comes and copies it then gives it away for free
DRM was caused by piracy anyways who cares
I may not be the king, but EA needs to royally fuck off.
Make this man the king. So that the EA can ROYALLY fuck off.

Except this will in no way affect you like that and that picture has no relevance what so ever. This is pretty harmless DRM and is better than something obstructive.
How do we know that this is something EA added and not Epic Games? Epic seems to bash PC gaming a lot.

maybe if you have old discs from 2000
blu-ray has no problem with these things, i can just skip to the movie

We don't even know if this is really happening yet so everyone is getting their panties in a bunch for nothing right now.
Pirates can't play online though.
Unless they fuck that up like they did in borderlands.
Who cares about online when it comes to Bulletstorm? Sure you have what's basically horde mode but there isn't a multiplayer as such.

Wait wait no coop? Well I'm not getting it for sure then
Inbreeding. Only at EA.
Thanks EA, you just saved me £30.
Oh, so I'm in the bracket of people with a bad internet connection and who wont be able to buy the retail version, great. This is complete bullshit for anyone who doesn't live in a city.
It's going to be easier, more convenient and cheaper for me to pirate the game than buy it. That sure protects your sales and customers EA.
Why is EA and Ubisoft so fucking dense? Do they not realize that no matter what, there is absolutely NO WAY they effectively can stop piracy? All this does is screw over normal customers while pirates get to enjoy the game problem free.
Where the hell is the logic in this kind of DRM? They know this won't, and can't, stop piracy.
Putting DRM like this on a game is just an instant 100% guarantee that your sales are going to be drastically reduced while people who want to actually enjoy the game will pirate it.
I'm still buying it
I think there should be a Facepunch rule where you're allowed to talk about pirating a game with intrusive DRM like this.
I mean, GMF has tons of cracked and pirated shit from what I've heard and seen, not to mention that time it showed up in the event log that Hezzy was changing the title of a Fallout New Vegas crack multiple times.
Good news guys. I just checked the source page ( http://www.ea.com/1/product-eulas ) and it doesn't say anything about a persistent required connection at all. Looks like the bias source was wrong. For the packaged version anyway.
Fuck this shit

Also, I still wouldn't get this even without the DRM because of shitty GFWL, and it's already extremely obvious that the devs are gonna screw over PC gamers with paid DLC and tons of bugs.
