Goodbye USA! :byewhore:
It will take out the USA and leave the rest of the world in another "Little Ice Age", which last happened in the 1600s.
Goodbye USA! :byewhore:
Yes, us stupid twats in the EU won't have to worry at all! oh wait, yes, we will. Aside from the products the US exports, clouds of volcanic ash will cloud the atmosphere, fucking up the atmosphere and environment and you beyond recognition. Picture Pompey, but on a grand scale. Stop with your idiocy, you give people a bad name.
I think you underestimate humanities ability to adapt and survive. Fallout won't kill all of us.
It's radioactive too?
It's radioactive too?
Well since you rated me dumb maybe there's something you're not grasping. Radioactive fallout is bad, real bad, but it won't kill all of us. Even if it's most of us, it won't be all of us.
Imagine if it lets all that trapped gas out in a century long volcanic fart. But The logical path of action is to exploit the living fuck out of this volcano. Us the gas to drive turbines and the geothermal energies to create electricity.
Relieving any of the pressure would cause the entire thing to erupt.
If only the theory of building a parking lot over it suited for supervolcanos...
Goodbye USA! :byewhore:
Goodbye America, Hello Volcanic Winter, Famine, Contaminated water, loss of supplies....
Goodbye America, Hello Volcanic Winter, Famine, Contaminated water, loss of supplies....
A fair trade I say. [editline]14th April 2011[/editline] Yes I'm just joking, in case someone's sarcasm meter is broken.
I hate things we can't really predict. :ohdear:

[sp]It was a joke but whatever[/sp] [editline]14th April 2011[/editline]
A fair trade I say. [editline]14th April 2011[/editline] Yes I'm just joking, in case someone's sarcasm meter is broken.
Apparently it is.
Fearmongering.
I hate things we can't really predict. :ohdear:
We can only get an idea of when it might erupt with volcanoes, because they really are unpredictable, the same with earthquakes. All we can do is brace for impact, in this case, not panicking would probably do it. Oh and just for some background info when it does go off the surrounding area will be annihilated by pyroclastic flow (very hot ash), we'll then have raining ash, couple of centimetres, disabling air travel as ash is very thick. After this wind will blow it around the world, causing volcanic winter as well as massive amounts of sulphuric gas being released, making it harder for people to breathe. Aka. Supervolcano. [editline]14th April 2011[/editline] I could go further but I can't be bothered, just watch the film "Supervolcano".
Actually, it is just placed over a Former Vice President's secret lab.
Fearmongering.
Who does this work in favor of, exactly?
Fearmongering.
Some may see it as fearmongering, others may see it as useful information they can use to help them in the future.
Who does this work in favor of, exactly?
I don't know, but I'm absolutely sure it's fearmongering
Actually if you were adequately prepared and out of the blast radius, as long as you had a suitably strong house and a basement with adequate food and water you just might survive for a little while.
Who does this work in favor of, exactly?
Companies. People get scared, they rush out to buy things to prepare.
Companies. People get scared, they rush out to buy things to prepare.
Exactly. Another benefactor is the government, as people acting on panic or pure emotion are easier to manipulate. Remember 9/11?
I don't know, but I'm absolutely sure it's fearmongering
I am absolutely sure you have no idea what you're talking about.
Yeah fuck nature, we have a manifest destiny to control nature.
More like destroy rather than "control" nature.
Actually if you were adequately prepared and out of the blast radius, as long as you had a suitably strong house and a basement with adequate food and water you just might survive for a little while.
Like Hell that would work, study a bit on what the volcano will actually do before posting. "S.T.A.L.K.E.R: American Dream". [editline]14th April 2011[/editline] You'll need a lot of food to survive volcanic winter, you wouldn't even be able to take baths/showers due to contaminated water.
You'll need a lot of food to survive volcanic winter, you wouldn't even be able to take baths/showers due to contaminated water.
Excuse me if this is ignorant, but how would it affect ground water?
More like destroy rather than "control" nature.
That would effectively mean destroying the universe.
Excuse me if this is ignorant, but how would it affect ground water?
You're saying it as if soil/rock is an impenetrable shield. [editline]14th April 2011[/editline] It will get contaminated one way or another by a, well, "Supervolcano".
You're saying it as if soil/rock is an impenetrable shield. [editline]14th April 2011[/editline] It will get contaminated one way or another by a, well, "Supervolcano".
I was going to write a big post about how you have literally no idea what you're talking about but I don't even know where to start... I'll just rate you dumb and leave this here to broadcast my intentions.
It ain't gonna erupt in a 100 years.
I was going to write a big post about how you have literally no idea what you're talking about but I don't even know where to start... I'll just rate you dumb and leave this here to broadcast my intentions.
Well, I was trying to get a point across stating how setting up a strong-ish house with food&water will get you through a natural disaster for a period of time is easier said than done. [editline]14th April 2011[/editline]
It ain't gonna erupt in a 100 years.
We have to start preparing then.
It sucks I live so close I probably wont even notice that Im dead while everyone else gets time to try to fruitlessly find bunkers or something.
