They attack roughly three people, and slam officers against walls and glass doors. What did they expect to happen? The police to give them roses for assault and battery?
fuck i love protesters, especially at universities: they actually think what they're doing will help! it's adorable
please look up civil rights movement
Personally I like to stay at least half a meter away from any kind of Police Officer just to make sure I won't get in trouble. Although during a protest I suppose I'd buff that up to one and a half.
in a small town with very bored repressed police officers, same
Lol the best part of this though was the fact that most of them are usyd arts students and are so sheltered its embarrassing, they're hardly the people i want representing me one guy was on the news going "The police just pepper sprayed me, my face is on fire its like I've been TORTURED" and making this huge deal and its like mate calm the fuck down
does milk actually help with mace/pepperspray? cus
They say Milk and Baby soap (tearless) helps as well.
The protester shouldn't have been blocked the door like that. That said, NSW Police have a bit of a bad reputation for their attitudes. I think most of them need physiological help and much better training.
does milk actually help with mace/pepperspray? cus
They brought milk. That means those idiots were expecting to get pepper sprayed and most likely intentionally escalating the situation. Too bad they also brought cameras (and/or reporters) that show everyone at a glance they are entirely the ones at fault here. One thing they did manage to do though: They completely drowned out coverage on any peaceful protests. Good job. Seriously, what happened to covering the area in posters and handing out flyers? If there's any media coverage that's going to be a lot more effective than this violent approach. It would also have the benefit of not antagonising the very people you're trying to convince you know what's best. If I was anywhere close to that university I'd try my best to get a spicy opinion piece into the relevant publication(s), because this stuff actually manages to go against the cause they are "fighting" for.
Attempted forced entry past police into a building where a government minister is. I'm sorry, but the use of pepper spray in this case was justified. I might agree with the protesters about university regulation, but that does not make their actions okay.

Considering (this is all Usyd specific) they have connections everywhere, a full blown opinion piece would be a bit of a struggle. They actually infiltrated the SRC as well and get to have a paragraph written in it weekly (it's usually just self-promotion though).
