That doesn't count! Republicans were liberals back then.

I don't know about that, but that statement sort of supports my argument.
Not really, kind of.
Environmentalism, square deal, strict restrictions on banks, progressive taxation, being awesome
all values of leftists
I don't know about that, but that statement sort of supports my argument.
Being a liberal isn't the same thing as being a good president.

for the most part
Being a liberal isn't the same thing as being a good president.
I understand that, but my argument was that, they are becoming worse presidents because they are trying to appease a small group of extremists rather than a larger group.
Like what's the point in outright opposing gay marriage?
What happens if you hate everything republicans do, except gay marriage?
As I said before, republicans now have a list of political standings that all their party members must agree with, so unless you believe in all right wing concepts you can't be republican.

That would hold water if there was a correlation between being a moderate and getting a high score on your chart, but there isn't.

Untrue.
That would hold water if there was a correlation between being a moderate and getting a high score on your chart, but there isn't.
Top 5 during that time frame:
D: Franklin D. Roosevelt
R: Theodore Roosevelt
D: Harry S. Truman
D: John F. Kennedy
R: Dwight D. Eisenhower
Is that what you meant?
Top 3 lowest are all republican, 2 of the 3 highest are democrats.
I could go through and make a list of from the best to the worst with their party and their rank, but that would be very time consuming, my point requires to only look at the best and the worst.

Untrue.
I looked at it again and it said "should support"
However I think we all know what that actually means.
I should show up at work at a certain time, but if I don't I get fired.
I suppose even if that is a rough guide line, it implies that the "perfect" republican in the parties eye's would support all of those very right wing ideals.
I bet the Republican who had an incident in a public bathroom sent that letter...

Lol.
He basically made the way for FDR. FDR basically created the modern ideas for the Democratic party.
Except back then FDR had Republican competition. This is missing right now, making the party just drag along.

FDR was not moderate. Neither was Reagan. Harding WAS a moderate. And those are just examples.

If you're a conspiracy theorist, I guess.

It means that the perfect republican would support all of those points, in the republican party's eyes'.
I mean you don't make a chart saying what people should believe, then have all your candidates only believe in half or less.
Not only is that not consistent, it's illogical. Why make a list only to defy it?
"53 house republicans think civil rights shouldn't be taught in schools (also gays are subhuman)"

yeah the democrats sure had a lot of competition back then, and none now
Oh yes, because if children aren't properly "educated" about them, they *automatically* treat them "like shit".
Normally they wouldn't care, but for some that have fundamental Christian parents a counterpoint is a necessity.
Do remember that it was the Republicans that freed the slaves.
Do remember that the democratic party was divided between north and south during the civil war.
[editline]03:00AM[/editline]
Also the fact that you think history from 150 years ago pertains to this situation is p. funny
[editline]03:00AM[/editline]
Also Lyndon Johnson was a democrat and he signed the civil rights bill.
He's an idiot and should be fired. Unfortunately, anyone who fires him will be called a homophobe.
Then get a gay/bi to fire him?
My school has a giant gay pride flag.
It's a bit... weird...

That was back when the Democratic party had spines and didn't succumb to the Republicans.

I'm sure they have a giant American flag as well
is that weird as well?
I've heard about him, he actually does seem to deserve to be fired. And as much as I support the gay community, because it is natural human behavior, I think introducing gay themes into grade school is just wrong, as it sways what should be a natural decision. Damn, that was a pretty long run on sentence. Anyway, guy needs to be fired, but not for supporting gays.
Fuck's sake it's not a decision.
And if it was that still wouldn't make any sense. "We shouldn't present both sides of the argument, it might sway their decision! Best just to present one side."
Most of the people Obama has put into Office deserve to be fired.
Why does everyone make such a big thing about gay people? Just legalize marriage, try to stop the discrimination as much as possible (which will hopefully stop independently in the relatively near future) and that's all we need to do. We don't need gay, lesbian and straight education networks, we don't need to introduce gay themes into America's classrooms, we just need people in general to treat gay people as the same as they treat straight people, not different but equal, not better, not as something special, but as normal people who happen to fancy the same sex.
The flag is surrounded by pictures of famous gay people, including Da-Vinchi, and is basically nothing short of a shrine.
They also had a shrine to Obama at the end of last year, but they recently changed it to a diverse array of history-related objects, although a Obama poster still remains the centerpiece.
Well, I have nothing against the gay community, but "queering" elementary school probably isn't the best thing to do. They should focus on acceptance, not introducing gay themes.

What's wrong with Da-Vinci? He was a cool guy.

I don't doubt he was, but it is unknown if he was gay or not.
He might have fucked his assistant, but he made some beautiful shit.
He might of fucked his assistant, but he made some beautiful shit.
Again, I'm not insulting Da-Vinchi, I'm insulting the shrine in my school for using him as ammunition.

not really
they're doing fine you paranoid bastard

hey
deal with it
you actually have a president who actually knows what the fuck he's doing.

There is already strong heterosexual themes in school.
I don't doubt he was, but it is unknown if he was gay or not.
everyone is gay

including you
Its not that, its that books and tactics he's suggesting is telling them that this man is trying to more or less forcefully hypersexualize children which is something that parents are not wanting.
Here's some books he'd like children reading:
1.Reflections of a Rock Lobster
2. Queer 13 <- this one's a big giveaway by title alone.
3. Revolutionary Voices
4. In Your Face
5. Passages of Pride
Now think about this: Do you really want to have 4th grade children in your favorite valve game (which already happens) talking about having sex in the bathroom with a 3rd grader (which isn't happening...yet)
I had "detailed" sex-ed in 3rd grade.
I don't see your point?
Basically, they point out that he thinks homosexuality shouldn't be taboo, didn't interfere in an inter-generational relationship, and that he openly admits to doing drugs when he was young. It's amazing how eloquently they painted him as an agent of satan for this.
Conservatives really piss me off.
This isn't an issue of him being a homosexual. The problem is that he's clearly failing to meet the criteria of his job, instead opting to use his position to push a personal agenda into a classroom- and I couldn't imagine a more inappropriate medium for his quest. I have no issues with homosexuality and fully support his cause, but the classroom is not an appropriate place to subject people to his opinions.
