WHOOPS I guess you forgot how to read.
That's for the boxed copy, which is going to be a pain to get since most high street shops don't stock or have very few PC games.
The only people who will win from this are the pirates.
That's for the boxed copy, which is going to be a pain to get since most high street shops don't stock or have very few PC games.
-preorder -call ahead and ask to put one on reserve -call several shops and ask if they're in stock
They don't even sell PC games at most of my local video game stores.
amazon.com can't you just buy a packaged copy from there?
lets all just agree to never buy anything made by EA ever again no matter what it is
-preorder -call ahead and ask to put one on reserve -call several shops and ask if they're in stock
There's an entire two places that sell video games in my town, neither stock PC games, like I said, everyone outside of a city is getting fucked over since they're not going to be able to buy the retail version and have a worse internet connection.
You do realise you can buy boxed copies online?
And pay shipping on it, when I could buy the digital version cheaper, except I'm getting fucked over by shit DRM and have to waste money because EA made a bad move.
And pay shipping on it, when I could buy the digital version cheaper, except I'm getting fucked over by shit DRM and have to waste money because EA made a bad move.
Amazon offer free delivery and generally price their games similarly to Steam. Next excuse?
Assassins Creed 2 you say? Would that be the same Assassins Creed 2 that got cracked within a week of release? You mean that one I can pirate right now and play from start to finish if I so wish? That one that completely fucked over all it's legitimate customers, and who's DRM was entirely undermined when it got cracked anyway? Congratulations EA, you've fucked up once again.
Yeah, fuck all those hard working artists and programmers, lets actively help each get the game for free!
Except that almost any person who plays games on the PC will agree that this kind of DRM is the root of all hell.
This kind of DRM works for the first day or two (sometimes weeks or months), and a shitload of sales happen in that time. A little bit of piracy is OK, it keeps the prices down. But the amount we have right now is way too much. How would you like it if you made something, sold it, and didn't get the money you expected it to make because everyone pirated it?
Amazon offer free delivery and generally price their games similarly to Steam. Next excuse?
Waiting three weeks, it's inconvenient for me to get it, so I'm not going to.
lets all just agree to never buy anything made by EA ever again no matter what it is
let's just all agree you don't know what you're talking about, since EA didn't make this game
Except that almost any person who plays games on the PC will agree that this kind of DRM is the root of all hell.
Your still screwing over the people who made the game. Your also getting a product that you isn't supposed to be free for free.
Fuck that, I take my laptop on train journeys a lot of the time to work to play games, and I was really looking forward to bulletstorm. <>
better snip that, man
Except that almost any person who plays games on the PC will agree that this kind of DRM is the root of all hell.
That isn't the point at all; if you don't like it, don't buy it. Pirating it makes the situation even worse. [editline]30th January 2011[/editline]
Waiting three weeks, it's inconvenient for me to get it, so I'm not going to.
Delivery never takes three weeks unless you live in Greenland or something.
what i hate about pirates is how they say it's their right to pirate games it's the same as saying it's my right to go and shoplift because i should be able to enjoy it for free well what happens when they make games free, they stop making games because they're no longer getting paid, and making games takes as long as a regular job does so if they continue to make games they'll just be poor and jobless DRM was caused by piracy in the first place
More DRM = Less Sales When will they learn?
Epic + EA = Fucking fail.
More like an EPIC fail.
That isn't the point at all; if you don't like it, don't buy it. Pirating it makes the situation even worse. [editline]30th January 2011[/editline] Delivery never takes three weeks unless you live in Greenland or something.
I live in Northern Ireland, I don't count as in Ireland and I don't count as mainland UK, shipping is always slow and expensive for me.
what i hate about pirates is how they say it's their right to pirate games it's the same as saying it's my right to go and shoplift because i should be able to enjoy it for free well what happens when they make games free, they stop making games because they're no longer getting paid, and making games takes as long as a regular job does so if they continue to make games they'll just be poor and jobless DRM was caused by piracy in the first place
Agreed While large companies are clearly fucking over their consumers more than the pirates, it's important not to forget why there's controversy over the issue in the first place. You can make up whatever excuse you want for pirating a game (no demo, rediculous DRM) but it would be much more effective if everyone who would've pirated due to stupid decisions simply didn't buy the game. At least then the company would (probably) notice that the piracy rates are too low to blame for the "lost sales".
Games for Windows Live is what we should all really be worried about.
Damit the game got delayed a month? Oh snap.
So this game requires a constant internet connection AND Games For Windows Live? They just killed the game and took a big shit on it.
what i hate about pirates is how they say it's their right to pirate games it's the same as saying it's my right to go and shoplift because i should be able to enjoy it for free well what happens when they make games free, they stop making games because they're no longer getting paid, and making games takes as long as a regular job does so if they continue to make games they'll just be poor and jobless DRM was caused by piracy in the first place
You can't stop piracy but you can stop DRM.
I think there should be a Facepunch rule where you're allowed to talk about pirating a game with intrusive DRM like this. I mean, GMF has tons of cracked and pirated shit from what I've heard and seen, not to mention that time it showed up in the event log that Hezzy was changing the title of a Fallout New Vegas crack multiple times.
yea well guess what no
I'd like it about as much as buying something and then being accused of being a pirate by some overzealous anti-piracy measure, knowing i've wasted money and would be playing by now if i'd just pirated it. You're right, this kind of DRM is over the line. But we need at least some DRM to stop the first few days/week [editline]30th January 2011[/editline] And let's not even bother mentioning the fact that many people pirate games they would otherwise not have bought, potentially making them inclined to buy the game or buy the sequel if they enjoy it. Yeah, the hardcore pirates wouldn't buy it. But a lot of casual pirates or regular people might buy it, and a (admittedly small) portion of the world pirates then buys
and do you have a source on that
I have a feeling that if it wasn't EA, Cliffy B would ask to have it in the PC version anyway. Well we'll see who's grumpy when everyone pirates the PC version (remember how he said "Demo for PS3 and 360, PC gamers now grumpy"? Yeah).
