Probably because they took what made Red Faction: Guerrilla great - the whole sandbox destruction element - and replaced it with a boring third-person shooter for Armageddon.
To be fair the weapons in Armageddon were much better than Guerrialla. If they made a Guerrilla style game with Armageddon's weapons it would be AWESOME!
Too bad THQ killed Red Faction and now Red Faction is killing THQ.
RFG has mods?
I remember searching for mods and it turning up no results.
There's not many around, because they don't have a map editor, so it's mostly weapon mods.
Again, the only thing that modders can experiment with are tables.
A mediocre multiplayer-friendly FPS is not going to hold any weight in a market completely flooded by them.
It did though. Did you not hear about it selling really well? It came out in Spring so avoided the Battlefield/Call of Duty shenanigans.
That really sucks for em.
They're probably one of my favorite publishers because they don't make as much of the huge mistakes that publishers like EA does and it seems like half my favorite games were published by them.
Why rate winners? This means the next Metro game is delayed!
They have Metro, Red Faction and Saints Row, and so far they fucked up 2 of them and I don't know what happened to CoH. (While SR3 was still good, THQ did their best to lessen it's quality)
Yes it was, did you play RF1 and 2? They were both linear.
Personally I really enjoyed Armageddon, keep it mind that because a game is linear it is not bad. Guerrilla is not like the other RFs
No, it wasn't. I'll admit I didn't really mind the actual gameplay, it was a sort of alright-ish TPS at it's core. What ruined it for me though wasn't the linearity or the gameplay style, I would have preffered if they stuck with the new RFG formula, but I loved RF1 and 2 so I was willing to overlook that. No, the real problem for me was the story. To put it bluntly it was completely abysmal. They completely chucked out the staples of the Red Faction series, that being the whole "underdog rebels fighting against corporate dictatorships" (or in the case of RF2, regular dictatorships) but the biggest problem I had was with the aliens. The whole "Capek derived all his nanotech research from these hidden aliens" stuff was complete bull. Honestly, if they wanted to have inhuman enemies or whatever they could have just gone with "there were still mutants buried in Ultor labs" or "Hale's marauders studied Capek's stuff and learned how to reproduce the nanotech plague from RF1" and it would have both made sense and still be relevant to past games in the series. Plus aliens just didn't seem to fit in the series to start with to me. And lets not forget the huge plot holes.
However, I understand that I don't speak for everyone and there's going to be people out there who simply didn't like the linearity or the gameplay, but for purely story related reasons I don't think it was a Red Faction game at all.
I've always kind of liked THQ. Sure they have quite a few bad games but they also have some of the best I've ever played. They're also not as morally warped as some of the other publishers are.
They deserve it after what they did to STALKER SoC.

More like that.
What's with the dumb rating the uDraw has sold terribly and cost THQ dearly.
They deserve it after what they did to STALKER SoC.
please elaborate? SoC was great, and what did they do to it except giving the devs enough money to actually finishing it?
That uDraw tablet must be rubbish if it's $50
I mean jeez the stylus is WIRED to the thing, and it must have the specs of a bad Genius tablet.
It seems like an innovative device, but it's too much for the average console gamer to get used to, and any company who has tried to make a tablet has failed compared to Wacom.
What if they go bankrupt and Metro Last Light has no publisher?
Valve.
Doesn't this mean we all should be buying THQ stock?
The value is going to shoot through the roof when Last Light comes out.

They made GSC cut tons of features, levels and so on. The game itself might be good enough, but it could have been alot, alot better.
Thankfully Lost Alpha is on it's way.
I really enjoyed Homefront. Bought Red Faction Armageddon and I was astounded at how dumbed down it was.

What the hell are you talking about
The uDraw tablet was a failed attempt at grabbing money off casuals with an expensive device that got no support whatsoever

I don't think so. THQ is apparently directed by a bunch of idiots and I doubt Last Light will even get half the marketing and success it deserves, they'll probably vaguely advertise the game and will keep the big ultra expensive marketing campaigns to generic shooters like homefront.

In THQ's defense, I personally think that GSC Gameworld were being far too ambitious for their original build of Shadow of Chernobyl. If they had tried to keep all those features they originally intended, it probably would have been another few YEARS before the game would have come out. The company wasn't exactly that solid during the development of the game, so a grand multitude of things could have happened to the company during that time that would have prevented the game's release (such as, for one, shutting down).
The entire thing really has to do with terrible executives. Shit like the uDraw being made in fucking excess, Armageddon not having free roam, buying developers then not doing anything with them, etc.
I just hope a lot of people are going to buy some of their stock. It's cheap as shit right now and in a year it will probably be worth at least a few dollars, thats a huge increase in what its at right now and even with a hundred dollars or so put into their stocks, thats some couple of thousands of dollars made by waiting.

Didn't cossacks sell a couple million though? That's still a bunch of money coming in.
"Hey guys, everyone loves the destruction in this game series! Lets basically remove it entirely!"
Yahtzee said it was one of the worst games of 2011. I agree.
their new logo is retarded
Why is it never the evil big name publishers that you hear this happen to?

Fixed for some people.

The worst part is that the CAW system is a complete copy-paste from the previous game, especially for Divas.
it was all over after red faction guerilla, they shoulda ended on a high, but god damn, armageddon, what the shit.
And for whatever reason, they made a multi million dollar miniseries off of armageddon
It angers me that they ended the red faction series like they did. Its like they are blaming the franchise for something that was their fault.
Since this is officially a Red Faction thread now, I liked how you could blow up everything from a first person perspective.
Come to think of it, it's sort of like Minecraft if it was a sci-fi FPS.
