Why can't Google come to the UK and do something about our internet speeds?
I'm stuck with 256kbps thanks to Indonesian internet monopoly.

Take your bragging somewhere else, you spoiled bastard.

I'm pretty sure Lexington's Insight is moving over to Time Warner, so be careful on what you wish for because it may get worse for you soon. Kentucky as a whole seems to be a shitfest internet wise. I go to Transylvania University in Lexington and it seems like all the providers there don't offer shit, and here in eastern Kentucky it's even worse. Rural service sucks, man.

tell me about it,i wish we can do something about it though...
Comcast's internet for me alternates between being fine and then suddenly being really shitty and slow for a few days.
I also have a 250GB cap, which you reach really quickly when streaming or downloading linux distros.
I have Comcast too. It'll be fine for three to four months for me then I'll have like a week where dial-up would be faster.
And the 250gb cap is annoying but not too difficult to deal with if you're careful. I'm no careful though because in my area the cap is suspended currently. 300gb would be a much more reasonable cap in my opinion.
Since everyone else is doing it, I suppose I might as well join in:

I wish there was more focus on upload than just purely on download (since they're linked), I've only got 1Mbps upload, and even a single app uploading something (Like Origin syncing a game) can completely stop any other system on the network from downloading or uploading anything.

Not too long ago I had a MUCH better connection. Also not sure if reinstalling/downloading Gmod atm makes any difference to that, but I swear my old connection was much better. (In Finland, neither Comcast nor Google)

slower than 86% of god knows who. Well fucking yay.
I wonder how long it will take before 100mbit is standardized. Probably never.. I think 100mbit is perfect for at least a few more years. I downloaded Max Payne 3 in all of its 30gb glory in roughly 20 minutes.
I have a download rate of 100 Mbps but the upload rate is very pathetic, 2 Mbps. It takes hours to upload something that you'd download in some minutes which is why upload rates need to be increased, should be at least 1/4 of your download speed in my opinion.
768kbs. My body is dying
To my American and Austrailian bro's, i hope sincearly you get the internet speeds you deserve without the fucking retarded bandwith caps.

This is what I have in Sunny Scotland, but BT Infinity (Fiber for the UK) should be hitting my street this month, so as soon as it hits, I'm switching.

You're a dumbass.
Seriously what kind of a spoiled moron do you have to be to complain about having 9mb/s speeds.

this is what always happens.
Thread about internet and everyone shows off their internet speed dick sizes
I have a 30 up/down fiber connection, and steam still downloads at like 3 mb/s. I think I got up to 10 mb/s downloading a game update via torrent once. We recently got a gigabit connection here, but its 150 dollars a month; not really worth it in my opinion. (even though I pay 70 now)
Download speeds aren't even what I want. I want low pings. I even got DSL and hooked it up right beside my cable modem just to play games online since my cable ISP is so bad
comcast if you didnt have such a monopoly in my area we'd happily use someone else
please google, please help us

Yeah that is one of the perks too for us who play games. I tend to play on American servers in Planetside 2 and Guild Wars 2. When people in my guild and outfit complain about the lag, who live in the US, I don't notice a thing from Sweden. :v:

I hate you.
I can ping a city 20 miles away and get 150ms, but with DSL I can ping London and get 120ms. I Don't understand how my cable provider can be so bad about it, but looking at the telephone pole outside and where everyone's hooked up, it's just a tangled mess. It looks like christmas lights after you've pulled them out of a box
For those people who complain that they only get 10mbps, I get 300KBPS down and 80 up on a good day, and a 40GB monthly cap.

and somewhere, someone said "yeah, in 2013, this is acceptable."
this person should find a new job.
Stuck with 3 Mb/s
you poor soul
Google should come to straya, they would get millions off of all the people that are sick of Telstras fucking bullshit
shoutout to 400-500kb/s
I don't think you understand. It's Mega BITS. Not bytes. So I download at a constant of about 300 kb/s.
There is one nugget of truth in the exec's stream of bullshit, and it's that most sites can't deliver content fast enough to max out a high-speed line. The number of users with multiple devices streaming lots of data from multiple sites simultaneously is probably pretty low, so for the majority of users he's right.
Comparing himself to Benjamin Franklin because his attitude is anti-progress is mind-bogglingly stupid though.
Google Fiber would be amazing to have with streaming games.

This is the fastest speed ISP we've gotten in this area. I really wish we had decent internet here.
I get about 2-2.5 megabytes/second down and about 1 megabyte up.
Also, being lucky that I live in a house which is also being used as a business location, it runs on a Comcast business line, so there's no bandwidth cap.
Because bandwidth caps are dumb as fuck.
1700 minutes, Telus.
1700 fucking minutes to upload a 300mb video to Youtube.
Man I wish Google fiber expanded really fast all of the sudden
it would completely collapse their business
I wish Google Fiber came here simply for the value you get. The internet here with Comcast is so disgustingly overpriced when you figure you can get Google Fiber for like ~the same price and it's like a million times faster
[editline]6th June 2013[/editline]
Fuck monopolies in general
We don't need 1 gigabit we want 1 gigabit. 20 download is good enough for me.
