Bulletstorm ----NOT---- to use a DRM system similiar to Assassin's Creed 2

I don't understand some game developers these days. Are they really this stupid?
And let's not even bother mentioning the fact that many people pirate games they would otherwise not have bought, potentially making them inclined to buy the game or buy the sequel if they enjoy it.
Technically copying something is not stealing it, but when you buy a game you're paying for the rights to use a copy of the software (i.e. copyright). As bullshit as it sounds, you don't really own the software you're buying. Beside that, saying that copying isn't theft and therefore doesn't harm anyone still doesn't change the fact that someone (the developer) isn't getting paid for their hard work.
You can't win a battle like this by trying to justify something that the law views as illegal. That will just gain the company the support of the government and the ignorant, making the policies even stricter for the paying customer.
The least you could do if you really want to play is buy the software and crack the DRM afterward, at least then the company can't complain about "losing sales to piracy". If you're really against the DRM to the point of not wanting to buy the game anymore, just don't buy it and send a letter to the publisher saying why they lost you as a customer. You could do this even if you DO buy the game, stating that you won't buy any games by the publisher with the system in-place. Voicing concerns en-masse would be viewed as a much more valid response than "HURR I PIRAT".
DRM isn't the answer.
Encourage legitimacy with constant updates, ingame benefits such as multiplayer or co-op and keep updating with little bits of content frequently. There's a reason why piracy of valve games is so low, and yet piracy of things like Spore and Assassin's Creed is so high.
Mass Effect 2 isn't pirated anywhere near as much as some of the games with DRM despite being hugely popular and having almost no DRM.
No, DRM is the answer just they keep dabbling in the wrong areas. I/the companies don't care if you feel like you should be able to do with the game as you please because you bought it, it's about stopping those that don't buy it doing what they want. If you think that because some developer adds content every 6 months means that they won't get pirated as much then you are wrong. Yeah sure I am sure it helps but it doesn't have any where near the effect you assume it has.
And as for pirating mass effect 2, I for one pirated it when it was released, not because of DRM but because when people pirate games they don't give a shit about the developer getting money or the consistent updates because you can just pirate them too. I've since changed my tune and buy every game (including mass effect 2). Stop deluding yourself that the people who pirate games are people like yourself.
Actually the constant internet connection thing is apparently fake.
One of the developers just said that you online need it for installation and online play.
Fucking Internets... No, Bulletstorm PC does not require any constant connection, only for install and for online play (duh!).
Joke's on you, you wasted as much time on here complaining as we did.
Ontopic: I might buy this game after all then.

Only I wasn't complaining.. just further proving that you people were crying a river over nothing!
Well that's a relief.
My points stand though, piracy will only turn a company against a platform and incite them to increase the strictness of the DRM. They don't give a shit WHY you're pirating, all they know is that you've got an arbitrary amount of indignant customers and a whole fuckload of (apparently) pirated copies. All you're doing by pirating the software is fucking over everyone even further.
I bet that made Cliffy B laugh
that asshole
We don't even know if this is really happening yet so everyone is getting their panties in a bunch for nothing right now.
Called it.

i wish you people would stop bringing cliffy b into discussions about bulletstorm.. let's talk about people can fly.. after all it is their game...
Hehe destructoid fucked up
Fuck. Webersites troll me.
Can a mod change the title or close the thread so people won't continually come in here and make a hissy fit about incorrect information?
Done!
Done!
Have a Useful, good sir!
I thought epicgames was a smart company
guess not
So, now that that is settled, looks like I'll be purchasing it then.
why would they do this to people can fly
lets all just agree to never buy anything made by EA ever again no matter what it is
That's rather harsh, isn't it? Even if they force this upon Battlefield 3, there is no way in frozen hell that I will pass on that game for example. Bulletstorm is more of a "on the fence" thing where I am not sure and the DRM isn't going to help persuading me into buying it.
It's funny because I never have any problems with this DRM on what games have it.
Unless your internet line is from last century, this stuff runs perfectly fine.
Or if you live in anywhere remoter than a town or city.
it does affect the game
if you lose your internet connection while playing you get kicked out, with no opportunity to save
that's an extremely dick move, and you know it
Save during your game then :downs:
I'll give it 3 weeks before its cracked
More like 2 days with today's pirates.
typical jim sterling sensationalizing news
If you hate piracy or complain about piracy, you should be taking down Gamestop and any company that buys and sells used games. They're the only ones profiting in that case, the dev's lose money based on that, so why aren't you complaining about that?
Also, piracy isn't killing gaming.
and then he gets so fucking defensive in the comments
what a baby "i pull this shit out of my ass but im still right lolz!"
Well if it's not going to use the DRM then I can get back to thinking of buying it again.
The Destructiod writer apparently does not want to admit that he is wrong. Professional...
