Level 2 health warnings issues as Britain is set for a heatwave (32c)
Why don't the British have any A/C again?
Our normal average temp makes having an A/C pointless, why would you run an A/C when its 7-12c, do you wanna feel like you're in the arctic circle?
I cant tell whats worse, dry and hot, or humid and hot.
I think humid and hot is worse, I hate fucking stickyness.
Over here in Utah it's dry and I think we hit 100 (40C I think) one day but im not sure, but at least I didn't fucking feel sticky like I do in the east. I can't function when I feel sticky like that.
Hot and humid is the worst. Unfortunately that's what we get over here when we have heat waves. UK is a naturally wet landscape, add heat and it just all goes into the air.

I mean at the moment where I'm at it's currently around 73% humidity, tonight that's gonna jump up to 89-95%.
Thought interestingly, the time I went to Texas was during a cold spell, and it was balls cold.
Texas, where its 100F in the summer and 30-40F in the winter

I have been to flordia before and its so humid there that I think they should just put a ban on leather seating because your crotch turns into the hoover dam and your skin will peel off as soon as you try to remove yourself from the ancient torture device

Florida is a funny place. When I was there it was 50 degrees Celsius and the middle of a storm. A lot of people walking around at 40 degree heat like it was nothing, but notably one 'cowboy' looking guy who in the air conditioned lobby of a hotel, fanning himself, made fun of me for not being able to handle the heat.
Ah~ That time of year when many of us ignorant americans wonder "How the fuck are people dieing when it's only 90".
I wonder about that too because I've often flied from 'relatively chilly' summers in Finland to somewhere closer to the equator for a few weeks/month, and I can handle the sudden change in temperature just fine. I might be like "damn it's hot" and my skin might burn in some place, but that's about it.
Also, I'd like to see you try step out of an airplane from ~100F at home to around 60F at destination. :v:
Move to Oklahoma for a year. After that, no temperatures'll be unusual for you.
Fucking 10F in winter and 100F in the summer.
lmao more like come to new england because that shit isn't even bad. we go from -10F to 100F at random during all seasons. remember that quote from ralph waldo emerson?
"if you don't like the weather in new england, wait a minute."
having to sleep in 25-30 degrees is fucking torture
You guys are shitting your pants over the equivalent of about 90 Fahrenheit?
Pretty much the entire USA south of the Mason-Dixon line is laughing at you.
Wow! it's almost as if people in other countries aren't used to extreme heat.
Dumbass.

just like new england is laughing at you for this

My relatives from Australia came over this week and all of them were asking: "why in the hell are all these crazy people dressing up like it's warm? It's fucking freezing!"
You're silly, last week it hit 109F in the shade in Florida. Going outside and doing anything at all was suicide.
Dunno where you live in Florida but the highest it was where I lived was 98.

I think it's a mental thing mostly. You're going into a warm place, so you mentally prepare. Intentionally drink more liquids, seek out more shade and similar.
On the other hand, when you're in a domestic situation, you're kinda more likely to not drink more than usual.
On top of that, the group that is always the most in danger are seniors - they rarely drink as much as needed normally, let alone in heat waves.
Also on the topic of airplanes - the opposite is more common because aircraft tend to be airconditioned. I still remember though that stepping from a pleasant dry 20C into 45C humid felt like getting hit by a brick into the face.
The closest thing I have to an A/C is a flap on my window.
I'd like to see you deal with -10 to -20 in a light jacket.
Our bodies are designed for lower temperatures, like yours being designed for higher temperatures(and being a dick apparently).
HAH, In Chicago the summers are 90-100 and the winters are usually -10-10 (Fahrenheit) I can easily do anything above 0 degrees in a light coat.
Whether or not I'm in the US, I don't think that there will be deaths from this. But yeah better get used to it UK it seems like you've been getting quite the temperatures recently
fockin pansies, where i come from we were lucky to get under at least 211926035 Kelvins.

I did from ~25C to -10C when coming home from Florida. It's not that bad, really. Then again, I'm used to stupid weather, because the temperature varies so wildly throughout the year in Toronto. I think Canada has the most bipolar weather in the world.

Are you sure? 760 people died in last year's heatwave: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/topics/weather/10187140/Heatwave-deaths-760-lives-claimed-by-hot-weather-as-high-temperatures-continue.html

He might be referring to the heat index. On a humid summer day it can make it feel at least 10 fahrenheit hotter.
I can't stand the heat, I hate it. So much easier to warm up (throw on more layers) than it is to cool off (guzzle water while sweating in front of 4 oscillating fans). I live in new england and anything over, like, 72 degrees is torture. Doesn't help that my office room heats up like 10 degrees hotter.

You are really ignorant, aren't you? Depending on where you live, the body is adapted to different temperatures. You might be able to cope with 90F because you've been living with it for a long time. Nowadays, I don't even see temperatures over 15C/59F. 32C/90F would melt my fucking eyes out, and leave me with third degree burns all over.
I was going to mock the USA's health care system, as you mocked our inability to survive what you call a mere 90F, but I decided against it because I'm a better person than that.

I know you apologized, but what's up with this attitude? Shouldn't it be obvious that not everybody on the planet is used to the same temperature as you?
last year there were a ton of people doing this same thing, I just don't get it.

He just wanted free zings, I think. This often backfires on people who try it.
Welcome to texas weather, where it's 38.8C and 80% humidity!
All over facebook has been this picture of Frodo with the caption;
"I don't want to say it's hot in my room.... but a couple hobbits came around and threw a ring in it."

That's a bit of a stretch even considering the literature. You'd have to have read the book or watched the movie to understand what it means, but they could have made some other crappy meme instead.
Hey Britain, if you don't want it, please give it to us. We'd really appreciate it.

Well, who hasn't seen LOTR?
Well, who hasn't seen LOTR?
true, but the context could have been better. It doesn't fit, if you ask me.

I haven't seen the third one.
