there would be ebooks for almost all books if not for the simple worry of piracy
and a legitimate one it is
You mean just like piracy is destroying the music, movie, and games industry, right?
I have to carry around and find a place to store dozens of large, heavy, and in most cases outdated textbooks and novels for what? I could save hundreds of dollars and tons of space and energy (and paper) if all my books were on my iPod.
In my early years of high school I carried more weight in books than most US Army soldiers carry in ammunition.

He said drunk slag, not drunk horse.
My eyes burn half the time from reading for long periods of time.
Looking at a screen constantly constantly reading will hurt like hell.

Kindle doesn't have that problem
Wait, what?
You'd think shit like that would already be in electronic format.
Some reports say Rowling is holding out because she is concerned about piracy issues.
What issues ? it is hardly hard to find the entire set of books online already.
About time, in my opinion.

I guess so. Books are outdated and inefficient. Piracy is hurting literature just as much as it's hurting the game, music, and movie industry (which is to say not very much). It's a crappy argument to say eBooks are bad because they could facilitate piracy. I could get pdf's of all of Rowling's books right now with a quick Google search. I don't see her begging for spare change in rags do you? Most authors aren't money whores, they write because they love doing so and they have other jobs to support their hobby. Not many people make $$$ just writing books.
who the hell even writes books to make money, they're already a horrible source of income
who the hell even writes books to make money, they're already a horrible source of income
Exactly. So how exactly does piracy hurt literature if the authors aren't concerned about money in the first place? I'm pretty sure the printing presses don't care.
Who wouldn't be concerned about money.

You don't do a profession solely for the money if you want to do it well. And our society doesn't value writing as much as it should. We really take good stories for granted. All of our best games, songs, and movies have been the product of good writers, but all the credit goes to everyone except for the writers.
It's a team effort.
