Level 2 health warnings issues as Britain is set for a heatwave (32c)

My (British) body isn't ready.
Yeah, I guess I'm kind of being an asshole.
Mybad.
Nice call.
Its more to do with who our buildings are setup, we insulate the fuck out of everything and if there's 0 wind they can turn into right saunas, then you consider our average heat we're used to is much lower than this. You take something out of its usual pattern, it struggles to adapt. Heat does hell when it drastically changes.
This, and only the rich have A/C in their houses
Yeah, I know.
North Dakota in summer-time has similar weather patterns to the United Kingdom in terms of wind and occasional cold draft, so when ever we have a heatwave here, people start piledriving to get into the Missouri River.
The entire north of Europe is fucked as soon as it get hot, every house is designed to capture heat and so holds heat like a motherfucker throughout the night, and none of them are equipped with AC.
When the temperature outside is 22 degrees, it's 28-29 inside of my room and stays that way until 3AM.
Time to buy a fan it seems.
Meanwhile in Arizona it can hit triple digits during this month and in Florida it likes to stay 80-90F.
You're silly, last week it hit 109F in the shade in Florida. Going outside and doing anything at all was suicide.

Only the impoverished or old houses don't have them here. So hearing that seems wtf'ish to me.

In bong land stopping the wind and rain from making your brick-build extremely insulated no heat escape ha-ha house from falling over.
It's a fucking nightmare, especially in the city here, where the heat from the cars and roads float up into me house.
Plus Air Con is expensive man, I need that money to pay my council tax bills.
a big problem in the uk is that a lot of people don't know that they should stay hydrated in the heat like this. some people think a little desk fan is gonna be enough to keep them cool and healthy during a heatwave

Only places I've seen with ac are schools and hospitals etc. Really no need here with such a temperate climate.
We recently had a heat boom in Sweden aswell. For 2 weeks it was crappy 15 C and in one night it boomed up to almost 30C. It held for a week and guess what, after that it was back to 15 C again.
I feel your pain Britain.
You guys are shitting your pants over the equivalent of about 90 Fahrenheit?
Pretty much the entire USA south of the Mason-Dixon line is laughing at you.
Fuck off.
Acclimatisation and all that. I'd like to see the entire of the South of the USA live in a much colder environment and see how they deal with it.

Whether it's hot or not is really based on acclimation, really just imagine you're in the dead of winter and say it's like 20-30 degrees, and then all the sudden it jumps to say, 70, even that would be holy shit.

This is the point where I'd like to tell you old country folk about the marvelous invention of a thing called, mobile homes.
Easily built in a factory, cost fuck-all to put down, can be moved to wherever, and most importantly, they are built like tanks.

I'd rather put up with low temperatures on any given day than start sweating the moment I step outside due to sheer humidity, to be quite honest

That actually happens some of the time in NC.
Our weather here is hella janky.
You'll be laughing on the other side of your face if you have to experience a heat wave of your own. Or better, a cold snap. Everybody has differing levels of tolerance to extreme weather conditions, and what applies to one extreme sure as hell won't apply to another.
britains just like to complain a lot about how hot it is when everybody else has to deal with those temperatures regularly
its always going to come up with the internet anyways, every time the south gets 1" of snow they shut down while the north is wading in 2' of it, the west gets a cold snap and the east laughs while they roast, its a global competition to see who has the worst weather in the world
I'd like to see you deal with -10 to -20 in a light jacket.
Our bodies are designed for lower temperatures, like yours being designed for higher temperatures(and being a dick apparently).
I deal with both, temperatures of +30 and -25 within 6 months of each other. Such is life in Canada.
Cue the melting roads
That only happened after prolonged exposure to heat, my understanding is that the road surface heated up to a temperature that usually isn't possible. At that time even the nights were stupidly hot so the roads had no chance to cool down.
Plus black retains heat and all that.

What kind of mobile homes are cheap? Maybe we are thinking of two different things here

You do realize that it's the tabloids that are sensationalizing this shit most of the time, right
The same shit happens in US media when Obama does [thing that is apparently bad] or when TERRORISM is brought up, most of the actual population won't care.

I believe you call them modular-homes, or trailer homes.

One of these bad boys. Completely insulated, air conditioned, and as stated before, can be put down on a nice 0,8 acres of land.
Only the impoverished or old houses don't have them here. So hearing that seems wtf'ish to me.
It's only in the last couple of years that's it's come standard on cars, before it was an expensive extra
Btw guys how do you cope with the heat again?
I've got a bodged a/c unit which consists of a desk fan blowing air through a frozen towel at my face but if that doesn't work I might just only wear the frozen towel for the weekend. Also there's probably going to be a thunderstorm - is it worth leaving the windows open to let that push some air through the house or not?
This weather is horrible. Sweating like an Irishman checking his potato field when I'm trying to sleep
Better thank yourself for that. CO2 is warming the planet. Expect more of this.

The handheld fans that spray water in your face while blowing are invaluable in such situations

Oh right so just a shed/house thing. Mobile homes are glorified caravans over here
37°C tomorrow in the South West of France.
I'm already dying.

A lot of water. I hate this weather because I sweat like a pig, piss like a fountain and still feel like I'm going to die in the heat. Last year I said I would buy a proper fan to keep myself cool and I never did. I'm kicking myself now.
