It's not up to you to decide what is a valid political opinion and what isn't. I find people that say stuff like that to be worse than the bible-thumpers and stereotypical Conservatives. You vote for your own ideal and respect the opposing ones and respect other people's freedom of thought, because if you start categorizing ideals in better ones and worse ones you are on a very slippery slope.
No, I'm pretty sure attacking other people ideas is the entire fucking point of politics, especially considering those beliefs will end up affect how you live your life one way or another.
Sometimes I watch these elections and it just hits me that they use more money for their campaigns rather than saving peoples lives and actually having real use to currency.

I think that in the process, almost all of us forget the most important part to arguing a belief. That's having an open mind to the other side. To box yourself in and refuse to believe anything the opposition says is equivalent to intellectual death.
You should agree with something because the facts have shown you that world view, not because it feels right or warm or fuzzy to you.
Arguments and debates are the perfect opportunity for you to be wrong, and in the process of being wrong about something you learn a lot about the views you espoused, whether you continue to agree with those views or not.
both of them are awful wasteful things. i don't think politics and bank robbery should have the same goal.
Politics and bank robbery have the same goal in the same way that a doctor and bank robber have the same goals.

I've had several debates with conservatives. I respect their positions. On some places I was either once conservative or even remain conservative to these days. I'm a genuine believer in the free market.
But you can't debate the GOP. You can't argue the GOP. You can't compromise the GOP. They are no longer a party for the small government constitutional conservative political position. They are now the party of crony capitalism. The party of racism, sexism, and religious zeal. If Reagen were running in for the Republican ticket he would have been shot down as a neo-fascist Marxist socialist right from the get go. He wouldn't even be considered.
Again I got no problem with conservatism. I'm probably more conservative then most of Facepunch. But the American Republican party is no longer a party for conservative views.
John Huntsman and Gary Johnson.
You will be able to vote for Johnson in all 50 states...
He seems like a swell enough guy, but he's conservative so I don't want him.
Is romney the one that sleeps with dead babies?
Is romney the one that sleeps with dead babies?
No he's the one that eats dead babies.
:v:
Is romney the one that sleeps with dead babies?
Santorum was the one who sleeps with dead babies, Romney is the one who baptizes dead people into Mormonism.
Is romney the one that sleeps with dead babies?
That was Santorum
John Huntsman and Gary Johnson.
John Huntsman was the only candidate with his head not shoved so far up his ass that he couldn't see the problems with the US at the moment.
John Huntsman and Gary Johnson.
Those poor guys did not have a chance at all against the likes of Romney, etc.

Did you just compare Politicians to Doctors? That's a massive insult to Doctors everywhere.
Also Jon Huntsman rocks the keyboard.

How could this man have no chance of winning?

Probably because uneducated idiots think he's too "boring" because doesn't spit out propaganda right and...well, right.
man I really hate that people who can think for themselves are never actually rewarded for their ability to do so
i think too many people vote democrat because of the name and too many people vote republican because of the name. i'm not happy with either obama nor romney but at least with obama his biggest issue ever is still the birth certificate. romney's got more bullshit than the farms of america combined
romney's got more bullshit than the farms of america combined
I have to use that sometime
I have to use that sometime
well it's true
i don't think i've seen a politician flip-flop as much as Romney has. Obama has been pretty good about that. but oh no socialism is bad because obama is clearly a socialist.
What's the scare with socialism anyway? Is it because the nazis had socialist in their name? Because they were totally fascist during WW2. At least Hitler was.
[editline]10th July 2012[/editline]
either way I'm going to go out on a limb and say the problem with politics in America is the largely uneducated constituency

Most americans have a problem with socialism because we were founded on heavy capitalist beliefs and it has been that way since then. Also because no country has actually thrived under socialism except for a few european countries (Norway, Sweden) and the rest either saw no benefit or went down the shithole. Personally I wouldn't mind being a little bit more socialist but not nearly as much as Europe is.

The majority of people in my area and me believe that if I work hard for something, it should be mine and not forcefully shared with others. Or similar ideals. With that said, I didn't say work HARDER, I just said work hard.

Which I agree with. If I work my ass off and make a ton of money with a small software company, I shouldn't have to give nearly 40 or 50 percent of it to the government so they can give it to some welfare queens.

And then there is the idea of universal healthcare, which is the main reason conservatives are voting for Romney.
Ron Paul 2012!!
Is romney the one that sleeps with dead babies?
You guys should probably know there really isn't anything weird about what Santorum did. My friend has a miscarriage and had a similar experience where she laid and slept with her dead daughter for the whole night.
And then there is the idea of universal healthcare, which is the main reason conservatives are voting for Romney.
The main reason conservatives are going to vote for Romney is because Romney is a Republican.
cliffhanger thread title?

Yeah let's all re-elect some incompetent man to try and fix the economy for the second term!

pretty much
The main reason conservatives are going to vote for Romney is because Romney is a Republican.
I could say the same thing for democrats. But you have no reasoning behind your claim. You base conservatives off of what the mass media says and from the few misinformed conservatives that you have heard.
And then there is the idea of universal healthcare, which is the main reason conservatives are voting for Romney.
The difference between UHC and benefits is that UHC will give everybody something. Even if they don't use it 24/7 they still have instant access to healthcare without denial for stupid shit like previous conditions. Benefits only, well benefit, a small portion of people who can claim them. They shouldn't be entirely abolished, but the UK benefits system for example needs a massive overhaul. There are a lot of people claiming them unjustly and living massively better lives than people in employment.

No reasoning? In what world are conservatives going to vote anything other than Republican? There are a myriad of other issues that conservatives are going to take issue with when it comes to the presidential election. The health care debate is completely inconsequential to whether or not they'll vote Republican, if it really was that big of an issue why aren't conservatives taking serious issue when it comes to Romneycare instituted during his time as governor?
And of course you can say the same thing about Democrats, that's the kind of mess a two party system creates.
